Reviews for Port of Orillia
Great place to stop, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Bedford, NH (715)

Stayed one night, Aug 10. Docks are new and wonderful. Marina facility is still in temporary quarters with plans to start rebuilding in September. Close walk to good restaurant. Didn't see much else of town so can't comment. Once new facility is done, rating will probably be higher. Staff, very nice and helpful.

Great stop & Marina , 2016-08-05
Captain: , Blanco, TX (460)

Even with the facilities being in temporary buildings due to fire several years ago, they were nice, think the rebuilding phase of marina building starting ??? But the location was great for walking to town, close to restaurants, grocery story, LCBO, and nice downtown area. Very easy access entering the marina, but as always pay close attention to the rocks marked on the chart in the vicinity

Excellent facility and location, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

Loved this stop, strong docks, great facility, plenty of space, friendly helpful service, walking distance to downtown, huge park area to walk dogs, clean clear water.

Water depth, 2015-07-30
Captain: , New Bern, NC (140)

We and some other loopers were assigned to docks requiring passing near the bulkhead...We were assured the water was 5 1/2 to 6 feet deep...We all dug furrows in the silt and grass...Had to use power to avoid a total stoppage...Otherwise, marina was nice and in a good location...One other point - when three of us spoke with the manager, she sort of put us off. She relied on her dockmaster for the depths and said if we had any problems, she would just refer them to her insurance...Pretty cold...

great stop, 2015-07-23
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

the dock personael are terrific and competent. Only issue was the closet size of the showeres but offset by the cross the street location of LCBO. Laundry close, coffe shops close, and the OPP Museum well worth the trip.

A gem of a stop, 2015-07-21
Captain: , Haiku, HI (251)

If we weren't on a sked we'd have spent several days here. Underused facility, ideal location, lots of access to town, shopping, activities, and so forth. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Great Stop on TSW, 2015-07-19
Captain: , Fort Monroe, VA (802)

Stopped after crossing Lake Simcoe. Marina has great neweer docks and power (30 or 50A) was good. Plenty of depth in the entrance and at the docks (9'). The marina is off the channel a mile or so and nyou need to pay attention the the bouys leaving the channel. Their main uiding burned down this past winter, so they have tempoorary heads/showers which were clean and well maintained. Marina location is adjacent to downtown. Take a short walk up the hill and many opportunities for eating/shopping. Staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Only four stars as no fuel.

Great Place & Lots to Do, 2014-08-18
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

We stayed here in mid-August on a weekend during a poor weather window. The marina had lots of space due to weather. The docks are new, the staff is excellent and the local boaters said that this is the place to stay because the city has activities every weekend. The downtown is right off the dock with plenty to see and do. Also, the grocery store is very, very close.

New Favorite Stop on the TSW, 2014-07-31
Captain: , Heber Springs, AR (146)

In past years I had never bothered to stop in Orillia. This year after an uncomfortable crossing of Lake Simco I was looking for a protected place to stop. What a great find it turned out to be.

Very helpful and caring staff. Nice washroom facilities for boaters. I loved the town. Vibrant downtown with lots of places to eat. Groceries and laundromat within easy walking distance.

Great Stop Don't Miss It, 2014-07-27
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We were there from 7-12-14 to 7-21-14. Awaiting some Parts
from West Marine, Barrie, Ont. They put us on a nice T-Head
to tie alongside. We enjoyed the 37th Annual Scottish Festival and all the Bag Pipe Bands, Parade etc. Good WI-FI, Staff very pleasant and helpful, just ask if you needed anything. Plenty of Nice Rest Room Facilities, with security code for boaters only. They were clean and well maintained. Security Gate to Docks locked at night. We visited their Brand New to die for Library. Good restaurants, market for Provisioning all just a short walk from the Port. Plenty of dockage available and new Floating docks. Met a lot of Great Loop Boats and MTOA Members there. This definitely a Do Not Miss Stop. Great Park right at the Port/Marina and a short walk to a Sandy Beach next door. Lots of Grass in the Harbor & slips but they have a great Machine harvesting it to 5 ft below the water. The Port of Orilla is run by the Chamber of Commerce and therefore called a Port not a Marina thus No Pump Out. Capt Helen & Chief Engr Bob Onboard M/Y ALLEZ!

Excellent marina, 2014-07-21
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1156)

Great marina with new looking docks right next to a park. Easy to reprovision. Several restaurants close by. Plenty of walking/bike trails.

Four star, even without some ammenities, 2014-07-14
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Welcoming staff, new docks, close to town with provisioning, shopping, restaurants. Very clean and roomy restroom/shower and several of them. City provided nice welcome to Orillia package. Marina may not have fuel or pumpout, but it is a great place to provision before continuiing in either direction of the Trent Severn Waterway.

Excellent stop, 2014-06-15
Captain: , Naples, FL (1096)

Great wifi. Beautiful clean restrooms/showers for boaters. The best grocery store on TS within two blocks. Orillia Bakery within walking distance. Try the chip stand next to it. Only downside is the expensive laundromat two blocks from marina. 25 cents per 2 min. drying in large dryers, 3 min in small dryers. Better to do laundry in Fenelon Falls at Solar powered laundromat.

