Reviews for Piney Narrows Yacht Haven
Great staff at Fuel Dock, 2017-08-16
Captain: , Rock Creek, Pasadena, MD (308)

Stopped here for fuel (and doggie walks) on our way through the narrows. The staff at the fuel dock was friendly and accomodating. We were allowed to walk our dogs nearby and they let us stay on the dock until it was time for the next bridge opening. Couldn't ask for more accomodating service.

Great Fuel Stop, 2017-07-06
Captain: , Oakton, VA (349)

The prices were competitive and everyone was friendly and helpful on a busy holiday. I am sure we will be stopping here in the future!

Very nice, but watch charts, 2015-10-12
Captain: , Little River, SC (741)

Very nice marina just off the Chesapeake Bay. Great fuel price discount ($0.25) if you dock there for the night. Resultant price was lowest we've paid since leaving our home port 5 weeks ago. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were put in a covered slip. I've never been in a covered slip before. However, it was very tight for our 15'3" beam. As expected, dock was wide and well constructed. Local neighbouring boater was very helpful and friendly. Entrance from north is quite narrow. We ran aground when we moved slightly out of channel as a small powerboat was coming out of the channel and pretty much down the center. We quickly recovered and continued on our way. Be sure to stay in the channel! Leaving the next day heading south was a little dicey as well. I don't think we could have done it without our chart plotter as there were shoals everywhere and the channel is not well marked. It might be worth considering leaving by the same northerly route.

Okay but rather pricey, 2015-04-01

Its an okay place - a little steep and hard to find a good view with all of the sheds in the way. Too much asphalt and not enough greenery.

Good fuel prices, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Kent Narrows, MD (200)

We are local and don't stay at the marina. But we fuel here and find the prices very good. Before we put our boat up for the winter, we fueled at $3.55/gal and then got a 10 cent discount because we are a repeat customer and get more than 100 gal. October 30th we fueled my son's boat here. The price was dropped to $3.40/gal. With a 10 cent discount we felt we made out pretty well, having just come from the high prices in CT and NY. Piney Narrows stays open year round and the staff is very helpful and courteous. Surprisingly, this is a great stop in the Narrows where you might expect that prices will be very high.

Great Set-up, Bad Location, 2014-09-01
Captain: , Annapolis (127)

This is a very well-run marina! Aside from the lack of response on 16 as we approached, a quick cell phone call got us all the instructions we needed. Great dockhands to get temporarily tied-up while we got checked in and received our dock assignment for the night. Just be careful - there is a lot of current and wind through here at times.

Once we got settled, spent plenty of time at the amazingly well-maintained pool and walking the docks. It's obvious the owners take a great deal of pride in their boats and this marina (for the most part). The staff was all very friendly. This is a condo set-up, so plenty of owners around. All very welcoming to us "short-timers."

The one downside was the location. It's essentially located at LEAST 1.5 miles from anything...literally anything. If you want restaurant choices, etc, you have to stay on (or get to) the other side of the channel. We didn't have a dinghy or bikes, so were kind of stuck.

Overall, loved this marina, but would unfortunately probably stay on the other side next time to be closer to some amenities.

first Class, 2013-12-21
Captain: , Chester, MD (225)

You can't ask for more. Very protected. Covered Slips. Full amenities including clean washrooms at end of every dock, pool, clubhouse with great views, several restaurants within walking distance, and much more.

Great tucked away spot, 2013-07-09
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We stayed here one night on our way to Baltimore and were really impressed with the manager. You can purchase a slip here too. It has many covered slips but we are a sail boat so we stayed on a t-head but it was great to have the covered dock portion out to the t-head for protection from rain and hot sun. We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet, protected and friendly, 2012-12-01
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (10)

Great location to many area restaurants. Locked gated community; friendly neighbors. Welcomes live aboards.

NO MIFI access, 2012-05-29
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (386)

Spoke with Deborah who said that they do not have MIFI access at this marina. Otherwise we would have stayed here but husband works onboard and needs internet.

Fueling Station, 2011-09-07
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach, NC (31)

Fueled up with diesel on 9/3/11. My first fueling experience with this boat. Staff was very helpful, and did a pumpout at same time. Diesel was $3.88, with a 5% discount over 500 gals.

Nice place to spend the night., 2010-09-05
Captain: , Port Canaveral, Fl. (241)

Spent one night in Aug. 2010.

Clean, but busy transient heads.

Dock hands were top notch. Don't care much for the Kent Island area, but in this marina you are out of the traffic and current.

Would stay there again.

Fuel Dock Area, 2010-06-30
Captain: , Middle River (186)

Great place to get fuel
Fuel dock is right along the cut very convenient and the prices are very competitive.

Boater Friendly Marina, 2008-05-29
Captain: , Kent Island, Chesapeake Bay (169)

Piney Narrows is a condominium marina, which means that the owners are all Chesapeake boaters who understand what it takes to make a great marina. The general manager has managed Piney for over 20 years and is a real pro. Fuel pricing is competitive and the marina is very boater friendly. There is also a full service boat yard on the premises. Kent Island is only 4 miles wide but features a West Marine, Boaters World and two independent marine stores. Lots of nearby restaurants. On a windy day the Chester River and Chestertown and St Michaels and the Wye and Miles Rivers are all nearby without getting out into the Bay.
