Reviews for Pungo Creek Marina
Beautiful Location, 2017-05-07
Captain: , Corpus Christi (406)

We stopped here to visit friends and wait out some weather.

The rates have increased a little but still great - we stayed 3 nights for $35/night including electricity.

I concur with previous reviews - rustic but solid fixed docks, Allan was great but the views were just great when the weather let up,
a bit of a drive into town but we had friends take us around.

Overall very good spot and we will stop again when in the area.

Mom and Pop style marina . New and improved in the last yr

If you are looking for a reasonable place to spend the night, this is it. The docks are fixed and the depths aren't bad. We draw 5' and did not have a problem. The bathrooms are a bit rustic but the water pressure is great! Allen the Dock Master as well as John & Rocco (some of the slip holders) helped us to get in without problems. They do sell gas & diesel.

The best part of Pungo Creek Marina are the rates. If you want a very reasonable marina this is the place. Rates are as follows: $29.00 per night any sized boat or $99.00 per month up to 30' and $125.00 per month over 30'.

30 amp power is $5.00

We had a good time there waiting for Bonnie to trudge up the coast.

Good and priced right, 2016-03-26

Allen, the dockmaster, is very helpful. The fixed $29 transient rate of very cheap including electricity and water. No pumpout but there is gas and diesel.

When we were there it was a bit run down but apparently has been renovated a bit. Owner at that time was nice. Good depths and easy to get into in daylight.

Friendly But Bare Essentials, 2014-10-26

Stopped here for the night after a long run down from the Alligator River. Due to squally conditions from the Northwest we were looking for a secure tie-up for the night. We draw 5.5 ft. and were concerned with access here. But the access channel to the docks was as advertised and Dockmaster Randy and some tennants were very helpful in getting us tied-up with an strong crosswind pulling into the slip. 50 amp power was available, but we elected to use our generator. The $29 rate (total cost) was about right...and appropriate. We were looking for a secure tie and accessable depth...and we found it. Not a destination marina, but a safe port in a storm.

not bad for the money but very basic, 2014-06-28

Stayed here 6-28-14 in our 43 foot Hatteras and enjoyed their $29. special per night. However, had it been any more I would have felt overcharged. the docks had extremely short finger piers (about 10') and virtually no protection from the wind and wave action. It is being run by a tenant at the marina, who is a very nice and helpful guy that sleeps on the floor of the office with his two dogs. The majority of the boats there look to be abandoned. The restrooms are clean and well stocked, and the 50 amp power worked fine, but you can tell that the absentee owners are trying to unload the place. The restaurant has been closed for some time. it is a long bike ride to any services, and no courtesy vehicle or pump out.

Off Season, 2011-01-23
Captain: , Ottawa, Canada (363)

The owner was on vacation and made arrangements for us remotely which was very good. We landed ourselves and got plugged in and set up before we had a visit. The facilities are fine, but given that they are off season the bar was closed and the WIFI did not extend to the dock. It would be a 4 star during full season.

REVIEW BY Belhaven Yacht Club, 2010-05-03

Bayside Marina is now a new and much better facility but is operating under new management and name.
The marina is now called Pungo Creek Marina. They have improved the launch ramps and docks. There are currently 48 slips. There are showers and bathrooms with laundry facilities. They will have Wi-Fi at the new Ship%u2019s Store and soon it will be extended to the docks. Each slip has water and power, half of them have 50 Amps.
Current rate for dockage is $1 per foot with a 30 foot minimum plus a separate charge for electric and use of the shower and laundry. The rates are certainly reasonable. They are reworking the old bar area to make it more of a club house setting. They will have a wide screen TV, tables, chairs sound system etc. They have begun installation of tanks and will be selling gas and diesel! That is good news for all local boaters.
For more information contact the new owner / manager Randy ONeal ( The website for the marina is You will find Randy to be most enthusiastic and helpful. He is making some major investments here and plans to make this a success. He has made a lot of changes in a short period of time.
