Reviews for Port Sidney Marina
Amazing marina, 2016-08-22
Captain: , Saanich, BC (50)

Staff always helpful and friendly. Super clean washrooms and showers. The docks are perfect. Well lit and an abundance of beautiful hanging baskets. My favorite stop of all marinas.

reserved, was assined a spot long before we got there. Marina is extremely well kept - staff are nice, but a bit "clinicial" in processing people. That said - they were busy, so we totally understood. Rates are a bit high, but workable if Suidney is truly a destination.

Wow I want to go back, 2016-04-02
Captain: , Willamette (31)

Stayed here for one night in mid March 2016. The docks were very nice and clean, some issues with some of the other boats nearby but nothing unacceptable. Walking into town was very convenient and the wifi they had worked great. The bathrooms were clean and secure.

Customs Dock, 2014-09-20
Captain: , Portland (279)

We called the Canadian Border Services Agency as we crossed into their waters in September 2014. They asked us to put in at Sydney. The marina there is hard to find coming from sea because the inner and outer breakwaters overlap. Keep an eye out for the day shapes. It is a very narrow entrance. Customs dock is just inside the breakwater and clearly marked. The turning basin is not large and the wind comes through the gap. Customs has direct phone line on the pier and we cleared without difficulty and were in and out in about 20 minutes.

Get there before office closing, 2014-09-17
Captain: , Boise, Idaho (122)

Nice marina, but if you arrive after they close you don't get a key back in, so leave at your own risk. We didn't have any problems, as we befriended a couple that had a key and they kindly let us in.

Great Marina, Great Place, 2014-08-15
Captain: , Rocky Point (60)

Stayed there for two nights in August 2014.
Modern, busy marina. Great, friendly staff. Very good docks. Very clean washrooms. Close to downtown Sidney - stay for Thursday Sidney market if possible.
The free internet did not work well or at all. Went into town to use free internet at a coffee shop insted.

Very Nice Marina, 2014-07-04
Captain: , Liberty Bay Washington (400)

Friendly staff met me at the customs dock and was able to get me into a private slip the day before Canada Day. Watched the fireworks from our slip that night. As another reviewer stated, they should have trash pickups througout the marina instead of all the way up near the office.

Fancy and friendly, 2013-08-29
Captain: , Bozeman, MT (740)

Great marina, really friendly and helpful staff. Close to lots of great restaurants, an aquarium, and tons of bookstores. They were able to squeeze me in at last minute in a holiday weekend. Much appreciated! Also very good laundry and shower facilities.

Great location, marina management needs some improvement, 2013-07-06
Captain: , Cruising (3259)

Sidney is a fabulous town and the marina is clean and beautiful. But transients are stuck a long way out on the dock. Trash cans are only located near the office so you have to lug your trash a long way.
The marina has a system that automatically assigns a slip when you make a reservation. Don't try to have more than one reservation at a time - that confuses things badly. But if you change your plans in any way, you will likely have to move slips simply because the system may have assigned your slip to someone else, even if the rest of the dock is empty. They need a real dockmaster who can manage slip assignments more sensibly than an automated system. We watched a lot of silly slip shifting all week.
The office staff are very friendly, and they were very helpful receiving mail and packages for us.

First Class, 2012-08-19
Captain: , des moines (104)

Super nice marina, priced accordingly (almost $2/ft per day with power and taxes) Thursday night street market was pretty good but get there early on because it starts shutting down by 8.

I would go again and clear customs here and provision up for the trip because stores are all an easy walk to the marina and had some of the best groceries at reasonable prices that we saw in the general area.

Interesting Town, 2012-06-25
Captain: , Port Angeles, WA (110)

This is a good first stop for customs clearance and supplies coming up from the Olympic Peninsuala. There are many bookstores to explore, some catering to specific genres.

Port Sidney Marina, 2012-06-20
Captain: , Seattle (385)

This is a well maintained facility with very good amenities including flowers hanging from all of the pilings. The power, water, laundry, heads, and a laounge area are very nice. Sidney has good shopping, and restaurants. Most of the slips are occupied by resident boats. Getting transient moorage here can be difficult during some parts of the season.

