Reviews for Pickwick Landing State Park Marina
6/29/2016 Well protected, 2016-06-28
Captain: , Kuttawa Kentucky (410)

Spent one night close to the lock an dam to get early start the next day. Called ahead by phone and they were there on the dock after calling on ch 16. Bath house is a long walk. Great transient price.

A bit tight for larger boats, 2015-10-25
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (728)

We stayed here one night 10/10/15. Well marked channel and entered as a rain storm hit. Staff met us at our assigned slip and assisted us getting in. The slip was shared with a sailboat and at 15.5 wide it made a bit of a challange getting in. I would request an open slip or an end tie if you're bigger than about 40'.

Very Sheltered Marina, 2014-11-30
Captain: , Aurora, KY (146)

We happened to stopover the week before Thanksgiving and were treated to a full course turkey dinner put on by Ron the Harbormaster which we learned he does every year for employees and boaters. The food was delicious! Boy did we luck out! The marina is very sheltered and was a great stop after locking through. The only drag was when the winds shifted just right it blew the "fragrance" of the nearby paper mill toward us, but it didn't last long. Nice staff and beautiful setting.

decent stop, 2014-10-20
Captain: , Holland (270)

this was a good stop after a long day and a 2 hour wait at the lock. $1/ft. diesel around $4.10. clean restrooms but showers are a pretty good walk. easy walk to hotel and good low cost buffet. also a short walk to local oyster bar, .6 mile. hotel has day dock for diners.

Good overnight stop, 2014-10-08

We had a little trouble locating the entrance channel buoys. They are very small and hard to see from the main channel on a windy day. There wasn't much help docking on a very windy day either.

We did enjoy our night there and would not hesitate to return again. It is a nice quiet secluded harbor. Very quiet and peacfull.

Pickwick Landing Great stop, 2014-07-17

Captain: , scottsboro, Al. (141)

Tennessee river chart #4 shows a line of chanell markers starting near the mooring cells south east of the lock. They have been removed but the southwest track towards Taylor creek lining up on a very large boat launch ramp will head you through to the first red chanell markers. Water depth on the approach is 30' plus. As you transit the red chanell markers you will see a large orange sign on the river bank indicating the entrance to the marina which is in a cove and not visible from the river.

Pickwick Landng State Park - GREAT!, 2013-11-03
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

Only a few transient slips available but don't hesitate to call to check. New docks throughout rival the best commercial marinas, friendly and helpful staff, restaurant at park inn will pick up and return. Staff claims to have the lowest diesel prices on the lake. Staff went out of their way to get us a ride to a local restaurant when they learned that the restaurant at the inn was closed on Sunday nights. Convenient to the lock - just cut straight to their entry area after passing the red buoys upstream of the dam and honor the first red/green pair. Water is plenty deep all the way in to the slips. Would be five stars if there were easier access to local restaurants. Have showers (a bit of a walk), laundry and rest rooms. It's a marina not a resort!

Captain: , Murfreesboro, TN (360)

We had a very good stay on Oct.16,2013. Had supper at the Park resturand and found it all a valued expierence. Our only problem was finding the channel markers. We made it in and out OK and we draw 4'. All new floating docks with several transit slips. Nice folks and a beautiful place.

No Slips, 2013-03-22
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

For four years, up to and including last fall, we have transited this area to be told each time that they have no slips available due to construction. They have either the slowest construction crew known to man or ....... Have driven over there after we stayed elsewhere and see a lot of empty slips and not just on the construction areas.

Good Experience, 2012-10-27
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

We stayed at Pickwick Landing on 10/9/2012. We called in the morning and were told that permanent slip holders were in the transient slips while their slips were being replaced, but we were welcome to pull into one of the vacant sailboat slips where the work had already been completed. We arrived after closing and did just that. The slips are about 40'x22'. The only difference between the sailboat slips and the future transient slips is that they are further from the office/restrooms and that sailboats are assigned to these slips. Even though the marina was officially closed, a dock attendent was still there. I don't know if he had waited for us or not. He told us the location of the showers/restrooms and that we could call the park restaurant and they would send a ranger to transport us to the restaurant. Price was $1.00/ft. including electric. The marina is undergoing a complete renovation. We would definitely come back. I should mention that we did not have good luck with the self-service pump out. Very weak suction.

Captain: , St John USVI currently Homeport Marina Gulf Shores AL (234)

Nice transient docs if you find a slip open, Fuel - gas and diesel at good rates, pump out No showers at marina. Hotel and Restaurant open all year on premise, no courtesy car but the dock master will help you out to run to the store.

Dock is friendly and very near to Pickwick Lock.

Avoid at all cost, 2010-11-16
Captain: , Montreal (201)

They have no respect for transient and will throw you out even at darkness, could not care less pretending they have no room when there is a lot of empty spaces. not a good reputation for the state of Tennessee. Looking at their gas dock and the rest of their facilities, I would not trust their fuel.

No slips in 09, 2009-10-08

No room for transients til aug of 2009, 2008-05-21
Captain: , Absarokee Mt (1228)

As of May 2008 when we inquired, there will be no space for transients until august of 2009 due to construction. Still has a problem with the papermill smell but this is pretty spot with good places to walk , places to eat close, good Alltel connection and WIFI

This is a state operated marina. It is tucked away from all traffic and suffers no wake. Has a restaurant within walking distance at the Lodge. Very few transient slips so call ahead.
