Reviews for Pier Restaurant and Tiki Bar
Tiki Bar/Playland Moorings, 2013-08-01
Captain: , NYAC Pelham NY (171)

Easy approach, even in the dark!!! Good mooring field though tight in spots, adequate depth throughout. A few moorings have pennants o/w oversized barnalced mooring lines--gloves!!! Well run FREE launch service monitors 77, prompt and efficient. Drops you off at the Tiki Bar Rest and Lounge fun ambience decent bar/pub style food don't expect haute cuisine. Can walk right into playland. Fireworks 9pm Wed and Friday....lots of powerboats show for that then leave right after....We stayed overnight, were the only boat. Easy destination from anywhere in Western Sound. Would def go back

Going strong, 2013-06-07
Captain: , Oyster Bay, NY (10)

Was there Memorial Day 2013. They had maybe 10 moorings out to pick up and the launch was running. Restaurant was open and going strong. Some repairs still being done on the pier after Sandy, but it doesn't prevent someone from coming in and enjoying the restaurant & amusement park.

Very Good for a Lunch Stop, 2012-08-24
Captain: , Rye Boat Basin (407)

Before approaching the breakwater, make sure you call the restaurant -- (914) 967-1020 -- to verify whether the place is open and moorings are available.
Once you enter the breakwater and moore, an electric-powered launch will pick you up and deliver you to the dock for free.

Restaruant is nice, with beautiful outside terrace overlooking the sound. Food is average. Service is very good.

Perfect for what it is, 2012-06-26
Captain: , Stamford (130)

You can pull in to this well sheltered harbor and grab a mooring, if one is available. Usually there is one, if not you can anchor. A little water taxi constantly circles the harbor picking up and dropping off people at their boats (make sure to tip). Or you can just hang out on your boat and swim for a bit, they don't seem to get too upset. There is a rock wall that when the tide is right you can walk on and look like you have the ability to levitate. There are always people up on the pier looking down at the boats and/or fishing. Food is okay, the drinks at Tiki are great. I like the fishbowl for 2! It comes complete with gummy fish.

Adequate destination, 2011-07-16
Captain: , Rye, NY (43)

For those looking for a convenient dock and dine, add this one to your list. Cleat and eats are few and far between around the sound, this restuarant is an adequate destination. The mooring operation is well run. The restuarant itself has a satisfactory, but somewhat limited menu and certainly isn't fine dining. But it does the job.

Dock and Dine (or, rather, Moor and Munch), 2010-09-07
Captain: , Bristol, Rhode Island (2664)

New concession restaurant at county-run amusement park.
Recently installed dinghy dock now allows access to shore.
On Labor Day, about half of 26 mooring balls were occupied at lunch time. Friendly launch operator expertly piloted underpowered (electric-drive) African Queen-type watertaxi. Restaurants (indoor and outdoor) opened June 2010. Food, table service good; a little pricey, but it's all atmosphere. Owner John says he'll start promoting mooring-field's availability next season, so it may get more crowded.
