Reviews for Rebel Marine Service
Really Neat Place, 2017-08-17
Captain: , Beaufort, SC (541)

This is one of the best run, cleanest, functional marinas we have been at in a long time. David has been around boats all of his life and runs a tight ship. Ammenities include coutesy car, hot tub on the deck, gas grill on the deck, very nice captains lounge, moibile pump out service - comes to your boat, substaintial floating docks, super clean rest rooms and shower. Wi-Fi is strong even at the end of the dock system.

Great place, 2017-06-15
Captain: , Montreal (90)

Always good to be back here!

Stopped again this year with a friend's boat. Same usual welcome! Lots of new docks this year. Really worth a stop!

Dave is a great host. This facility is a bargain don't anchor. You will be happy you docked! I mean courtesy car included, could you ask for more?!

Nice secure place with great people, 2016-10-13
Captain: , Norfolk (56)

I work here sometimes and can tell you the atmosphere is welcoming, the docks fairly new and has a cool club house. Sometimes you will hear music from the live aboards playing. If you want a taste of Norfolk, try the Sunset Grill right next door. Kathy is always doing new things on the stove.

Dockage Rate Correction, 2016-06-29
Captain: , Richmond Hills, GA (230)

A friend who lives nearby recommended this marina, so we called to confirm space was available on
Saturday, 4/30/16 as we neared Willoughby Bay. With several days of bad weather predicted, we had hoped for a stay X nights, get Y night free. Not only was the owner unwilling to consider this, but the $1.50 rate shown for BoatUS members is now $2. When we mentioned that Active Captain shows the lower rate, he shrugged it off, giving the clear perception that he couldn't care less if we stayed there or not. We continued across Hampton Roads to Old Point Comfort Marina, which offers a $5.50/foot weekly rate.

Great marina, 2016-03-29

Rebel marina is a very good marina. Staff is great and helpful. The place is clean, you have full kitchen available. Car available for guest.

Great Marina, 2015-11-19
Captain: , Grass Valley CA (50)

We are so glad we found Rebel Marina. It is well located for The Chesapeake, the Atlantic or the ICW, the airport and all amenities. The owner David Briggs is a delightful man and so helpful and welcoming as are Dale and Jamie who assist him. The floating docks are pristine. Great wifi, immaculate bathrooms, a pot luck on Monday, mobile pump out, courtesy cars - this is really home away from home. David has great stories and is extremely knowledgable about boats. He referred us to all the services we needed and his referrals were excellent. Everyone we met here is friendly and welcoming. We had mail and parcels delivered with no problems. We will return whenever we are going up or down the east coast. In 10,000nm miles we have never been to a better marina.

Great Place to Stay!, 2015-11-06
Captain: , Florida (50)

Moving our new to us Hunter 420 from Port Jefferson, NY to Brunswick, GA we were fourtunate to find David and his great marina. Very quiet and very laid back. David the owner met us on the dock to help us get settled. I will be staying there again when we are back in the area..

Great marina, 2015-11-04
Captain: , St. Catharines, ON Canada (40)

Rebel Marina is a first class marina. Captain Dave and his staff make you feel very welcome, and they are constantly checking to make sure that you have everything you need. It was great to have access to their loaner vehicles. Great marina to stay at.

Dave is a great host and gentleman, 2015-07-05
Captain: , Lac Champlain (105)

Dave is a great host and gentleman. We chatted with him, very friendly. This installation is a fun don't be missed.

There is possibility to take a passenger vehicle, possible shower and a very nice kitchen if we need to make our supper. Wow, a reasonable amount for services. Rebel Marina.

What more? thank you.

Great place, friendly people, 2015-06-23
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (201)

Stayed there one night on my way north. They let me borrow the courtesy vehicle. Place is very clean and well maintained and the staff was great. They have a grill if you want to grill, a full kitched if you want to prepare a meal, and a nice little lounge area. Only complaint is that the outer docks are exposed to a south wind, which is what we had and which is where they had put me.

Great Marina, 2015-06-08
Captain: , Portland, OR (381)

We spent two nights there while Harborfest was unfolding downtown. A little remote but David was very accommodating. Since no one was going to be using one of the loaner cars on Harborfest Saturday, he let us have it for the day. We did some provisioning in the morning and the drove it to a park and ride for the Tide light rail station. Spent the afternoon and evening exploring the Harborfest and walking the historic district. If you go to the Harborfest. Don't miss the Tugmuster.

The facilities were excellent with the cleanest bathrooms and showers we've seen. WiFi actually worked. Floating docks were very well built and in excellent repair.

Met many folks keeping their boats there and they were all extremely welcoming, nice and helpful.

We'll be back.

Great stop!, 2015-05-13
Captain: , Hallowell, Maine (240)

We were welcomed warmly and assited by David, the owner, and promptly invited to their Monday night pot luck dinner, which was lots of fun. The common space, large kitchen and deck area foster a very pleasant communal feeling. Facilities are great and car readily available for guests. There aren't a lots of transient spots so probably a good idea to call ahead.

