Reviews for Point Cadet Marina
great harbor masters, 2017-07-26
Captain: , Slidell, LA (71)

We stayed 3 nights over the 4th of July. Enjoyed every minute. Very protected and a great fireworks show by the City of Biloxi. We'll be back.
$1.00/ft per night + tax including elect.
Several good restaurants in the casino and more available with the trolley.

Convenient, but poorly run, 2017-07-09
Captain: , United States (3192)

We made a reservation here to shelter from oncoming Tropical Storm Cindy. We were asked to call on the phone 20 minutes before arrival, which we attempted to do. And continued to do for over an hour. No answer on telephone or VHF. With no slip assignment and no entry directions, we ended up dropping the hook off-channel to the west until we could reach someone.

Once we got through we got conflicting dock assignments from two different people. We arrived at the dock but already missed our calm window to back into the slip, which now took another several minutes and multiple tries. The lone employee seemed completely unknowledgable about the marina -- depths, prevailing conditions, etc.. He did not even know the WiFi password.

We did fine in the storm, but the marina power turns off at high water and we were without power (and Internet) for the better part of two days. We ran our generator (and used our cellular data) instead. I asked for a credit for this but the marina seems to think that they have no responsibility to provide power during these conditions and can continue to collect the full amount for transient slips.

About the only thing this place has going for it is that it is a short walk to the Golden Nugget and Margaritaville, and a city bus will take you from there most of the way around town.

The convenience store in the Golden Nugget is open 24/7 and has milk, beer, soda, snacks, and sundries, albeit all at a heavy premium. You can purchase a day pass for the H2O pool area for $20 or the spa/gym/hotel pool for $25. Happy hour at Michael Patricks is the best restaurant deal on premise and they have good drafts. Nothing at Margaritaville is worth the extra walk, IMO.

Very Unfriendly Staff, 2017-01-27
Captain: , Currently living aboard and cruising the Gulf Coast (260)

The slips were terrible. the finger piers were maybe 15 feet long. We asked about a monthly rate and could only get it if we stayed at least 3 months. When I asked if they give weekly rates they said yes. Just take the daily rate and multiply by seven. It wasnt a joke, it was sarcastic so we left the next morning. There is a good reason this place has a lot of vacancies.

Rate Change, 2016-09-30
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (214)

Beginning October 1st, 2016, our prices are $1.00 per foot for transients. Thank you for your business!

Dockage fees too high, 2016-09-12
Captain: , Mandeville, LA (20)

Point Cadet has recently nearly tripled their transient dockage fees to around $2.75/foot. This seems very much out of line considering the condition of their docks and the prevailing fees in nearby marinas.

Outragous rate increase, 2016-09-12
Captain: , New Orleans (87)

The rate increase for transient dockage is out of line. Like others have commented. 150-200% is insane. We cruise often from Louisiana to Florida and have stopped here in the past at $1.00 per ft. This is not a five star marina and it%u2019s not in the Keys or Miami. I'm not sure what the owners are thinking here. Maybe it%u2019s to keep out the average cruiser or they need to increase revenue from the 1%er%u2019s with deep pockets.
It%u2019s sad to think that most business owners raise prices to increase revenue, when they should be offering competitive pricing, outstanding service and amenities to attract customers. Instead they jack up their prices, cut services and amenities. Then in a few months they go out of business wondering what happened.
Don%u2019t they realize that a little bit of something is something and that all of nothing is still nothing? Well they will be getting all of nothing from us.
Good luck staying in business with revenues from the 1%er%u2019s.

6-21-2016 dockage, 2016-06-27
Captain: , D.Iberville ms (22)

Price went from $1 per foot to $3 per foot since 2015. No one helped with dockage, no internet, no cable tv. You would think for a 300 percent increase in dockage you would get some kind of addional service.

Big Price Hike, 2016-05-06
Captain: , Mandeville, La. (267)

Arrived today for a two-day stopover before heading east. Two dockmasters and two friendly tenants helped with our lines . Good showers. BUT transient fees go up from $1.00/foot to $2.50/ foot on May 19, 2016. That is not a typo! Insane increase! The marina was half-empty, and regular tenants are also being targeted.

great marina short piers, 2016-01-03

Disappointing 2nd visit, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Ocean Spings Mississippi (225)

The floors in the elevator, 2nd floor hallway and baths were pretty filthy. I was here long enough to know this was a chronic condition. Staff resides on the third floor of the harbor masters office and no help is available at dock level. Learn to use the local bus system because very little is close by except casino.

good stop friendly staff, 2015-07-23
Captain: , Port Arthur, Tx (526)

good stop docks are concrete with poles so you need good fender protection stayed through a good storm with no damage, waves breaking over dock for about hour. laundry good and clean, casino next door good food

nice place to stop, 2015-02-09
Captain: , Orange TX (130)

facilities were very clean with 24 hour security. It is right behind the Golden Nugget casino. Once you master the public transportation it is possible to get anywhere you want to go. I cant say enough about how nice the fellow boaters were, offering rides, help, and docktails. We will definitly return.

