Reviews for Portofino Harbour Marina and Yacht Club
Best marina in the area, 2015-08-12
Captain: , Kemah, TX (10)

Have kept our sailboat(s) here for the last 6 years, and love it.

Location is fantastic. Just a few minutes motor to the Kemah boardwalk and the bay. Target, West Marine, and plenty of good restaurants nearby also.

The marina is right on the Clear Creek channel, and there are two separate community areas for hanging out or partying right alongside the water. One is on the east side where the swimming pool and clubhouse are located. It tends to be fairly active on the weekends. The other is the peninsula on the west side of the marina, with picnic tables, BBQ pits and a boardwalk. This one tends to be pretty quiet, even on the weekends, if you prefer to avoid the hubbub around the pool. We've met lots of very friendly neighbors, many of whom have been here much longer than we have (which speaks well for the place).

The concrete floating docks are excellent, and facilities are well maintained. Management is very good, and easy to work with. Any issues that do come up are handled very quickly. As stated before, the bathroom and clubhouse facilities are a little dated, but they are always clean!

If you draw 6ft or more, there are some slips/fairways that won't work for you in the winter, but most of the inner harbor is actually 7ft or more year-round. Just check with the office to be sure you won't be bumping bottom.

The only pumpout "facility" is a self-serve dock cart. Never tried it myself, and don't plan to. Everybody uses a call-out service instead.

Before moving our boat here, we were at Watergate (good facilities, but too far from the bay for us) and at Seabrook Ship Yard (facilities were subpar then, but have improved at lot; location is just as good as Portofino, but not nearly as nice a place to hang out).

A nice marina. Real close to the bay. Pool right by the channel that is great for boat watching. The restroom area could use some updating though.

Hated to leave , 2013-11-09
Captain: , Port Aransas (992)

We stayed three weeks because it was cheaper than six days! Ask about the monthly rate if you want to stay a while and check out the area. The grounds were well kept and the staff was very accommodating. The laundry facility was the least expensive we have seen at $1 per load. The pool is beautiful with swings for watching the boats coming and going and sunsets.

They have a clubhouse for guest use with a big screen TV and kitchen facility.

Ice is sold in the office. Fuel is right across the channel.

We dinghied to dinner at Outriggers and loved their two dollar tacos on Tuesday nights.

The docks are floating and well maintained. We were very happy with our stay and hated to leave.

We came in on a low tide and it was dicey, we didn't bump with our 5'3" draft but deeper keel boats may have a problem. We left on a higher tide and it was no sweat.

This is THE place to stay IMHO!

Great marina. Very clean and helpful. Close to shopping, restaurants and diesel fuel. Only issue was no free Internet.

You can own a slip in the best location in this area. Great People owners not renters. You'll love it!
