Approach

The ride up the river to Ritchie takes about thirty minutes from the first wharf (Station) that you come to. There is plenty of water from the Bay up to Ritchie; just stay in the charted channel and follow the well-placed marks (not on the latest charts, though the channel is). Plan on arriving on a flood and leaving on an ebb tide, as it can be 3 knots.

Reviews for Ritchie Wharf
The friendly people are the best part, 2015-08-06
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2709)

The pros are the free price, wonderful people, and groceries/liquor within a short walk.

The cons are the very noisy floating docks anytime there is a ripple on the riiver. It gets better after dark for sure.

We were there in early Aug for the Folk Song Festival and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very friendly town dock. Can't beat the price, as it's free. No power is available, you'll need a long hose for water fill up. There is a fair bit of current, which reverses with the tide. Depth is good, with 14 feet at low tide. Live music every evening at the dockside park. Breakfast at Goodies restaurant, cocktails, pub food at The Boulevard.

Not to be missed!, 2014-08-06

Our visit to Ritchie Wharf was added as a last minute decision & we're so glad we made it! The wharf fronts a city park that holds nightly summer music performances. Since we arrived on a Sunday, we were treated to afternoon and evening performances - both very good. The warmth and friendliness of the locals is astounding - the nicest group of people ever! We were invited to a local festival on Middle Island by Shelly Williams, City Councilwoman for Mirimichi and had a wonderful day being shown around the area by Shelly and her husband, Steve. The area is rich with history and Shelly is a wonderful guide. If you are cruising the Down East Circle Route, be sure to treat yourself to a stay on the Mirimichi.

Limited dockage, lots of wakes, 2013-06-26
Captain: , Coconut Grove, FL (589)

We arrived in a calm sea on a Sunday, agree with everything said in prior review. However, docks are very noisy and would recommend anchoring out and tender in. Grocery and liquor are both a walk away and will loan carts if you ask nice.

A great experience: The nicest people you'll ever meet, 2009-08-07

What a welcoming town! We may now know more people, and more about the people, in Miramichi than we know in our own home town. The good weather brings them out in droves to the Richie Wharf for food, daily music, and lots of companionship. Our boat and dog became quick hits and we found ourselves making friends immediately. Captain Azade of the Miramichi River Boat Tours and his team (Karen, Dave, Terry and Shane) were always around to help, whether it was coffee and donuts in the morning or helping to diagnose a potential engine issue. Karen carted us around for sightseeing; and we had no fewer than four separate offers of loaner cars ("just take the keys, their in the ignition"). We also met so many others that showed great kindness, including Sonny, Wendy, Albert, and many more. This was a real highlight of our Down East Loop trip. Who could have guessed!

You won't find anything other than 115V power and water in the way of facilities. Plenty of depth and the floating piers are sufficient even for our 110,000 lb displacement boat.
