Reviews for Queensway Quay Marina
Notes from a Recon Mission Even Though We Didn't Stay, 2017-07-17
Captain: , Annapolis MD (476)

We are staying at Ocean Village but walked down to Queensway to see what we might be missing at the marina and check out the restaurants. We decided we were happy we were staying at Ocean Village but could see the merits of Queensway as well. Queensway is just a completely different environment than OV. We would recommend Queensway for those who seek a quieter, live-aboard environment where being close to the supermarket (Morrisons) is more important than being close to the tourist and local food and nightlife sections of Gib, and when you don't mind being surrounded by bland existing buildings and significant high-rise condo and office construction. The docks are nice and seem to have good security, plus there is not nearly the amount of visitor/foot traffic as there is in OV. The water is very still and actually stagnant along the inner wall, so would lean toward being farther out on the piers to avoid any smell issues (which can be noticeable at the restaurants). The restaurants are very corporate and bland, with no local flavor or energy. The crowd seems to be wealthy Spaniards wiling away the afternoon in a quiet Med-like setting, as opposed to OV's more locals-focused scene. If we were to return to Gib for a long stay, after having already been a tourist there, we would likely stay at Queensway for the quiet and space. But for first-time visitors to Gib, we recommend OV for the reasons stated in our review of that facility.

Unhelpful Staff, 2017-05-21
Captain: , Ipswitch (252)

Used th be long term bearth holder here 10years back, so tryied to get a bearth for a week when passing inm May 2017. Very unhel;pful staff wanting us to keep calling back, and saying they had nothing available. 12m boat. Got a pl;ace at Ocean Bay and walked up to see why we could not get in. It was a third empty! Spoke to someone that had got in and he said he does not know why they are so unhelpful and it had taken a lot of persistance to get in, al;most like passing boats were a bit of a sideline.

Also the restraunts were all very empty, it has lost its buzz (saturday evening). Great shame.

Gib is great love it.

Wonderful marina and staff, 2016-10-12
Captain: , Shell Knob, MO (948)

Beautiful location, friendly and attentive staff, excellent restaurants (especially the curry), wonderful English tea, and a large grocery store a 15 minute walk away. Only downsides are a lot of dust that covers everything during the Levante and the boom that covers the approach to the harbor from 2100-0830, even though the office is open until 2200. And no, they will not open it outside that time for you, but can sometimes moor you nearby.

Beautiful marina, unfriendly staff, 2015-04-21

Liked the marina, but a little far from the night life. Very unfriendly staff tho...we had planned to stay longer, but left after one night.

A bit of England amid upscale environs in a historical spot. Ideal weather year around.

Pricey town but marina is great value, 2012-10-09
Captain: , Fremantle, West Australia (1448)

Very good mariina with highly professional staff. The city/state is expensive compared to surrounding Spain but if you want to stay in Gibraltar that's the cost!. Marina is not expensive, though.

Not a bad place to stop over. Cute town, limited provisioning unless you hire a taxi, clean and nice, reasonably priced dining just steps away fro the berths. European style berths.