Love it!! Super friendly community, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (40)

We have had our Ericson 32 here since August of 2014 and have really grown to love Rebel! Dave (owner) is very helpful and fanatical (in a good way) about keeping things clean and well-maintained. As a local resident (weekend cruiser), we love the community/family feel of the marina, including the welcoming attitude toward cruisers who frequent the transient docks. My family and I really enjoy interacting with different folks from all walks of life who share a common passion for boating (mainly sailing). We plan to be here for a long, long time!!

No control what so ever, 2014-12-22
Captain: , Cape Cod, MA (10)

I was there for July 4th, when some idiot decides, since he didn't have fireworks, would be to shoot off some old flares. One misfires and lands on a very nice boat and burns a nice square foot area. The owner of the marina did nothing about it. Then the same guy drives his Harley down the main dock, again the owner does nothing. So the rules apply to some people just not all. Good luck with this one, I would avoid it.

Captain: , Caloundra, Qld, Australia (10)

Spent winter 2013-14 here after hearing lots of good reports. From the first day, it was like we have known David for 20 years. We don't use marinas much but this one tops the lot for the help and hospitality of everyone we met there. Monday night dinners are great with the local crew who made us most welcome. The marina is being upgraded this winter with replacing the fixed docks with floating. Do yourself a favour and go meet the Rebel crew if you can get in.

Cruiser Friendly!, 2014-08-28
Captain: , Cortez,FL (20)

Stopped here mid August 2014 on a cruiser recommendation and after meeting Dave, the Marina owner, in Oriental. Felt like home right away. Easy on off transient dock, new clean showers and restrooms, full lounge with kitchen. Courtesy car as well and the best staff! Dave and Jamie go out of their way to make you feel at home. We will return!

Home away from home!, 2014-02-26

Great atmosphere and even better people! Clean restrooms, marina lounge, hot tub and shuttle available. The owner is friendly and has a lot of knowledge about the local waterways.

Great place to stay!!, 2013-05-05
Captain: , Worton Creek, MD (60)

Wonderful marina to wait out weather or just overnight. The owner, Dave, is extremely helpful and experienced in all types of boating.

Marina has new, CLEAN showers, lounge with widescreen TV and full kitchen, WIFI, outdoor decks with tiki bar, grill, and hot tub. Big plus is a courtesy car to run for groceries, laundry, or dinner out! This is our second stay here and I expect we will be back :)
Boat US Discount is $1.50/ft. Electric and water available.

Great Stop, 2013-04-19
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We loved meeting the owner and talking shop with him about cruising life. He went out of his way to welcome us and make us feel at home. Floating transient dockage made it easy for us to get in and out with a hard to menauver 53' motor sailor. The lounge has a full kitchen in addition to a grill, showers and a hot tub which was a nice option. We enjoyed watrching what we assumed to be Navy Seals doing drop and recover exercises out of a helicopter in the bay and also the restaurant next door. We will definitely be back here. Just watch out for crab traps on your way in and out - even in the channel.

Great Marina, 2012-11-15
Captain: , Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (366)

We met the owner/manager, Dave while travelling south on the Oswego Canal. We found him to be very knowledgable about the waterway and the intercoastal to Florida. On arriving at his facility we chose to stay 3 nights, which were the highlight of our cruise.
A small community of friendly liveaboard and transient cruisers. The lounge area and heads are very clean and painted brightly.
Good WiFi connection.
On leaving Dave personally went over charts and pointed out any areas of concern. Well worth the stop.

Definitely a new favorite!, 2012-11-14
Captain: , Newport, RI (156)

This place was perfect for me. I spent a month here doing a bit of work on the boat and travelling a bit. They have a great culture of liveaboards and attract knowledgable transients. Monday night pot-lucks, morning coffee, and the hot tub (yep, you read that right) make for an awesome spot! Any time I'm anywhere near, I'll stay here...

Best Marina I have seen!, 2011-11-24
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (86)

Rebel is BEST Worth the stop!

I echo the other reviewer's comments below. The owner is a wonderful experienced sailor. He is a Alaska and Tug Boat Captain. Many years of experience backpacking all over mother earth. Many stories. He knows people and what they need while cruising. He provides those in exquisite detail. Hot Tub is great! Courtesy Car is great! His daughter is a Biology Teacher.

Closest marina to the Chesapeake Bay.
We stayed here for one night (wish we could have stayed longer) and plan to come back for a month in the springl. The staff and residents were professional, super nice and helpful. The Heads and showers were new and really clean. They have a courtesy car for shopping and restaurants. there is also a hot tub on the deck and a fireplace in the lounge on those cold nights. A fireplace in the main lounge. Microwave. Cooking stove, all items needed are there.

We were treated like Family, 2011-09-09
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

We have stayed here a number of times and always have always been treated exceptionally well by both staff and other boaters. We left our boat there for a month in the Fall of '10 while we returned home for doctor appts. We especially enjoyed participating in the Thanksgiving Potluck - was like one big family. This marina is very well maintained and kept spotless.

Closest marina to the Chesapeake Bay, 2011-05-07
Captain: , Mullica Hill, NJ (688)

We stayed here for one night and plan to come back for a month in the fall. The managers and the residents were super nice and helpful. The Heads and showers were new and really clean. They have a courtesy car for shopping and restaurants. there is also a hot tub on the deck and a fireplace in the lounge on those cold nights.
If you want to see Norfolk it is a bit far, but for a stop before or after the Bay it is really convenient.
