Secure Place to Park & Leave Boat or Winter, 2013-09-08
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

Late Review: We spent 7 weeks here during April/May 2013 doing engine cooling system upgrades. Call ahead for a reservation We had numerous trawler type boats there that folks left to fly home for a while. Harbor Master Cory was very help full during our stay. Dockage included 50 Amp Electric. Cable T.V. Get a loaner box from office. Call them a few days before you want to come in to set up reservation. Most of the Sport fishing Boats go to Florida in the Winter so this frees up dockage and a good place to winter your boat. Dock crew comes in around 10 a.m. as the Regular customers are self sufficient. Fuel is at the end of the basin at the Ripley Light Marina Dry Stack Storage. All the Big Sport Fishing boats fuel up there. Enjoyed watching the big fish being fileted on the tables California Dreaming just a short walk West Marine not to far. Most Contact is on the telephone, and they work.

Very clean and secure, 2012-11-20
Captain: , Where ever the hook is (573)

Stopped in here for 5 nights, very nice, clean marina, helpful staff, seem very caring and know how to handle a line when you hand it to them. You will need a 50 amp plug for the shore power so if you use 30 amp cords, get an adapter. Wifi is good, bathrooms clean and laundry is available at the Marriott across the street. Piggly Wiggly a short walk too.

Great Stay, 2012-10-22
Captain: , Southport, NC (716)

We arrived at almost dead low tide. We didnt see shallow water but we followed the dock hands instructions staying to the left of the channel. The channel was plenty wide. Although when spinning the boat around it was kinda tight. I wouldnt recommend a full keel sailboat but, with twin motors it wasnt a problem. The dock hands were nice and helpfull. We never could get the cable TV to work because of some sort of de-scrambler box issue with the cable Company (only negative). No current, out of the way, protected slip, quite, friendly locals. It doesnt get much better. Ate at California Dreaming two times. Not really that close to any grocery stores. Clean showers. Overall a great place. We will be back

Excellent Protection, 2012-01-26
Captain: , Wrightsville, NC (270)

As stated earlier, Ripley Light offers great protection from the current. California Dreaming offers great food, great views but very noisy atmosphere. Beware of the dock at California Dreaming, very shallow water.

Very happy here, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

Stayed here two weeks - one week away - very quiet, no wake, no current, protected, very nice facilities. Helpful staff (always available), floating docks and a $6 cab ride to downtown Charleston. We didn't feel like a target, which we do at the big marina across the Ashley. Entrance channel didn't seem particularly narrow to us.

Excellent staff, narrow channel, 2011-04-01
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (671)

The staff have been very helpful to us -- coming in early to help us cast off, suggesting places to eat. The channel is very tight, and a first-time transient will have a hard time finding and entering their slip. But it's well sheltered from the wind. There's one restaurant in walking distance (California Dreaming) but the food there is good. If it weren't for the tight channel, this would be five stars.

Great fishing marina, 2010-10-26
Captain: , Charkeston, SC (22)

Ripley Light is the most active sport fishing marinas in the Charleston area.

Preferred Alternative Marina/Charleston, 2010-10-10
Captain: , Emerald Isle, NC (300)

Stayed 10/08/-10/09/10. $1.75 per foot. NO CURRENT !!! Great alterntive to the other marinas with heavy currents. Fuel in adjacent marina. Pool available at next door hotel. Very courteous dock hand. No loaner. All slips are privately owned we understand. Floating docks with long finger piers. Grocery store/ABC store/mall/post office/banks within 2 miles by bike path. Not good for downtown/historic area unless you take a taxi. Did we say "NO CURRENT."

Easiest Charleston Marina, 2008-10-12
Captain: , Charleston, SC (267)

No current in the marina, but there is a shoal to the left going in from the harbor. The California Dreaming dock there can dry at low tide.

Calm Waters, 2008-07-04
Captain: , Kiawah Island, SC (152)

The facilities here are very nice and there is no current to fight when coming and going. The creek is narrow enough so it is protected from most of the wind. And did I say there is no current? You don't find that often in these waters.
