Red Ball: Red Frog has a red barrel in 35 to 40 feet of water where you turn to port from the deep water channel (between Isla Bastimentos and Isla Solarte/Nancy) towards the marina. Right red return. You will be lined up on the marina then (masts visible over the mangroves) and heading through the anchorage towards a mangrove. At the left edge of the mangrove there is a red ball, in 14 feet of water. Giving it a wide berth and leaving it to starboard will get you around the mangrove in deep water and into the marina harbor.

Terrific marina! Piers in grt shape, w/long finger piers. Clean, good water from man-made wells. Protected, scenic area, with no wakes. Gated, w/24 hour security. Staff is friendly and attentive, with much knowledge of customs, immigration. etc. Showers and laundry ample and clean. Free panga to town, 4 days a week. Access to beautiful Red Frog Resort property, set in rain forest, with beaches, jungle trails and restaurants. FIVE STARS! You won't want to leave. For more details, visit

Excellent Marina, 2017-03-07

Red Frog Marina is one of the best we have experienced. If you are waiting to go thru the canal this is a much better option. Beautiful slips, independent service is available and the beach and restaurants are a short walk.

Good for Hurricane Season, 2015-07-18
Captain: , Port Angeles Washington (272)

We decided to stay in the marina for hurricane season. Good docks. Good water (7 cents/gal). Electricity is 40 cents kwh. VERY protected and calm most of the time. Good hiking and beaches. Free water taxi to Bocas Town 4 times a week - otherwise $5 each way. Nice crowd of people but there is no cruiser lounge, cabana or designated work/project area.

Great Marina!, 2015-04-25

We just love Red Frog Marina! Great people and wonderful facilities. And located in Paradise!

great facility, well priced, good management team, modern with good laundry, wifi, and a real surf beach. Free panga ride to and from town makes shopping very easy - better than attempting the dinghy tie up headache at Bocas Town.

Terrific locaton!, 2014-11-14
Captain: , Bayfield, WI and the ICW (1390)

You can access the bay or gulf fom this perfectly protected location. Visit Bocas del Toro which soe folks descrbe as what Key West was like 40 years ago.

Great marina, 2014-11-14
Captain: , Sidney, BC (167)

We spent a couple of weeks here. It was very quiet, beautiful scenery, and we had no bugs at all (as mentioned by previous review).

The docks are in good shape. The cleats can be moved to the location that best suits your boats' tie up needs.

The restaurant Punta Lava is a 15 to 20 minute walk, or you can rent a golf cart. It's on the other side of the (narrow) island. On a long, expansive beach with crashing waves. Very scenic and delightful. Great food. Fish fresh off the boat. And good ambiance. One of my favorite hangouts so far!

The town of Bocas is 10 min by tender or water taxi. You can get groceries and/or items from the hardware store there. The crowded, touristy scene is not our favourite, so we much preferred the serenity of Red Frog.

Red Frog, nice but maybe it should be called Dead Frog?, 2014-09-11
Captain: , Singapore (66)

Very well sheltered, good facilities (docks, showers, electrics, water), but no bar on site, and no restaurant (the bars mentionned elsewhere are on a beach about 20 minutes walk away). 15 minutes boat taxi ride away from Bocas town. This place could be really nice, but nothing is done for the yachts, apart from the facilities above. What, a marina without a bar??? Good value for boaters who want to leave their boat during the off-season (way cheaper than Shelter Bay)

Best in the Bocas, 2013-11-05
Captain: , London (709)

New marina, very sheltered and safe. New showers and toilets and free boat trips to Bacas town twice a day. Great dinghy exporing area, good beaches a short walk across the Island to the seaward side.
$6 per foot per week with the price dropping the longer you stay.
Free WiFi
Great place to leave the boat for a trip home.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and know what they are doing.

Very calm and safe, 2013-01-26

If you like a building lot, than you have to go there. They are building hundreds of luxury villas in the rain forest(were the rain forest was before) and all the material gets unloading right beside the marina. Sometimes you have loud noise until 10 in the night and on sunday they start at 6 in the morning. Your boat will gets covered with a black oil film from the generator and the trucks! Also if you have a dog with you, it is not a place to go. When I was there, they killed! 4 dogs. 3 were homeless but one, a puppy, had a owner. The food in the restaurant is very low quality and bad. The docks are new and nice. At my time they had no toilets! I payed 13,5$/ft

Top marina in Boca area, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Long Beach (983)

First class marina with good power and nice docks. Should now have power to all slips. Some of the close to shore slips can be buggy during the wet season. Beach bar was great. Free launch service to town once a week. Good place to leave the boat to fly home. Friendly, helpful staff.

Red Frog Beach Marina, 2010-05-17
Captain: , Bastimentos, Bocas del Toro, Panama (20)

This is a new marina that lies on the southern side of Isla Bastimentos. The Marina will have 84 berthing spaces Spring/Summer 2010. Over 15 feet deep and the Marina is attached to many resort amenities and very nice beaches. The docks are timbertech and very nice. Prices are the best in the region here.
