Reviews for Richmond County Yacht Club
Limited amenities during construction, 2015-07-02
Captain: , Duluth, mn (120)

Friendly club but potapotties only and no showers. V slow Launch required followup call on two occasions even though not busy. Looks new clubhouse will be gorgeous and sturdy, schedulled to be completed dec 2015. Advice we got was hug reds going out.

best kept secret in NYC, 2015-06-29
Captain: , staten island,ny (120)

Well protected harbor in any condition. Well marked. The club is still rebuilding, but most systems are up. Mooring rentals are reduced to $25 during construction. Great area restaurants, plus shopping, all walking distance.

Full disclosure : I'm a happy member

The club and it's members are great. Nice pub also. Walk to the beech from here.

Hard to imagine you are in NYC, 2013-09-12

This is a surprisingly charming harbor. Richmond County launch (Ch 9) guided us to a guest mooring. $45 for the night since we didn't have a yacht club repricocity. Didn't really avail ourselves to services other than the launch, but the launch operator was prompt, pleasant, and professional. There are restaurants across the street, and more up the hill about 3/4 of a mile. Quiet, pleasant night on the mooring

You might have seen Great Kills after the storm. I am so sorry for all those people who lost their boats and property after Sandy. It was horrible to go back after storm and see it in person. We left our boat on the mooring ball and she made it. We lost both of our sails and rigging was partially damaged. For us this was the best hurricane hole ever. We hope next time when we are in NYC the Great Kills marinas will be back in shape.

Mooring balls!!!, 2012-09-11
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (328)

Large harbor with MANY, MANY mooring balls. Call Richmond County Launch on VHF channel 9 upon entering the harbor. They will guide you to a mooring ball. They will also pick you up and drop you off anytime of the day or evening. GREAT service. The YC bar is small, inexpensive and VERY friendly. Cost is $45
FYI: Each mooring ball has it's own lines. Do not use your own.

Great Launch Service, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Sea Cliff, NY (1022)

$45 bucks for the mooring. The launch service was absolutely first rate. Very responsive and super friendly. Nice bath/shower facilities (new a year ago). This is a great place to get started from when heading down the Jersey coast. Sometimes it can be difficult to find room behing the Atlantic Highlands breakwater, and this provides a great, very safe harbor for the night before the long leg offshore. Requires some type of yacht club affiliation.

a good stop, 2012-08-09
Captain: , Portsmouth, RI (260)

Mooring $45 includes tender service. Harbor is a key hole with well marked channel. Food and drink is available at club. They have ice cubes and block available.Staff and members very friendly. We were offered a ride to a grocery store.

Richmond County YC, 2012-06-09
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (551)

They asked about yacht club affiliation. I used MTOA and didn't even get asked for my card. Mooring is $45 including launch service. Launch service available from 9 AM - 11 PM on weekeknds. Verify with launch driver. Nice spot. Although they accepted our credit card for the mooring, they would only take cash for our lunch inside the club.

Nice, Friendly Club, 2012-02-06
Captain: , Atlantic Highlands (214)

Once you are inside it is an excellent harbor-lots of protection. I like the northeast corner, away from most of the boat traffic. Club has good launch service with courteous operators. Nice restaurant as well, although get there before Labor Day-after that the dining schedule is limited if available at all. There are also other eating options within walking distance.

Very warm and friendly Club, 2011-10-01
Captain: , Cruising (3259)

Great location - absolutely wonderful people. Note that the mooring price has gone up over the summer and is now $45/night.

Good stop for us., 2011-07-02
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1290)

6/12/11 Stopped to wait out current to enter the East River, and also to catch up with family. Staff at RCYC was great and very friendly. Mooring ball was $35 with good launch service and friendly staff, and a safe harbor. We walked/ran the enire area to Nichols Park. Great Russian gorcery up on Hyland Blvd to the left a few blocks. Interesting. Restaurant, Marina Cafe, was very good.

A Favorite on the Bay, 2011-05-27
Captain: , Keyport, NJ (19)

Extremely well protected, among my favorite places to spend the night. Channel looks like it will put you on the beach, but it's no problem - well marked and carries 8' at the lowest I've seen recently. Restaurant and bar at the club; also several restaurants near by. Tom Tomato grocery store about a mile walk into town. This is a great jumping off point for timing a run through the Hell Gate.

Very nice Yacht club with clean restrooms and showers. Courteous launch operaters.
Great restaurants 1 -2 blocks away. Good Ice Cream store 1 block away. Easy harbor to enter but be sure to follow channel. Protected from all sides.
