Reviews for Port of Kelsey Bay
Kelsey Bay Docks, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Kirkland, WA (4478)

This small but quaint port facility has limited transient space available on clean well kept wood floating docks. This place is lively with local activity and the docks are a welcome stop while transiting Johnstone Strait. A small gift shop is located at the wharf and a newly opened Cafe brings a good amount of local activity to the area. Watch for current at the entrance to the marina. Also note that the marina is limited to vessels under 65 feet.

A Gem When In Need, 2015-08-30
Captain: , Tacoma, WA (205)

This very informal marina is situated between Fanny Island and Race Passage, two of the most challenging sections of Johnstone Strait when conditions are bad. It is well protected from the waters of the Strait rushing by, but be sure to get inside behind the breakwater. The marina is mostly occupied by a few fishing boats and some permanent moorage, but good moorage space is available. Not much movement of boats in the marina. The marina is not attended, kind of self serve and payment (very affordable) is made in a drop box. There is 30 amp power and water on the docks. A fishing pier with gift shop and seasonal snacks as well as a small campground are very close. There is also a small village (Sayward) about a mile or so walk with minor provisions (groceries and liquor) but with sporadic hours. Kelsey Bay is a gem of a stop if transiting Johnstone Strait and waiting for the right current to deal with Race or Current Passages or if having done so late in the day and looking for a place to overnight.
