Reviews for Port Townsend Boat Haven
Large working busy harbor , 2017-06-11
Captain: , Portland, OR (250)

This is a busy place probably due to the R2AK race. Initial slip assigned was to narrow for us to fit due to a hefty sailboat in the same slip. Very helpful and quick in getting us a different slip. Nice town but a pretty good walk up and down some hills.

Great Stop, 2017-05-28
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (941)

Interesting working harbor and Marina. The office and fuel staff are friendly and helpful, even though they didn't know that the washing machines were gone! Found out later they were out for repair. Restrooms are heavily used, but maintained reasonably well. Plan on spending a day at Fort Worden and Northwest Maritime Center. The views are most fantastic!! I have never seen so many wood boats in one harbor.

Not a good lunch stop, 2016-08-06
Captain: , Gig Harbor, WA (22)

We were on our way south after a week in the San Juans. We pulled in after crossing the Strait to get some (expensive) fuel and planned to grab lunch before continuing on. The fuel dock attendant (who was really nice and made some good food recommendations) said we could pull forward and tie up near the launch ramp while we grabbed food, we just needed to check in at the marina office. As requested I checked in at the office and the guy I spoke with acted like I'd just created the biggest inconvenience in the world for him, grunting and shaking his head while telling me "that just won't work on a busy weekend like this". There was only one other boat on the dock. He angrily started flipping through his binder and said he'd have to move me to a slip if we were going to take an hour to get lunch. We had already moved once from the fuel dock and with a 2yo and 4yo we had no interest in moving again. So we bagged it and ate PB&J on the dock before pulling out and continuing on. I'll make a point of taking my patronage elsewhere in the future when possible.

Nice Marina, 2015-02-10
Captain: , Shilshole Marina (90)

Nice marina with a West Marine store right across the street. Fuel and pump out available and you can typically find moorage if a large event is not going on. Just a 20 to 30 minute walk to downtown.

Nice pit stop, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Tracys Landing, Maryland (350)

Got one of the last transient slips on the linear dock. Nice concrete dock, and grocery store just across the street. Quiet spot to duck in out of the wind. Great working yard that appears to be able to accomodate boats of any size.

New docks at Port Townsend, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Swantown Marina, Olympia, Wa (180)

It has been a year now since my last vist to Boat Haven. Although the majority of the docks are old and in well used condition, new floating wood docks are being installed with new power and water connections from the yacht club south. Recently stayed on "B" docks which were just a year old and what an improvement! "C" docks had not been replaced as of 8/13.
Port Townsend is a working Marina so dont expect to see a nice boardwalk or grassy knoll to walk the dog on. Green grass is hard to find. The yards where boat work is done create significant dust so expect to see dust inside and outside your boat reguardless of your location in Boat Haven Marina.

Very protected, clean facilities, 2012-09-10
Captain: , Port Orchard, WA (31)

A more "official" registration than many facilities. Have your boat reg or doc numbers when you go to the office.

West Marine within a couple of blocks. Town is not too far a walk for most folks. Lots of fun shops that cater to most tastes.

Clean, Friendly and well maintained, great place., 2012-07-30
Captain: , Port Orchard, WA (322)

Arrived afterhours and checked Message board by office for available slip locations and payment. Very nice facility. Clean showers and facility. Close to shopping and chandelery. Complete boat yard

PT Boat Haven, 2012-04-18
Captain: , Port Townsend, WA (303)

The Boat Haven is a full service facillity with numerous slips, it is becoming increasingly expensive to get a slip and the waiting list is years long...but if you don't mind the wait PT is one of the best places I've ever had the pleasure to tie up.

Love this marina, 2012-03-23
Captain: , Port Orchard WA (261)

This is my place to haul out, love the staff, great place to do work or stop off to islands

East harbor is noisy, full of working fishing boats, 2011-10-14
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1926)

Staff is efficient, but does not help with dock lines. Floating docks are good. We were put in the east harbor with the fishing boats. There is a noisy plant to the east that kept us up much of the night.

The docks are brand new., 2011-10-05
Captain: , Gig Harbor (134)

The new docks are equipped with rubber rub rails along the top edge and the piling rings at the end of the fingers are also equipped with rubber pads. The staff is very acccomodating. The ramps are very long so that even at low tide they are not steep.

As you approach the entrance, stay well out as the water is quite shallow untill you reach the entrance.

Marina Office and ramp availability, 2011-01-30
Captain: , Olalla, WA (342)

Very helpful staff. Well worth the $35/year fee. Can park your rig no time limit and it is in view of marina staff during working hours. Ramp is useable at all but extreme low tides. But even at that, within an hour or two is useable again...

PT Boat Haven, 2011-01-14
Captain: , Fort Myers, Florida, USA (584)

The office is helpful and acomodating, will always find room for me when a storm is predicted, even during the big boat festival.

This is the largest marina in the area, 2010-02-24
Captain: , John Wayne Marina (33)

This marina is situated and located with several well established and quality boat yards handy. They can haul large boats well over 100ft. long. Fabrication, repair, parts, etc. are all available here.
