Reviews for Point Judith Marina
Awesome Stay @ PJM, 2017-08-07
Captain: , New Bedford, MA (40)

Awesome stay at Point Judith Marina July 31- Aug 6, 2017. The marina manger Ann was great and all the girls on the staff/gas dock were friendly and accommodating. The pool was an awesome perk. We swam every afternoon. There are updated, clean restrooms. The gas grill area is overhead covered with picnic tables. We took advantage of grilling in out in the great weather. There is a fish cleaning station as well. There is gas and diesel here as well as a pump-out station You definitely want to stay in the channel here as it can shallow up quickly. Even out exploring in the dinghy it can get shallow. We took the dinghy up the Jerusalem side and explored coves and small beaches. The Galilee side is mostly commercial boats, the Block Island Ferry and a few restaurants, shanty shack food, fish markets and ice-cream. There is no dinghy tie up on the Galilee side. Ann said they are working on it.We did want to explore the Galilee side so Ann recommended Tim from Bluebird for a car ride over. He was a pleasure. Picked us up right at the marina, (Note- cash only), he gave us some history of the area on the way over. When we were ready to come back he was there within ten minutes and took us back to the marina. Great guy.The Matunuck Oyster Bar is in walking distance to the marina and highly recommended by several marina boaters but we did not get over there. I looked it up on Trip Advisor. It receives high reviews and is a farm to table restaurant including the oysters. I guess this will be a reason to come back and stay at Point Judith Marina next year!

Great full service marina, 2016-08-26
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Would be 5 stars if there was a close supermarket and/or they offer a courtesy vehicle. They are very busy with very limited transient space so make sure to call ahead. I came in to have a leaking front seal replaced on my port Yanmar 4jh4e engine. Bud did an excellent job in half the estimated time and that is all I was billed for. All facilities and personnel are praiseworthy. There is a very strong 3-4 knot current at peak ebb or flood through here so plan accordingly as the fairways are 90 degrees (on the beam) to the current. Slip inline with current.

Decent Stopover, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Providence (443)

If you have a reservation don't bother trying to hail or phone after 5pm -- nobody will answer. Just pull up to the fuel dock and ask the attendant.

Short Stay, 2016-07-20
Captain: , Portland, ME (240)

This is a busy harbor with lots of pleasure boat traffic. Couple of thin spots in the inner harbor, but if you stick to the marked channel they are not a problem. The docks are also busy as slip owners use their boats for evening gatherings - could see this could become a problem on weekends but was not an issue for us.

Nice snack bar for breakfast/lunch; picnic tables overlooking the water. Reports of fine dining only a 20 minute walk away; but we did not make the hike. Ann was extremely helpful throughout the stay. Pool was a nice treat after spending the previous day in dense fog. Bathrooms and showers clean with laundry.

If staying awhile, put the dinghy in the water, and enjoy the nearby beach areas. Its 95% stren first into the slip, could not get our dinghy into the water and did not want to move to do so; next visit - something to look forward to.

Great service for and emergency stop, 2016-06-01
Captain: , Essex (50)

Was coming out of Newport harbor in 3-4 footers when my D4 Volvo's went into "safe" mode basically limiting me to 1400 rpm and 6-8 knots. Used Active Captain to find the number for PJM and despite being a Saturday, they directed me to the dock and connected me to Tim in the Service Department, let me know there was a volvo tech available and within an hour Gary came out and got to work. Long story short, they pulled us out of a jam, found a slip for us, got right on the service and were great people to deal with. Thanks again for the help.

Best price on Fuel, 2015-09-15
Captain: , Port Everglades (595)

They always have the best price on fuel with a 5 cent discount for cash and additional 5 cents for Boat US. (net $2.20 on 9/12/15)
Pleasant staff, nice fendered T head fuel dock, free potable water, trash dumpster.

A Big Thank You to Anne, Don and Tim, 2015-09-10
Captain: , Hingham, MA (317)

We came through the Cape Cod Canal on an ebb tide with a huge tug and barge keeping a 13.5 knot chase. That's when the port engine decided to shut down. The generator decided to keep it company while we were visiting Jamestown. Fortunately, Point Judith Marina is a Cummins certified service center. Anne was accomodating on short notice, finding a place for us on her well maintained docks. Don and his team, including Tim Green, went to work on our boat, diagnosed the problem and sourced a Mase generator repair. When I came to pick her up, Tim printed pictures of the repairs, gave me a detailed invoice, and even printed a sticker with the genset's serial number for me to put on the case for future reference. Valuable services at a fair price. The marina is well run and clean, with a sparkling pool and very nice vibe. Point Judith Pond is a terrific place to hang out, with warm, shallow water and shelter from the rough waters of Rhode Island Sound. After three days of being on the hook off Jamestown, it was a relief to stay somewhere calm. This was our second visit and it won't be our last!

