Reviews for Renaissance Vinoy Resort Marina
Enjoy the ammendities, 2016-06-29
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (80)

Still our favorite stop, enjoy what the Renaissance Vinoy has to offer. Wes and Lonnie are very accommodating. Restrooms/showers located in hotel, good access from marina. Numerous restaurants within walking distance. Publix easy bike ride, is walkable. Watch the weather.

Location and resort amenities, 2016-06-18
Captain: , Longboat Key FL (30)

Small marina size means short dock walks. Just toss your lines to Wes and he will tie you up correctly for off-stern access to floating dock/ramp. Vinoy across the street (10% resort discounts included in dockage.) Pool, showers, food, all first rate. 2 blocks to Museum (very nice) and dozens of dining options.

Overall very good, 2016-05-22
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (70)

We just spent 8 days at the Vinoy marina and the onlly drawback was the occasional tlurbulence caused by the East wind that about everyone else also mentions. Wes the Dockmaster and all the rest of the marina staff were great, and the St Pete location was ideal. We saw most of the attractions, museums and eateries, and really enjoyed the ammenities at the resort as well. Great place to visit, too bad they can't get a seawall built.

Great Time Here, 2016-02-08

Location is great. We had a great time but did not have east winds to worry about. Only issue is it is over priced.

On a calm night I'd give it 5 stars, 2015-06-04

This marinia is a very beautiful location in a very walkable city. The location is perfect. You also have full use of the Vinoy's facilities. There is a nice pool, very clean showers, etc.
The problem here is the lack of a seawall and when the winds from the east are 10 knots or over the boat rocks like mad.
I read a review prior to staying that compared it to sleeping in a washing machine, I wish I had heeded the warning!!
There are a lot of great things about this marina, but if you plan to spend much time on your boat, rething staying here.
The dockmaster Wes is a heck of a nice guy and very, very helpful. We had some issues with our boat and he was there to help every step of the way.

Not as bad as reported, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Severna Park, MD (15)

Just spent a week at the Vinoy and enjoyed the marina and the resort amenities. Three days we had the dreaded East winds but it was not as bad as reported. Only complaint is that they do not have weekly rates only day and monthly. Our friends monthly bill was only a little higher than our one week bill. If we stay less than a month next year in St. Pete, we may stay somewhere else, sadly.

Amazing Locaion rolling marina, 2015-03-09
Captain: , Marina Jack, Sarasota (50)

Winds out of the NE rolled the marina for the 30 hours we were in

The Vinoy facility and staff are just amazing and downtown St. Petersburg had so much to do we will definetly be back but will make sure either no wind or at least out of another direction

Very Nice Marina...Could be rough, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Apollo Beach - Tampa, FL (361)

Stayed Saturday 5/20/2013. Great location in downtown St. Pete. Quality marina with great accommodations and staff. A little more expensive that most marinas at about $2.40/ft. As a marina guest you can use the first rate Vinoy resort hotel pool, sauna, showers, etc. First class. The down side is if you have strong winds from the East the marina%u2019s harbor basin gets very rough. Makes it a difficult night sleep. Check the winds and this is a real nice place to stay as a treat. Would stay again under the right wind conditions.

Top notch facility and resort, 2013-10-21
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (648)

This review only gets three stars because of an issue the Vinoy has no control over: The marina and harbor can be miserable in an easterly wind. Waves come in the entrance, then bounce off the western sea wall. The result can best be described as a washing machine! The marina itself is definitely 5 stars, and you pay for it at $2.40 a foot, but you do get to use the fantastic facilities at the Vinoy.

Be careful at Vinoy, 2013-09-23
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Stayed 9/22/13. Great location, great marina, terrible harbor. Winds shifted at night started coming from ESE at 10-15. Got really rough at the T head we were moored to. Ended up bending a rail by a fender getting caught on the fixed concrete dock. The mooring field is a little more protected but not much, $2.40/ft. Downtown St Pete is right there as is a Publix about 15 min walk away. Too bad the harbor is so exposed any winds from NE to SE otherwise this is a must see stop. Went to a Rays game using shuttle from Vinoy and ate at one of many restaurants within 10 min walk. Very safe area to walk or bike.

Great Place, but can be lumpy, 2012-12-22
Captain: , Tampa, Florida (243)

Thi is a great location and downtown St. Pete has really deveoped into a wonderful place to explore and the nightlife there is robust with a number of great restaurants. The vinoy is elegant and dockage gets you resort privleges. The staff is very helpful and couteous. The negative is that the basin does get a little lumpy when there is a wind from the east. Other than that negative, we have always enjoyed the Vinoy.

Well protected, small marina, top quality. Jan 21, 2012, 2012-01-25
Captain: , Gull Bay, Lake George, NY (274)

Chartered a Catalina 350 from Florida Yacht Charters, which is based here. Nice, clean marina. Fixed, concrete docks. Easy in and out. They several grills and picnic tables for use. One head at the marina, need to go to the Vinoy resort for showers, etc. Lots of places to eat and wander in downtown. Upscale for sure.Publix is about a 20 minute walk.

Eating in style, 2011-10-11
Captain: , palmetto (227)

Alfresco for sandwiches, salads and grilled entrees was a good choice. We have eaten here on numberous occassions, and have always had impecable service along with good eats!

Great Facility ... but!, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Clearwater (326)

The Vinoy marina has just been totally refurbished and is a great facility with a good concrete docks. However, I agree entirely with the other comments. In strong Easterlies the movement is strong and very uncomfortable.

dont like it, 2009-10-06
Captain: , FL West Coast (136)

New concrete docks, great location, great views, easy acess to everything but since there is no breakwater it is untenable with strong easterlies

Vinoy Resort, 2009-05-30
Captain: , Naples, FL (45)

Great place. A lot to do around town. Resort is within walking dist to restaurants, shops, museums, etc...
One caution the basin is very choppy with an East wind. The waters can get up to 3 feet at the docks. Otherwise it would get a 5 star rating.

Vinoy Marina has been wiped out for 2+ years. Not a good place in an easterly wind