Clean and friendly, 2015-01-18

We stopped here going to Pensacola fl from New Orleans, clean marina and friendly,

Quick In and Out, 2014-12-24
Captain: , Kemah, TX (622)

Arrived an hour after dark. We were received courteously to the marina. Dock help was an older gentleman who signaled us with a flashlight to show us our slip. Easy in and out, well protected, but the slip itself left a lot to be desired. The cleat on the fingerpier had a sharp metal staub between it and the boat that was of concern if winds had blown up. I was concerned it might damage our dock line. The edge of the finger pier had a loose structural part that could not be touched as it moved. As it is an intregral part of the finger pier, I was concerned it might damage the boat.

The entire dock area is exposed to the parking lot of the casino next door, I was concerned for my wife walking the dogs by herself. Restrooms are locked from 8pm to 6am in the morning.

Several navigation lights are either not working or damaged leading from the ICW all the way around the dogleg box to arrive and depart from the marinas (Not the fault of the marina, but added to the challenge of arriving after dark and departing prior to sunrise).

Great place to stop, 2014-08-02
Captain: , Corpus Christi (301)

This is one of my favorite stops. Biloxi is well suited for arriving by boat. The bus system is functional and even the hub host a Greyhound stop. The staff at Point Cadet are knowledgeable and friendly.

Biloxi Point Cadet Marina, 2014-06-04
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (80)

As with all marinas it is the folks running it that make it what it is. This marina is no exception. There are some great folks here, docked and working. The marina offers nice facilities, and docks with excellent harbor masters. The only tricky part is the fuel and pump out docks are a bit tricky to locate if you are unfamiliar. They are located due north going in the eastern entrance at the head of A pier. Always nice and helpful folks there in the bait and fuel store. Golden Nugget Casino towers over this marina with all the typical casino amenities. If you run into Harbor Master Judd he is a wealth of information, and as nice a person as you would hope to meet.

Great protected marina, outstanding staff, 2014-01-07
Captain: , San Marcos, TX (865)

Stopped here in Dec 2013 to get out of a nasty ride in the MS sound. We called about 20 min out and Dockmaster advised us on the entry and met us to catch lines. Excellent refuge from weather. Short walk to restaurants and casinos.

Great weekend getaway, 2013-10-20
Captain: , Gulfport, MS (80)

Sailied to Point Cadet from Gulfport for the weekend. Spoke to the HarborMaster Friday afternoon to confirm slip. Arrived just after dusk. Harbor Master caught our lines as we docked. Good clean 50amp power. Restrooms/Showers were clean. Very protected harbor with a Northerly wind.

Good stopover marina, 2013-03-13
Captain: , Houston, TX (553)

Friendly dockmaster and quiet marina. We waited here for 4 nights for a good weather window to cross Mobile Bay. It is at the end of town, but only 1 mile from downtown Biloxi and the casino shuttles run a loop through town every few minutes. Good showers and laundry. We took the CTA bus over to Ocean Springs, which was very nice.

Great Place to stay over, 2013-01-15
Captain: , Panama City, Florida (123)

We stayed there this past May, 2012 for two days and two nights and had a good little stay. The harbour master met us upon entering the marina to assist us with tying off. He was very accommodating and found us a more compatible slip because he had us in a huge slip at the middle entrance of the marina. The shuttles run at the Isle of Capri located right at the marina. There is a grassy knoll to the east of the marina just at the foot of the State Road 90 bridge. We actually took our lawn chairs over, sat around and just enjoyed the little Biloxi point bay area. It is a rustic marina, nothing fancy, but we will definately stay there again. We actually walked to Palace Casino (a few blocks north of the marina on Myrtle Street) and ate there one night. it was the best bang for our buck while in Biloxi. I highly recommend this marina.

Good marina for the price, 2013-01-08
Captain: , Louisiana (554)

Transient price is cut in half after 3 days of $1/ft. Dockmaster meets you to help you tie up. Put us in a very good slip with a stiff wind blowing. Docks are not fully protected, so you get some wave action. Would rate a 4-star if better protected. One casino located next door; another within walking distance; shuttle bus can take you to any other casino in town.
Several liveaboards at marina. Shrimp boat fleet on the next dock. Monthly rates available.

