Reviews for River House Marina
No one home?.....Revised., 2017-07-15
Captain: , Vero Beach Florida (235)

Wanted to stay but at last we are next door. Called and left message with number over an hour before we were to arrive, but no call back. Called on 16 per sign but no one home. perhaps next time. Revised after returning and this time speaking to the owner who is on vacation and getting all set up. Nice dock, lower then city and new power pedestals. one stall shower and head not air conditioned and very buggy. Pool looked great but no time to try. Will be back.

Great place to stop old Florida charm, 2017-07-09
Captain: , Riviera Dunes Marina (29)

Nice Stop when transitting across the waterway. We stopped here on our way to the Bahamas in April and on our way back in July. Michelle the dockmaster was on vacation in July so Robert the new owner came by to see if we needed anything. Nice pool, charming little street with picnick area, a place for trash and pet walking area. This can not be beat for $1.00 a foot includes electric, new pedistals with 50 and 30 amp service. Ordered pizza and subs from Joey's Pizza 863-946-1575 really good and they delivered even though they do not have delivery.

Very adequate stop for us, 2017-06-20
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

Places like this (under new management and renovations) can change quickly, but for our one night stop, we had good power, narrow, but stable dock, very nice grassy picnic areas alng the waterfront, and a nice (unheated) pool (not a problem in June). Rain kept us close to the boat, so cannot comment on the town.

Water is not right, otherwise OK stop, 2017-01-28
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (742)

Very noticeable yellowish water after topping off starboard tank. Manager said it is city water so not much he can do. He also said that one of his first customers in 2016 had the same complaint but he hadn't heard anyone complain since. Single bath suite with shower, toilet and sink was clean. Towel smelled funny afterwards, so the funky water is probably there, too. My best guess is iron and sulfur in the water. Pool looked inviting but not heated (76F). New electric pedestals. Dock is narrow but OK. We had room for a 49' Defever, a 36' Manatee, and a 37' Great Harbour along the renovated dock. Town docks immediately adjacent can handle 5 or 6 more boats. Both docks charge $1 per foot. Easy access to a nice grassy area for pets.

Good overnight stop, 2017-01-26
Captain: , Indiantown, FL (91)

Stopped 1/18/17. Got bikes off and cycled all over town and found everything you could need. New Owner been there 6 mths. Half the dock is refurbished, he's working on the other half. Water bit brown. Good electric connection. Wifi in boaters' lounge and one big bathroom, shower was good. Given an extremely warm welcome by Michelle and Bob the owner also cam down early evening for a chat. Price good inc electric too. We will be back!!!

Hidden jewel, 2016-12-19
Captain: , Miami (83)

Now under new management and found it a hidden jewel! Part of the old dock is in the process of repair, but the new section, painted white, is very nice! Just the right height for normal sized boats! They are working at having WiFi at the dock. There is a pool, a cruisers lounge with a (small for now) lending library. A clean head & shower. And very friendly. We stopped for the night and have stayed 3 days!

Only down side is some traffic noise from the bridge.

We WILL stop here again!

Work in Process, 2016-11-24
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1522)

Stayed there late October. Traveling East, we arrived late due to construction at the previous Lock. We lucked out and got the last usable dock right under the Marina Sign that was on all night so it was pretty buggy. The owner came by. We had put our payment in the box by the gate. He said that he had bought it and was working on repairing/replacing the docks and wanted to make it the premium spot to dock. Although it has quite a way to go, the dock we were at was secure although it could use a few new pilings and cleats. I wouldn't mind tieing up there again. We did experience a first.. we ate dinner at a Package Store that had a restaurant that served the best Hamburgers.

Not Much Here, 2016-05-01

Dock is fine, lower than city dock, as noted. Left our check in the box, and June came by and thanked us. Bathrooms were locked, but she offered to get us some ( free) ice if we needed it. Quite pleasant, but we had hoped to try out the Mexican restaurant (Antojito's) and were disappointed to find that they close at three on Mon., Tues. and We'd, and are not open on Saturday and Sunday, according to another post. Kind of tough to plan your arrival on Thurs. or Friday, but you've been warned. Call ahead! 863-946-3355. We wound up at Burger King. Nuff said.

Still a fun stop, although now even the Burger King has closed. Good times at The Eagles Club, the crew says. They are now honorary members, courtesy of the Mayor, apparently. Jude is terrific, collects your modest check, delivers some free ice, and tries to persuade you to buy the River House, owned by her brother-in- law. No current, no wind, water quality has improved, just a nice, quiet stop.

