Reviews for Hyatt Pier 66 Hotel and Marina
Top Notch Marina, 2017-08-23
Captain: , Lighthouse Point (282)

Spent just one night during a promotion function for our new boat. Had to be carefull coming into C dock with other large boats around but was assisted greatly by two dockhands. Had wonderfull meal at the Pier 66 restaurant. Did not use the wifi so can't comment, everyone very friendly and professional and new floating docks were superb. Will be back here next time through.

Great service and location, 2017-02-20
Captain: , Boca Raton, Fl (94)

Great service and location. Dock hand Jamie was excellent. Fixed docks and pilings. No bumpers or fenders, so bring plenty. Great bar and restaurant "Pelican" right on the IC and allowed our small dog to sit outside on the patio. Dock Office has no dogs inside sign.
Located on the Hyatt 66 property, use of pool, facilities and many restaurants.
Currently no fuel due to line maintenance and do not allow dockside delivery.

Great Location & Marina Facilities, 2016-06-22
Captain: , Houston (140)

Very nice, marina facilities. The dock staff was great. Terry, Brian & Matt were very courteous & greeted us with a smile. Moe who is new was great too. We are not quite sure how to explain the "uncomfortable" feeling we experienced being a 42' Valiant Sailboat. When trying to get information & working w/ front desk staff at the Dockmaster office we felt as if we were "bothering" them. Internet did not work for us .We contacted them repeatedly. We had to leave the boat for several weeks Upon return we had a worse problem due to a mega yacht blocking the signal. After multiple inquiries regarding the signal, the IT guy came by, fixed the problem. He was great, apologized as he was not informed there was a problem. Ledonia at the front desk was the exception. She was great. We were actually looking for a place to do a long term lease, the cost not as important as amenity and courtesy.

Great facility, great staff, 2015-09-19
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (1342)

This marina nestles between the Hyatt and the ICW just above the 17th St bridge. Access is easy. It is packed with very large boats so manuevering can be challenging. Staff are attentive and incredibly helpful. The bathrooms are a pleasure. WiFi is poor. Even the lobby of the Hyatt doesn't provide very good Internet service. Access to groceries and other services requires ground transportation. For cruisers this is a good stop for a break but not for provisioning. The boat I was delivering draws 7-1/2 feet and there was plenty of water which isn't always the case at alternative stops.

I would use them again.

New, but not better, 2015-06-07
Captain: , Gainesville, Florida (195)

After being assured when I made reservations that I would be in the marina basin on C-Dock, they went ahead and stuck me way down the sea wall betweeen two giant catamarans. Dock boy told me that they had "five other boats coming in and that's all they had for me." People sitting outside of their hotel rooms 5 steps from our boat. Yuck. When I left the marina later the next day, these "five boats" STILL hadn't shown up or docked in the empty slips on C-Dock. Uncaring personnel. After tying up, we decided to make the very long hike back to the marina to try the Pelican Landing Restaurant above the dockmasters office. Indifferent service and lousy, expensive (for casual dining) food. For the rest of our meals, we dinghied across the ICW to the always excellent 15 Street Fisheries and Southport Raw Bar. We also walked around the facility and explored the hotel. Even though the docks are new - the rest of the facility feels run down. We won't be back.

New is Good, 2015-06-06
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (263)

We decided to use this newly refurbished marina for the summer instead of Bahia Mar we used in the past. Rates are slightly cheaper than Bahia Mar, security much better, better wind protection and nice staff. Additionally it is very easy access to the ocean.

Floating docks (located in the interior) are sturdy concrete with substaintial cleats. Pumpouts located near every slip (charge for pumpout) and garbage bins at each slip.

Be aware of tidal currents when entering or using the fuel dock. The entrance to the marina tends to silt and may limit depth to 9 feet at MLW. Staff is aware and they try to keep is dredged. Presently it is closer to 12 feet.

May 2015 Update
WOW! This marina has gone through a major upgrade. They now have new floating concrete docks, new washer/dryers and updated shore connections.

The marina grants access to all hotel amenities including the pool and spa etc.

Hotel has complemenarty beach shuttle.

Welcome to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous!

