Reviews for Power Boats
Delivery Trip, 2016-01-09
Captain: , Barnstable (268)

We picked up a boat at Power Boats to deliver up the Windward Islands to Pointe a Pitre in Guadeloupe. The marina had all the basic services available. Highly recommend the little stand selling roti for lunch, but show up early before they run out. Chaguaramas was abuzz about pirate activity out of Venezuela when we were there. Be very careful leaving for Grenada from Trinidad!

Very Professionally run yard, 2015-01-26

We hauled and found that we had an issue with bottom painting done elsewhere. PB's Don and Brent said they would help resolve the issue and work with the other yard. They did so and saved me from a near disaster. This yard wants nothing more than to help you resolve problems and take care of your boat. All services are available and work is done professionally and well. Great yard for work. Don and Brent are stars. Maybe the best yard I have ever been in for work on the boat.

Great facility with a lot of services nearby, 2014-12-25

Original review June 2014.
We had decided to haul our boat in Trinidad for hurricane season and sent an e-mail to Power Boats requesting information. I got an immediate reply from the CEO (Don), since he handles all catamaran haul outs. By the time we got there on 16 May, I knew just what would be required to meet my needs. We took a slip the day we arrived. We had one engine out, so the marina put a boat in the water to help us back into the slip. The Yard Manager (Brent) was there to help us get tied up. The board they had for us to get ashore from our transom was too short, so he made sure we had a longer one in place right away. We had alternator problems on the trip down from Grenada, and Caribbean Marine Electrical came out to troubleshoot. Brian (owner) and Jesse (very knowledgeable and efficient technician) verified the problems and made sure I would be able to start both engines to get the boat hauled. Brian gave me a detailed quote with cost of all parts and encouraged me to see if I could get the parts cheaper while I was back in the U.S. Once I had checked out what I could get cheaper, he ordered the remaining parts and will have everything ready to make the needed repairs when I get back to the boat. We spent 4 nights in the slip getting the boat ready then were hauled out at high tide on the morning of the 20th. They use a special trailer to lift out catamarans, and Don drove the tractor and made sure everything was done correctly. We got blocked, power washed, and scraped down. One of the yard contractors, Clinton Brewster, came by and gave us an estimate on cleaning and fiberglass repair that needed to be done as well as patching the dinghy. His quote was very reasonable and he did an excellent job on gel coat repair and the dinghy. All his work was completed before we left for home on the 23rd. Jonas from Trinidad Rigging (next door at Peake Yacht Services) was measuring for new standing rigging and found a problem with the mast wall where the shrouds attached. I was able to check it out using the free cherry picker ride Power Boats included in the cost of haul out. Jonas spent a lot of time with me explaining the problem and how he would fix it to make it much stronger. I was very comfortable having him work on the boat while we were gone and his quote for the job was reasonable. He has pulled and repaired the mast and sent me photos. He will have it all back in place by the time we get back. I found Budget Marine, ATMs, and good restaurants and food vendors near the yard and we stayed in one of the apartments for a few days. The room was nice and price was very good. The local grocery was well stocked and had reasonable prices. Simone and all the other staff in the office were friendly and made sure we got everything we needed. I have already recommended Power Boats to others. I will update this review when we get back to the boat.
Update, November 2014.
While we were home for hurricane season the yard staff and contractors kept us informed of any issues and quickly responded to any queries I had. We returned to Trinidad in late October. Service continued to be excellent. All the contractors who came to work on the boat were very knowledgable and left their work area clean. The entire process of getting the boat ready, launching, and in-water repairs was facilitated by the excellent staff. This is a great place to leave your boat and to get just about any kind of work done.

Professionels to your service, 2014-09-11

A very good shipyard to repair and leave its boat during the cyclonic period.
Stores of chandlery and a good not too expensive restaurant.

Here you have to use "partner" companies, they have to pay 10-20% to the management and when as happend the destroy your canvas, cause the did not clean as wished but "bleach" it to dark brownish and destroy it, they refund nothing!

Although a home base for most of the local motor boats, Power boats has a huge number of sailboats on the hard and in slips. This is a DIY yard where you can also get contracted work. Foe a fee, Power Boats will project manage these contractors.