Came back again 8/14-16/2015 and had a terrific stay. Bathrooms were clean and cold - well air conditioned - pool was welcoming. Our guests enjoyed the mini-aquarium effects of the fishing boats with underwater lights. Fuel dock is clean and price very reasonable - $2.55 a gallon for diesel. A bonus was our discovery of Jim's Dock, a funky, byob, dinghy accessible, open for breakfast through dinner restaurant on the water restaurant off Succotash road. We also enjoyed cruising around Potter Pond in the dinghy and swimming out by the point of refuge.

Came through one more time for labor day. Diesel at $2.30. I'm lovin' it!

Best stop for fuelgoing into Newport, 2015-09-03
Captain: , Lewes, DE (514)

We stopped in for fuel on our way from Block Island to Newport. Minimal out of the way but the fuel over $1 less than in Newport. Currents can run 2-3 kts but fuel dock is large and easy to get into. Staff was very helpful and courteous.

Great Fuel Prices, 2015-07-22
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (253)

Topped off the boat before heading back to Long Island. Best price in the area. They even let us tie up for a few hours to walk to a seafood restaurant that they told us about. Follow the markers once you get to the inner harbor - skinny water lies outside.

You can't beat the service. Thanks Anne and Don, 2015-07-21
Captain: , Montrose, NY (60)

Alwways stop when in the area. Had an electronics issue and these folks came through. Great marina and the other boaters on the docks are friendly. Fuel prices are good too. 5c off for Boat US and 5c off for cash, 2.69gal as of 7/18/15

Our Preferred Fuel Dock when in New England, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Newport, RI (265)

We stop here on our trip north and south to get fuel and any maintenance supplies we may need. Great dock hands, reasonable prices and well stocked ship's store. Free pump out when you take on more than 20 gallons. We accidentily left our boat hook here one time and three weeks later on our way south they still had it in their office waiting for us - very kewl!

Friendly staff but isolated, 2012-08-17
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1144)

We stopped here to get some electrical work done and we were originally planning to take one of our 3 days and go to Block Island on the high speed ferry which was located on the other side of the harbor. Unfortunately there is no way to get off the marina property and over to the other side and back, as an earlier reviewer intimated. The taxi services would not come to the marina ("too many medical runs for locals") and I couldn't even get an airport limo service to come! The marina folks gratiously offered to take us over by boat but couldn't pick us up. There is no nearby town. The marina is very well maintained, bathrooms and showers clean. Numerous gas grills under a hut. Friendly staff. We left early, however, because we would just be sitting around waiting until the yard could get to our electrical issue. Another couple that we spoke to while grilling had same experience. So if you are looking for a relatively easy in and out stop but nothing to do around it or to get to then you might consider this location.

Exellent Staff and Great Facility, 2011-12-13
Captain: , Austin (20)

Pulled into Point Judith to have some minor repairs done and found the facility to be clean, the mechanics experienced and service center to be be professional, well staffed, and very helpful. They bent over backwards to get me fixed up and on my way. Dont forget to have lunch or dinner at matunuck oyster bar about a 15 minute walk from the marina.

Good fuel stop, friendly , 2011-05-19
Captain: , Miami, fl (3666)

I ve stopped there a few times for fuel, good price, easy access, friendly staff

Fuel Prices are usually cheaper than Newport docks and if a little higher than the fuel barge it s a lot more convenient

Good Spot for One night or more, 2010-10-16
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

We enjoyed our stay here. Quite protected, nice piersand facilities. Decent price for the area.

Point Judith and Bellevue are the same marina now..., 2010-08-15
Captain: , point judith, ri (40)

They merged a couple of years back, so you get the combination of all the services. This is my home port marina and I enjoy it trmendously. Everyone is great.

The only complaint I have with the location is it's a 30 minute drive to get to the commercial docks, which are only 5 minutes by boat. The ferry comes in there, so if anyone visits it's a pain to get between the two sides without moving your boat. Oh well, there could worse things I guess.....

Haven inside the Harbor of Refuge, 2010-05-23
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (1342)

Point Judith Marina is about the cleanest and best run marina I have encountered. The management is engaged and sets a tremendous example for staff. Senior staff make training newer employees a priority. As a result transients feel welcome and cared for.

Can't say enough good!, 2009-01-14
Captain: , Chesapeake City, MD (40)

We were towed into Point Judith after an electrical fire aboard. ALL of the people there were just wonderful! From Don, the manager, to John the parts man and the two mechanics who worked on our boat all winter.. There's just not enough good to say about them, they re wired the whole boat and didn't skimp anywhere, especially in the cleaning and repainting in the engine room. In the years since, I have never found any soot or had any problem with the work they did. They worked closely with our insurance company, and made the whole experience a pleasure despite the reason we were there. And, yes! The place is immaculate!

Foggy night, great place, 2008-08-25
Captain: , taunton, ma (20)

On short notice I had to pull into Point Judith when a very thick fog rolled in. The dock master was great at helping me get a slip. Gave great directions to a restaurant, and treated me great. The club house has very nice amenities and the people are very friendly. Best of all is the gas dock, not only is the price of gas the best around, the service is fast, a pump out and ice is available right there at the gas dock, dock hands are always ready to help you with a line and the dock hands are very cute! : )