We stayed here for a few days waiting for a weather window to cross the gulfstream. This is a full service marina with a resort attached (fuel, pool, spa etc.). The mega yachts are very impressive. The marina facilities (laundry, bathrooms) were average and clean. The resort is very pricy. We paid $3.10 per foot plus power (water and cable are included in the rate). I think they should wash my boat for that price. Everything on property is very expensive. Not too many places to walk to for food. Most everything: Publix grocery, restaurants etc. are on the other side of 17th bridge about 2 miles away.

The marina facility is in need of some general maintenance. The shore power hook up did not work and we had to have an engineer come out (after we convinced them it was not our cord). The slip we were assigned to was missing padding for the concrete pillars. This made it a little dicey trying to avoid a big scratch. Be careful when walking around at night, lamps are out and some boats run power-cards across the dock and have water hoses lying out.

Great place to exit the USA. Just minutes from the Atlantic.

This is a nice place if you are a showy person and want room service to deliver to your boat. Not for us. We%u2019ll look for something else next time in Ft Lauderdale. This place is just not worth the money.

Great stop, 2015-04-24
Captain: , Kemah, TX (20)

Stayed two nights after winter in the Exumas. Although we were one of 3 sailboats among dozens of large motor yachts including Steven Spielberg's 270 ft Seven Seas, felt we were treated with first class service. Staff courteous and eager to help. They stayed after hours to help us dock on a Sunday evening. Avis car rental at the Hyatt on site, good restaurants, great location.

Very Nice Stop Over, 2015-04-08
Captain: , Virginia Beach, Virginia (84)

Pier 66 is a very nicve place to hang out for a day or two, if your budget can handle it. Outide docks (E&F) are fixed, inside are floating. Very nice to have pump out at your dock. Dock hands very good. Nice restaurants.

Much improved, 2015-02-25
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

The changes made to this facility are first rate. Great floating docks with pumpout right there. Excellent depth and the current gets cut down a little due to the docks but also the plethora of large vessels that surround the periphery. All slips take two vessels and here they fell a little short. We were placed in a slip that already had a wide body vessel (we are 18 beam) and it was a tight fit to not bump up against our new neighbor. They also tried to dock a much larger boat with a starboard engine out on the marina wall at the end of the fareway (a crippled boat cannot maneuver in that situation) and they did hit other boats. Early on it seems like a "hotel staff" running a marina. They need to mature into "boat people" which they will with experience.

Restaraunts on site were good and it is a mile walk to the main strip in Lauderdale. Not much available to you if you cross the 17 st. bridge. There is an Avis rental car on site though if needed. Worth a repeat trip.

No marina at the moment ..., 2014-06-29
Captain: , Bochum (318)

... there is no marina at Pier 66 they are completely rebuilding it, the only dockage now is alongside the canal heading east along the Hotel. No shower or toilet facilities are available dockside, but you can use all the Hyatts facilities. i.e. the pool, gym, bars & restaurants, unfortunately the WiFi is very weak and extremely slow. Position is good as stores go, Publix, West Marine, Sailorman and others are easily reached if you have a bike, also it's quick in & out for overnighters, only the 17th St. Bridge to tackle. At $1.50 a foot I don't think there is many better places to stay in Ft. Lauderdale at the moment, recommend to make reservations as it is very busy, call Jennifer on 954.728.3578, they also manage the Hilton marina on the other side of the ICW.

Closed for construction, 2014-05-29
Captain: , Ventura (40)

Stayed at Hyatt in Mid May, 2014. Docks were torn out for rebuilding (I assume). Don't know reopening date.

Nice - but no hot showers!, 2014-03-14
Captain: , Brooklin, ME (381)

Great faciliity, helpful staff, excellent restaurants. Access to hotel pool and exercise room is a huge plus. Only downside - cold showers!

Third class marina at first class price, 2013-12-31
Captain: , Pensacola, Florida (50)

Enjoy a warm, not hot, shower in a not so clean, telephone booth sized stall. Old fixed dock, WiFi very weak. Noisy gaggle of fishermen by the boats. My first sail to Ft. Lauderdale, so I don't know about the other marinas; I hope there are better choices.

