Reviews for Plattsburgh Boat Basin
Approach to Boat Basin, 2016-08-27
Captain: , Gulf Harbour Marina Ft. Myers FL (130)

Best to enter from the North as there is a mooring field on the South end of the breakwater.

Greedy owner operator, 2016-08-26
Captain: , Montreal (20)

Prices here are out of range: pumpout at 12$ and Diesel fuel at 4$ à gallon. for pumpout, use next door facilities (Plattsburgh City marina only 5$) As for fuel, VT marinas offer it for 2,59$. Worth the cross over and a nice ride.

Poor docks facilities for visitors, 2015-06-18
Captain: , Vaudreuil-sur-le-lac (145)

We arrive in windy condition at the service dock, fuelled our boat and ask for a mooring place. We paid top dollars for small & cheap docking installations, not protected from the element. We were there not in the prime season time and during the week. I am not impressed, there are better place on the Champlain Lake including anchoring. We give two stars only because one of the Dock Hand came to help us find some way to secure the line to make it more stable.

If you need to mingle with boating enthusiasts, this is the place.

PBB has done good efforts to accommodate visitors. from all walks of life

The Naked Turtle restaurant is quite a busy place as students adopted this place for good times and popular food.

I honestly prever to anchor by the breakwater and dinghy to the Gaz dock where the attendant will direct you to a slip for 5$ for the day.

You may try the restaurant or 10 minutes walk to downtown and have a choice of specialty restaurant.

docks And noise, 2014-08-21
Captain: , Montreal (87)

Docks in poor condition. very noisy (bar And train) Food in restaurant average

Not Impressed .. Thanks for being rude Austin, 2014-08-21
Captain: , Coxsackie (30)

Docks were fine .. Dockmaster needs an attitude adjustment ... You park at gas dock then get a map to your dock space... I dont have a problem with that.. It would have been nice if dock master took the two seconds to tell us wind would lay down coming down main string instead of the snide remark on the radio when questioned about wind going into dock. When asked a question in ship store Austin once again comes out with another rude remark.. Why go to place where you get insulted. I wont go back

Mens room were ok.. Ladies rooms were poor .. my wife enjoyed how the path to bathrooms and showers were not lit up and that during the day boats being worked on right outside window to ladies showers.. kind of creepy.. FYI ...Bathrooms are not cleaned every day evident on both sides by no toilet paper in mens room and no hand soap in ladies room .

Go to Burlington or Mallets Bay

Well what can I say.... it's crowded, no parking on weekends. But it's home for now.....

There are better on Lake Champlain, 2014-01-13
Captain: , Northeast (20)

There is a medium level of protection on outside docks. Inside docks are better protected but steps away from the very loud onsite bar/restaurant (terrible food) that stays open until 2am. Evenings consist of little sleep due to obviously intoxicated boaters coming in and out of marina. There are also bar patrons wandering the grounds and docks into the morning. The docks are old fashioned and noisy with homemade power/water poles.

Nice place but a little overwhelming, 2013-08-19
Captain: , Block Island, NY (50)

Very busy marina, very nice restaurant , but a little noisy with the live band, we stayed the night on a slip which took a while to get assigned, but the people were very helpful.

Very helpful, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Lake Champlain (36)

The staff here was very helpful! Specifically Austin and Mike. We stayed 05/26/12 and 05/27/12. Nice enough docks, clean facilities, and busy place. They may need more help not sure if they were just short handed that day but the staff that was there was really great! Ask for Austin he is very helpful and make sure you get to talk to Mike a very polite fellow!

Unimpressed with Plattsburgh Boat Basin, 2011-09-05
Captain: , jackson, TN (884)

It took over and hour of circling in the mooring area to be assigned our dock. Yes, we had a reservation. It was Labor Day weekend, they were busy and the marina was definitely understaffed. Much more concerned about pumping their $5 gas than docking transients. They had four of us circling and waiting. No welcoming package for transients. They had to copy a map out of a local magazine for us. The Naked Turtle barr/grill is noisy, but the food and service was pretty good. The heads/ showers were old, dirty and full of spiders and mold. Not acceptable. Apparently they are putting in new docks, but the one we were on was old and rickety. They talked about moving us at dinner time on the second night, but sensed we were not happy about that and left us where we were. We'd stay elsewhere next time.

Ok, but understaffed, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Bainbridge Island, WA (343)

I agree w/ the others who were frustrated by having to tie up at the fuel dock in order to be assigned a slip (yes, we had a reservation). Luckily they weren't busy at the time. There's not much protection from the S & E, and if you're on the outer end of the dock, there's a lot of rock & roll. The dock we were on had been upgraded, and was solid, and the showers were clean, at least when we used them. Cabs are cheap; after being underwhelmed w/ the food at the Turtle, I ate at Livingood's the next night and was happier w/ there. I took a cab from the basin to the restaurant, from the restaurant to Hannaford supermarket on the outskirts of town, and from there back to the boat basin, and I didn't spend over $20 including tips.

Nice bar but a bit noisy as others have pointed out. There is also a small beach for those who like to swim. There in the process of replacing all the docks. Friendly people. Short walk to town but you'll need a car to get to a grocery.

Yes the Turtle is a little noisy on Friday & Saturday, but that is to be expected. The showers & facilities, compaired to some were good. Yep we'd stop again.

Exciting Place, 2010-01-02
Captain: , Poughkeepsie Yacht Club (137)

Great place to visit for a day or two, max. Lots of activity, lots of noise, great place to tip a few and eat alot. Most people seem to be having a good time here.
This is not a quiet retreat.
BUT, why do you always have to dock at the very busy fuel dock
to get your dock assignment?? A VHF radio might work here.

For the area, semi protected., 2009-07-11
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

Yes noisey, nice bar , floating docks. Had us first tie up to the fuel dock before they would assign us a slip???

Can be noisy at night as the restaurant(Naked Turtle) has live bands. Jf you have a slip or mooring away fron the land and restaurant it is not a problem to sleep.

Mixed Opinion, 2008-02-16
Captain: , Lake Champlain, Vermont (100)

Spent two nights on a slip one summer during very heavy winds. Nice to have the Naked Turtle restaurant nearby, but it is VERY NOISY, with numerous cigar-boats idleing in and out of the harbor every 15 seconds. Don't we love those cigar-boats. Short walk into Plattsburgh. Nice town, but not much to do.

Plattsburgh Boat Basin, 2007-06-05
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale, FL (429)

Home of the famed Naked Turtle restaurant and bar. Typical bar fare - Hot Spot of Plattsburgh during the summer.

Dangerous approach - breakwater is often partially submerged due to ice damage years ago. Approach around the east end which is marked by a light on a tower. Do not drive through the middle!
