Reviews for Port Charles Harbor
Not too close to St. Charles, 2016-08-06
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (496)

We loved the marina and the staff was exceptional. There is a misconception that this marina is close to St. Charles. It is not. But, the marina has a very nice minivan which will get you the 10 miles into the historic district of St. Charles and you can see it that way.

great marina, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Chattanooga tn (281)

Can't say enough about the staff. Came in with 1engine not running able to fix problem at very reasonable price. Mechanics top notch and certified. Still working and when Internet was having an issue gave us the boater lounge for a week. If stay a week cost 59 cents a foot. Courtesy car is a plus and easily available. Highly recommended to anyone in the area

Top flight Marina with excellent service techs, 2014-09-29
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Port Charles has much to offer a transient, but most of all a dedication to service. I've never been to a more service oriented Marina with such hard working staff. They are very busy for a reason as boaters from the Illinois River and up the Miss travel days to have service done here. Back again on 09-26-14 and still enjoy their service oriented attitude and expert service department. This is the go to marina for hundreds of miles on these rivers. Honest, reliable and competent. It doesn't get better.

Friendy Service; Clean facilties, 2014-09-10
Captain: , Wickford, RI (550)

We stopped to trouble shoot a percieved issue with an engine. Paul and a second mechanic met us at the dock and had obvioously done some homework on our particular model. They spent two hours on the river performing various tests and since they determineed there was no issue to fix would not charge us!
Very protected harbor; very clean facilties; most helpful staff. When the WiFi didn't work at first I was given an office with an ethernet connection - they had the WiFi back up in a few hours and it worked fine the reminder of our stay. The courtesy car is great; St. Charles has an interesting Main St. with many shops and restaurants and any thing you wnat is an easy drive. No food or shops on site but the more than makes-up for that.

Great Place to Stay, 2012-11-03
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1787)

We are St. Louisans, loopers, started our loop in FL so we are kinda passing through our hometown (?). Have been here since mid-september. Selected this marina at the reccomendation of the AGLCA harbor hosts David and Joanne Berg (Awesome!). Transients slips seem a little tight but they have enough facing dock type spaces.
Marina is located in St. Charles County, a highly developed suburb of St. Louis. Everything you possibly could need is within an easy drive with the courtesy car - having a land gps chartplotter would be helpful.
West Marina is in the city of St. Charles. It is small but the staff is great. (I sent an email to West Marine HQ saying they should clone Dwayne.)
Port Charles staff is second to none. Awesome. Helpful. Friendly. Knowledgeable. 40 ton travel lift. Full service boat yard. Paul, the owner, lives aboard in the marina, I think. Reciprocal with Duck Club next door - very good restaurant and bar. Marina is well protected.
Fyi - AB Signs is oncall for any transom repainting. They redid our transom while we were there.
Gas, diesel, pump out.

Great facility, great people., 2012-09-26
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

All the previous reviews are accurate. We stayed at a floating dock that was like brand new with electic that was like brand new facility was terriffic amd staff was also. Had four people to help us tie up. Loaner vehicle to go to town was a good one. Every store you would need is accessable with a vehicle.

Unmatched accomodation, 2012-09-17
Captain: , Kelso, Wa. (834)

We have enjoyed this marina more than any other in quite a while. The staff is genuinely friendly, helpfull, unobtrusive and can't seem to be able to say no. When the Chain of Rocks dam closed, they came down to let us know. Nex time you're in the neighborhood, you owe it to yourself to stop in and stay a while.

Best $1/ft Marina YET !, 2012-09-09
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

How can you beat this place? $1/ft transient rate, WiFi, Water, electric, nice floating docks, laundry, AND a FREE convenience car (Chrysler Town and Country van)!! VERY nice people that run this place, and a bonus - CHEAP diesel fuel !!! Cheapest I could find all the way down the Illinois River and much of the Mississippi.
Went to St Louis to the top of the Arch, then Ted Drewes ice cream for lunch, Walmart and Schnucks for groceries. Town of St Charles is quaint. Sat mornings there is a small farmers market.

The service is unmatched, 2011-10-24
Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

We pulled in there and were met at the dock by a very nice young lady. Went to the office and were handed a very complete transient package with all the important and relevant information. The owner tossed us the keys to the courtesy car, said it was just washed and fueled and said, have a good time. We stayed three days and visited St. Charles - a wonderful town with lots to see and do. Took the car to St. Louis and had a greaat time. This is one of the best marinas we have ever visited and they have my deepest thanks and respect for a job well done.

Nice people, 2011-06-02
Captain: , Stillwater, MN (287)

Nice place to stay for a few days. Loner car waiting for us when we pulled in at 8:30 PM. Diesel at $3.73.9 a gallon.

nice marina, 2009-09-14
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

HUMMM, 2009-09-12
Captain: , fairland (2653)

Well, the laundry is no longer free (it is only a buck), the WiFi doesn't work (you can tie into their T1 in the office) and the electricity at the transient dock was fooked (this will be fixed). Very narrow and skinny appraoch channel. Nothing, I mean nothing within walking distance. It is a working boatyard and I believe they can do about anything. Great staff, courtesy car, cheap fuel and relatively clean restrooms. For a buck a foot, not bad. Grafton or Alton are better choices if you just want a night off the river.

Nice Quiet Place, 2008-09-13
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

Gas, Diesel and Missouri prices, huge haul out, boat ramp, some transient moorage but call first. Showers, laundry, and courtesy van to St. Charles. Limited boat store. On-site mechanics. Very nice staff!