Excellent Facility, 2011-09-23
Captain: , Sidney, BC, Canada (235)

Port Sidney has great ammenities and is kept impecably clean. Right in the heart of downtown Sidney I think it can't be beat.

Convenient provisioning stop, 2011-08-16
Captain: , Seattle (690)

We waited quite a long time to clear customs, and there was some interesting jockying by the line of boats waiting to get to the customs dock. Convenient to stores and there is a great new aquarium right next to the marina. They have a pumpout facility, but not located in a very accessible place and no rinse. They were not eager to have us use it - suggested that we go to Van Isle.... no, thank you.

Port of Sidney Marina, 2011-05-26
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (282)

Port of Sidney is a regular stop for us at the start or end of a longer cruise. Friendly, capable staff. Nice facilities well maintained. The town of Sidney is attractive and easily accessable from the marina. Several new and used bookstores, great bakery and many good restaurants if the crew needs a night ashore. We enjoy Sidney!

Home Port for us, 2011-03-30
Captain: , Sidney BC (582)

This is where we keep our boat and where we start our sailing adventures from. Failrly upscale with clean facilities and lots of berths. Have seen lots of people make mistakes and try to enter from the north. This is a no no as it is very shallow, have seen a few 50 foot sailboats go aground here on a falling tide (ouch). Well maintained and stable docks generally. Shopping is about as good as it gets from here. Fish on fifth is as good as J. Clampett+ says it is.

Pretty and Plentiful, 2011-02-06
Captain: , Bloomington, IN (70)

Hundreds of hanging flower pots adorn this friendly and pretty marina. A wonderful provisioning stop with a grocery, a great bakery, a good liquor store, and great bookstores all within a very short walk. The New York Times was available. Free concerts on Sunday afternoons on the lawn by the marina. Good restaurants with views.

Awesome town, 2011-01-30
Captain: , Olalla, WA (342)

Great place to visit for at least a weekend. Lots of in town shopping and grocery within easy walking distance to the marina. Food is great in all the restuarants. People are very friendly and helpful.

Great family stop, 2011-01-06
Captain: , Friday Harbor, WA (490)

On Thursdays in the summer there is a street market on the main street, about 3 block from the marina. Starts at 5pm I think

Fish on Fith street is a must try. 400yds from marina., 2010-05-31

Friendly Customs and staff, 2009-07-14
Captain: , Cowiche, WA (350)

We checked in at customs on 7-3-09 and it was the friendliest exchange we had encountered with customs anywhere. IT was conducted by phone and they were very helpful. The staff at the marina were also helpful and friendly. A nice place to visit. We stayed a couplpe of hours in guest moorage and ate lunch and shopped. Busy town!

Port Sidney Marina, 2009-07-01
Captain: , Port Ludlow WA (75)

One of the best marinas we have stayed at. We called 24 hrs.ahead for reservations just to be assured of a slip; very cordial and efficient. Entrance is somewhat tricky but charted well. You don't see the actual entrance until you are very close as it is narrow and perception is deceptive. No problems once you know where to go. We enjoyed the walk into town but were disappointed with the bakery that was mentioned in Wagoner's.

Great marina, 2007-05-21
Captain: , Seattle, WA (437)

Very friendly, though recommend calling in advance for slip resevation. Best part is being able to walk to "downtown" and the bookstores.

Port of Sidney Marina, 2007-02-23
Captain: , Anacortes, Wa (115)

Oneof the best marinas on the west coast. Great facilities with great personnel.

Has a Canadian Customs facility which is open all year. It is manned in the summer but just a phone box during the winter season.

Marina is animal friendly. Has internet capability.

Be careful on the power connections on the end of G dock. There are four slips with 220 volt only.

Port Sidney, 2007-02-17
Captain: , DH, WA (1714)

A first class marina; perhaps the best in the area. Excellent protection from all weather. Clean, well-run and with first rate access to the Sidney with it's small town accessability. To say nothing of more than its share of book stores.