Nice marina, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Sturgeon Bay, WI (287)

Stopped in Orilllia on our Trent Severn trip. Very nice town. Several very quaint ships and restaurants. Very weedy in late August, but deep enough for our 4 foot draft.

The WIFI must have been fixed because it worked very well for us and we were on one of the T docks.

Port of Orillia, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Traverse City Michigan (174)

Port of Orillia: First class marina: All a cruiser could hope for. Shopping and Resturants within easy walking distance (we recommed Cosmos Italian which gets 4 stars). Great dock crews, excellent security after dark on the docks, ver good maintenance of facilities, and a good ice cream place close by (bring lots of $$$?

good reprovisioning, 2013-07-03
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

nice new docks. If over 4o feet ask for T head. 50 amp power. clean heads though good walk. knowledgeable dockhands. quiet during week. Park adjacent so good for dogs. A few decent restaurants. Shopping nearby for food, Rx.

One of the Best on the Trent, 2013-06-20
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

The marina here at Orillia is one of the best on the Trent with it's new docks and accessibility to just about any kind of store you would need. The Orillia Transit is available for bus service to the two malls outside of town.

Many restaurants on the main street downtown. We love it here and stop for at least 3 days each time we pass by!

Outstanding marina, 2013-06-17
Captain: , Pultneyville, NY (852)

A new marina along an outstanding waterfront park. Docks and infrastructure are in great shape. Marina staff are friendly and knowledgable about local restaurants and stores. A great place to spend a few days relaxing.

Nice place if you need a night out!, 2012-08-29
Captain: , Bear DE (694)

Great place to stay if you need to do some shopping or like to go out for Dinner. Friendly staff at the Marina.

Top Notch Marina, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (456)

$3 million of new floating docks and excellent support facilities make this a very good value. Two blocks to a large well-stocked grocery, numerous restaurants near by, and spotless commodious showers. If you need/want a place to chill after/before Lake Simcoe, this is the place to go. Wifi repeaters have been deployed to the far docks. Worked very well.

Reprovision place, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1520)

They will actually let you tie up free for several hours to reprovision as long as no hookups are used. Great place to do so. Also a bit of a walk but a fabulous farmers market on Saturdays untill noon at the top of the hill.

New New Docks, 2012-07-15
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Very nice docks made of trex. Good rest rooms and showers. Metro grocery store nearby. Numerous restaurants and a liquor store nearby. We were there for a festival weekend and it was very noisy. Marina is well protected.

weed growth problem, 2012-06-19
Captain: , Houston, Texas (24)

The weed growth is a problem. some slips are just covered. Had to move to another slip due to cloging of strainers. Other than this, it is a very good marina. Don't miss it

Orillia --watch for muskrats, 2011-08-03
Captain: , Lighthouse Pt, Florida (90)

Port of Orillia marina is great. But, we had muskrats get into our exhaust ports. Be careful here. We ended up stuffing the exhaust ports with lifejackets to keep them out. Weekends are loud but very quiet during the week. We got 3 nights for the price of two, July 27, 2011

nice location, 2011-07-29
Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

lots to do most everything you need is located here, but laundry is a hike into town if you have alot to do.

Still Convenient and Great Value!, 2011-07-12
Captain: , Whitby UK (111)

Great location, immaculate showers - friendly staff! 3 night for 2 still on offer + various vouchers for discount on the hight street! Good restuarants and excellent cafes!
Recommend for excursions to Toronto and/or Niagara!

Big Marina, 2011-07-09
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

Well-built floating docks, helpful dockfolks, convenient to services, WiFi, great prices on dockage. Laundramat is 4 blocks away, party atmosphere can get loud on weekends, public can walk docks.

Chamber of Commerce operation, 2010-07-23
Captain: , Chattanooga (327)

Good rate with the 3 for 2 package, close for provisioning and a great walk along the lake. Most dock help we have had in a while. Really good showers. You can tell the Chamber runs it. All transient and a plesant party atmosphere prevailed. Quite a few dock walkers as it is right in the middle of things, which we like

Great Marina, great location, 2009-08-03
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

Pay for 2 days dockage, get the third day free, and that's what we did. Nicest town I have seen on the system. Has it all, great spot to reprovisioin, or charge your batteries, Wifi was not the greatest , but did work.

Orillia, 2009-07-01
Captain: , Howard Prairie (500)

We were here for Canada Day front row seats for the sing along and fireworks. The marina is nice, easy walk into town. No fuel or pump out

Orillia City Marina, 2009-06-30
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

Met by dockhands. Nice docks but a fair amount of underwater growth within some slip areas. Needed extra hose for water. Clean restrooms (public) for free. Showers and boater restroom require a NON REFUNDABLE $2.00 key fee. Wireless internet available at dock on boat.
Close to downtown, gocery, LCBO and all services available.
Special Promo stay 3 nights for the price of 2.

Orillia marina, 2009-03-01
Captain: , Whitby (1653)

This marina is owned and operated by the municipality. Facilities are storng, clean, well maintained. A local bylaw prohibits BBQing while docked.

Orillia City marina, 2008-06-13
Captain: , Patterson, La (1441)

Location is great. Rt in town. Catholic, Anglican and Baptist churches within several blocks.
Banks and lots of local businesses near. Beautiful old buildings in business district that is adjacent to marina.
City bus service. Water is good.
