Reviews for Port d'Arcachon
Eight Miles from the Bay, 2016-08-09
Captain: , Jaluit (622)

Frightening shoals 2 miles out of the mouth of the Basin. Plenty of water once you are in the basin. As of this writing, Navionics charts has the entry channel a half mile?? to the north of its location. AIS saved the day. I watched boats going across mud flats and took the same course. The marina is a too far from the bay to be a sensible in transit stop. That may be why there seemed to be very few visiting boats. The town is a 40 minute walk and the Capitainerie could be a 15-20 minute walk depending on location. Lastly, it is Riviera prices with not much to justify the cost. Our 15.8m boat was %u20AC93.40 a night. On the plus side it is very well protected. We went there so that we could take the train and visit Bordeaux.