Is this place open?, 2016-03-07
Captain: , Erie, PA (587)

We called, no answer. When we swung by the docks, some of the lattice work under the docks was loose and hanging out into the river preventing one from coming alongside in those areas. There is a For Sale sign on the building and the place appeared to be empty. No cars in the parking lot, no people around. There is a gate on the walkway out to the dock but we couldn't tell if it was locked. We stayed on the city dock instead. We needed to give this some sort of rating, so two stars.

Bad tasting water. Great Mexican restaurant, 2016-01-09
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (686)

Called city dock and didn't get an answer so called Jude and she was very helpful. Even though Antojitos was closed at 5pm they served us with great food. No WiFi even from the library.

Decent place, 2015-11-10
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

Stayed one night, 11/8. No one answers the radio, had to call on the cell. It is based on the honor system. Fill out the form and put that and your money in an envelope and then in the box. No one to help with docking. Docks are in rough shape and are fixed at a fairly high level. Be warned, the water is terrible! Very metallic smell and taste to it and yellowish in color. Lots of iron. Stained the boat where it was dripping at the connection. One restaurant but it was closed. Not much else around. It is convenient though.

Call ahead and Jude will tape off a side tie, 2015-05-06
Captain: , Conroe, TX (50)

Its the last place before and first place after the Lake. It was nice to have a place reserved since we had 3 boats. Dock needs a little work, but sitting on the lawn made up for it. Price was perfect, but the kicker was the little "bar" up the road. Walking distance. Ask about Anglers, and see if Heidi is working. If you call ahead the owner will be there to cook your dinner.. This place has the most incredible steaks ever. The T-bone is about the size of the starboard side of a Cow !!

Brief stop, 2015-04-06
Captain: , Wilmington NC (400)

After leavinf River Forest we couldn't move fast enough to make it all the way across the lake so we did a short stop. Tied up, dropped our payment in envelope, and sat in the shade under one of the trees just off the dock and watched life go by all afternoon. City dock was full by dark but there was plenty of room at the Riverhouse. would pick this over the city dock again.

Worth every penny, 2015-03-19
Captain: , Cocoa FL (670)

We planned on passing through the locks east-bound and anchoring in the old campground area, but the lock doors were out of service and all traffic stopped for a few hours. We stopped here and were very happy. The owner and her sister were very friendly and offered to take us into town. We ended up with use of the golf cart, explored a little, and enjoyed our short stay. As others have said, the water is questionable but the shower/head is clean and large (only one). Supposedly the library across the street has open WiFi but I could not pick it up with my booster. The city docks are newer for the same price, but for the use of the facilities (including the pool) you can't beat this place. I olnly gave it a 4 due to the lack of good water.

A nice little surprise, 2015-03-11
Captain: , Palm Coast, Florida (311)

Stayed here on January 6, 2015 heading westbound. Crossed Okeechobee with about 14 boats travelling as a group. The city marina filled upl, so decided to give Riverhouse a try. While the docks aren't as formidable as the city docks, they were just fine. The lady who managed the docks came by to check on us and ended up driving us to a restaurant. She then brought us a complimentary bag of ice. The restroom, shower room across the street was clean and neat. The $1/ft dockage with electricity and water is very reasonable. There is a little Mexican restaurant within walking distance, but it is closed on weekends and Tuesday afternoon after 2pm. Not fancy but the food is great and the people who run it are nice. There is also a bank and ATM down same street as the bridge. Further down is Burger King. That is as far as my Crocs would take me.

Stayed one night.. Great price. Not much in town close to Marina. Owner Operator came and picked us up to get provisions. Owner Operator really went out of their way to help us out. Easy docking on long wall of dock. You have to call ahead if you need a ride to town. City water had an advisory so we did not use the water. Shower is great, real clean, worth it. Lady that took us to town was really nice and enjoyable to talk to. Would stay here again, good place to rest up. Mexican Restaurant within walking distance but was closed the day we were there.

Quaint Marina, 2015-01-14
Captain: , Lizella GA (1826)

The lady that run theis dock are so thoughtful. The golf cart is currently broken but the lady took me in her car to get supplies. You dock, get an envelope and put your money in the box. Couldn't be simpler. Docks are getting old and the city water is terrible but the marina folks are wonderful.

Nice little stop., 2014-12-12
Captain: , Palmetto, FL (504)

Tied up early in the afternoon. West side of docks have a ground issue, east side power is just fine. Single bathroom and shower are clean with plenty of hot water. Short walk to Antojito's mexican restaurant. Small, but with delicious authentic food. Had a small festival with fireworks.