Great Location, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (170)

The staff and location of Point Cadet is great! The docks are concrete so you need to be careful going in and out! We were there about 5 days and the tide swing was about 3 ft. making it a little difficult to get on and off the boat, especially since we were bulkhead tied to one of the Tee Heads and couldn't use our boarding ladder.

Good stop off the sound, 2012-06-23
Captain: , Seabrook TX (100)

Nice marina well run by 24 hour helpful personnel. Adjacent to Isle Casino (soon to be Golden Nugget) Point Cafe inside the casino very good. City casin0 shuttle trolly comes by every 20 minutes. 6/20/12

Very protected dock for refueling, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (322)

I bought my boat during TS Lee and refueled here in 20-25 kt S. winds. It is very protected by the fuel dock, I can't think of many more places where I would have even attempted docking in those conditions.

Very friendly to transients boats, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Collierville TN (977)

Protected harbor, alongside ties available, new bathrooms and facilities. Next door to Isle Capri Casino. Trolley ride to other casinos and restaurents. Mary Mahoneys Restaurent is pricy but very very good.

Point Cadet Marina, 2012-01-12
Captain: , Eagle Harbor, WA (471)

Harbor master responded to our first call and met us on the dock to help tie. Very friendly and helpful with directions to nearby resources. Trolley service available to reach restaurants, grocery, museums, and other interest. Fuel dock was very helpful with fueling.

Good Fuel Stop, 2011-09-02
Captain: , Gulf Shores AL (90)

We fueled up here and found the owner Danny and his staff very helpful. They have an extremlely well equipped Tackle store, great prices on T-Shirts and some hardware. We did not stay at the Marina but it has 2 Casinos on site which have Restaurants and Gift shops.

Decent Marina, Poor Service, 2011-04-02
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (293)

Decent marina, concrete on docks needs some attention. Staff definately needs some attention. Tried hailing on VHF 16, no answer. Called on the phone, both numbers, and received no answer on both. Pulled into the single fuel slip and waited 15 mintues before anyone even came out, the dockhand didnt seem to care about customers, just whatever was on his cell phone at the time. I was disappointed.

Much improved, 2011-03-08
Captain: , Thibodaux, Louisiana (190)

Lat time we were here it was recovering from hurricane damage,
it is nicely rebuilt they have people on duty 24 hrs according to the harbormaster. Beware some of the slips are close to the entrances in south winds it can get real bumpy especially if you are on a dock end, We were last night, moved to a slip further in first thing in the morning after a very bumpy night. Not much but Casinos nearby, besides the onsite store there is a Marine store, Southern Sun, about 5 blocks away they deal mainly with comercial shrimpers but have a good stock of all kinds of hardware. The marinas baths and showers are now open but I understand the laundry will stay closed.

Friendly Harbormaster, 2011-02-05
Captain: , Kemah, TX (188)

Pulled in after long day on the Mississippi Sound. Harbormaster saw us coming and helped with the lines. They have re-built the offices and restrooms. Very nice facilities. Casinos are on the premises and a short walk away. Disadvantage is the crew boats coming and going through out the night.

Great Marina Staff, 2010-12-26
Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

Great docks, great protection, not as close to town as advertised, but if you have a bike, it's perfect. The marina staff could not have been better. The harbor master was able to see us coming in from quite a distance and gave us perfect directions. Then, he came down to the dock and caught our lines and made sure we were well tied up and plugged in. He then introduced us to another guy who has travelled this area extensively and who was a wealth of information. There is a very nicely stocked tackle shop/marine store on the premises behind the fuel dock and pump out station. Excellent experience.

point cadet marina, 2010-03-08
Captain: , Lakeside, Montana (442)

concrete docka protected by concrete wall breakwater. We visited late 2008. water only available at slip due to hurricane damage. hard to reach marina personnel in advance. close to casino hotel with good deals on too much food. We enjoyed walking through town and finding varous stores and supply outlets.

Closed for now, 2009-05-02
Captain: , Louisiana (264)

Closed for reconstruction until late '09

Point Cadet, 2007-02-02
Captain: , Patterson, La (1441)

If you want to gamble this is the place as you are immediately BEHIND the casino and to even get to the dockmaster you must walk through the parking garage then in front of the casino and then to the office and other marina services. You pay premium slip fees for this. Before the casino we always stopped here. We now use Ocean Ocean springs just across the inlet.