June 15, 2013 aging and needs a face lift., 2013-06-23
Captain: , West Palm Beach, FL (30)

Pier 66 has an outstanding staff and boats to really admire, but it is getting old and showing it's age. Lots of rough edges on the docks, electric service was iffy, the pools are magnificant but need to be repaired and refinished. Food in the restaurants was very good. Diesel Prices were fair

Marina needs a lot of work by s/v Destiny, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Hertford, NC (215)

We agree with location, cheerful and accommodating staff, food and ambience at Pelican Grille over marina office, but marina is decrepit. They put us on D dock, in the armpit of the marina. In general, its condition makes it a third rate marina with disintegrating concrete pilings, broken and loose cleats, worn and damaged power modules. Until they do some major upgrading, I would give the marina condtion a disappointing grad of D, bringing our overall eval to three stars. Not worth the 3.05 per foot for the night, plus 15 dor 50 amp. Fuel dock also in poor shape, plus very short for maneuvering and conflicts with water taxi docking. Hardly a luxury marina as listed. Joan and Joah

Great Location , 2013-04-04
Captain: , Destin, FL (514)

Convenient access just above the 17th St bridge. Staff accommodating. Fuel on site. Upstairs restaurant deck is a great place for lunch and to watch the boat traffic, especially on weekends. A and B docks are fine- call ahead to request. Try Chuck's Steakhouse, a short cab ride up 17th Street.

Great Location, 2012-10-31
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Stayed here 6 nights for boat show, a bit pricey but great location and great public facilties (hotel lobby, pool area, spa 66). Had dinner at Grill 66 and it was excellent in both food and service. Marina staff was terrific. Here again 7 nights through 10-30-12, still great spot.

Not so bad, 2012-06-10
Captain: , Greenville TX (580)

We stayed on the C-dock. It's not in bad shape as previous posters suggested. At least compared to other places we've stayed. The dockhands are so busy with the megayachts though, that getting their attention was a challenge.

Within walking distance to a nice shopping area (Publix, Winn Dixie, Blue Water Books, many restaurants).

Just so so..., 2012-03-11
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale, FL (110)

I agree with a previous poster in that unless you are on A or B dock, the marina is in sad shape. Docks are falling apart. I was on D dock which had commercial boats coming and going, and my finger pier had someone's workboots, a fender, loose docklines and two sets of shore power cables lying about, which I had to step over.

I am local to the area and wanted a luxury marina for a weekend stay. Unless I can get a confirmed slip on A or B dock, I will not go back.

On the plus side, the food is fantastic at both Grill 66 and the Pelican Bar. The pool area is also very nice.

However, there was no Luxury as one would expect from a name like LXR Luxury Marinas. The price was also higher than another high end FLL marina with floating docks that I will go to next time.

Request A or B dock., 2012-02-11
Captain: , New Bern, NC (180)

I have stayed here twice , the first time in March of 2011, was a pleasant experience. The last time 2/2/2012 was not. The docks are fixed and A and B docks are in good repair. The first time I stayed I was on A dock across from the mega yachts. This time I was on C dock and they are third world. High tide pushes 8 inch long bolts up through the concrete so be sure to keep an eye out for them. The finger piers are crumbling and the local fisherman don't take kindly to sailboats in their midst.

Sadly from "Don't Miss to "Don't Bother", 2011-03-03
Captain: , San Francisco, CA (211)

i"ve used to be a regular but in the last few years they have turned me into an ex-customer. The whole facility is badly detoriated and poorly maintained. 70 % of the boats are brokerage and it's more like being in a maintaince yard than a pleasure boat marina.
The staff is pleasant and I feel for them trying to make a livi
ng in such a place. A major redo was scheduled but delayed due to a change in ownership.
It's a shame to see a great stop become a dump!!
I gave them 1 star for the staff.

Good for the Big Yard Ornaments, 2011-01-05
Captain: , Cape Cod (20)

Expensive!! Seems like a nice place, friendly staff, and close to everything. Nice pool and spa, and great resteraunts. your stuff, lock your boat. No security and a lot of dockwalkers looking for work. A nice Fountain CC was stolen from adjacent slip while i was there!!