Fine place to stop for the night, 2014-08-11
Captain: , philadelphia (440)

The facilities are pretty good, though, as one reviewer mentioned, the docks are way too high for a sailboat. The dock gets city water but it's yellow and very metallic. The sink in the "lounge" has clean water. In Moore Haven itself, there's not much, though it's very friendly. A man helped us tie up when we came in and he turned out to be the mayor. Also, the library's just down the street and a good place to get out of the heat.

Totally moored, 2014-06-13
Captain: , Galveston, TX (599)

Dry season, fixed dock, quite a jump up from a sailboat. Not a site-seeing destination. City dock is even higher. Thought we were crossing the Lake but ended up in Clewiston.

No frills, but pleasant., 2014-03-25
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Tie along docks, honor system of payments. Clean showers and restrooms across street. We planned on tieing at city dock three hundred feet further to the east, but four forty footers or less took up the entire dock. Mexican place was OK, but staff was very friendly and place was busy. It's more than a "just a few" blocks from here, though.

RiverHouse For Sale, 2014-03-23
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1144)

The RiverHouse dock, marina and apartments are up for sale. I believe the owners are older and may not be able to maintain the premises, as before. The power worked fine and our two day stay (because of storms) was safe but I would feel more comfortable on the newer and better maintained city dock in a large boat. The city dock is considerably higher than RiverHouse, about 1 1/2 foot, which you may need to consider.

Good stop over, 2014-02-15
Captain: , Southport, NC (716)

We arrived after hours so we used the drop box. Honor system. Used 50 amp hook up, then went to eat at a local Mexican restuarant walking distance. Real authintic food. Dock is old but sturdy. Power is a whopping 250Volt. Never seen that before. It was a very peacefull night and we left 0800 the next morning to cross Okeechobee. Spend the night, not a fortune.

One Night Stop, 2014-02-13
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Riverhouse Marina is really just a long dock where you can tie up for the night. Not much protection as it is right on the river. The fee of $1 per foot is by honor system, just drop your check in the lock box at the dock. Does have 30 and 50 amp power. Unisex bathroom across the street was clean. No water, no fuel, no pumpout, no WIFI, no cable TV, no courtesy car, no dock help.
All that said, we rode out an evening of thunderstorms at River House, so I appreciated their sturdy fixed docks.

It's nice, and the best part it's cheap, 2014-01-21
Captain: , Rocky Hock N.C. (30)

A buck a foot, with electric and ice, clean rest room, and a shower that could hold 8 people, we will be back, mexican restaraunt about 2 blocks away.

Beware of the water supply, 2014-01-14
Captain: , Toronto ON (192)

The reviews are largley correct, but we found, in washing down the boat, that the dock water has a brown color which left stains which were not easy to remove. Glad I didn't put any in my tanks. I don't know if the color affects potability or not.

A great place for a $1.00 a foot, 2013-08-08
Captain: , Montgomery Alabama (1102)

Called June the harbormaster and she said to tie up and she would be along . We were able to use the golfcart to go up to the BP station a mile away and fill our gas jugs . The marina is a nice place , clean shower , and a nice lounge with a book exchange . The pool is for the apartment renters , but she gave us permission to swim in it . Free ice and free use of the golf cart The docks are adequate with a higher dock for the taller boats . The City docks are a little nicer , but with free ice and golfcart , we will comeback to River house Marina .

A nice place to tie up when the winds are coming., 2013-04-12
Captain: , Buffalo (832)

We were suppose to tie up to the City Docks, but after we were secure, we found out we were here. Both are the same price and no one was around. We wrote a check out to Riverhouse and dropped it in the lock box, then about 8 p.m. Judy, a sister in law, came by to check on us to see if we were okay. The single shower/restroom was across the street, but clean. We didn't use the shower. No real restaurants in walking distance, but we were tempted to sign in as guests at the Eagle club about 100 yards away.

A nice place to stop, 2012-08-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

We thought we were going to the City docks but by the time we tied up we realized we were at the Riverhouse "Marina" - actually a face docks next to the City docks. Power and water for $1/ft. Never found a place to pay so we used the box to leave our payment. No wake problems but you do hear a lot of trains go by, even during the night.

It is what it is, 2012-03-08

Friendly lady at a place to stop before or after the lake. Have what you need to spend a night.

Ghost town, 2009-02-08
Captain: , Jacksonville Florida (125)

This dock is right next to the city dock to the west. When I docked I couldn't find anyone they have a box to put your money or check in. It's $1 a foot same as the city dock. The one shower they have is adequate they do have a outside lounge with an ice machine with free ice. If I go back i'll go to the city dock I got waked pretty bad after dark. The dock isn't far from the no wake zone sign. If you dock here go as far east as you can. Docks are fixed and power poles are new with 30 and 50 amp hookups. Nothing else here.
