Reviews for Philadelphia Marine Center
Didn't meet expectations, 2016-06-12

Chose this marina as they listed pumpout as a service. Come to find out, the pumpout is at a commercial dock upriver, $40 charge and you have to leave the marina within 90 minutes of high tide. Marina location is excellent, however, ou!r slip was right under Dave and Busters Parking lot along the sidewalk...made for a busy, noisy weekend. Loved Philadelphia

Noise and Wakes, 2016-06-11

This marina is wonderfully located to see Philadelphia's Old City and to take advantage of Phlash, a transit system that goes to all the tourist sites for minimal cost (free to seniors). In the office Barb is wonderful, greeting arrivals with a welcome packet filled with maps and local information, restaurant suggestions, etc. So I'd love to give this 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately the marina is hit by endless wakes from the river, creating a bathtub effect. We've bounced around so much that I've gotten up at night to recheck our lines and fenders. And the nightclub here is insane. Wasn't too bad on Wednesday and Thursday, but on Friday it went to 2 am and then we were treated to all the screeching cars and drunks loudly departing - and it all started up again at 3pm on Saturday. With the boat totally closed, the A/C running and earplugs its barely tolerable. We have to stay a few more days for personal obligations, but will definitely be out of here before the next weekend.
IF you do decide to come here be aware that the current is fierce and the entry requires a 90 degree turn immediately after entering. Come at slack tide if at all possible!

Nice, convenient marina, 2016-05-12

We are just finishing up three days here. This Marina is in walking distance from the historic area of Philadelphia, and there is inexpensive public transportation nearby. The facility is very clean (quite a bit of river trash, but this is not the marina's doing) and you could not find a person more helpful than the office manager, Barb. Great city!

Philadelphia Marine Center
We stayed here for just under 2 weeks; they prorated the monthly fee to weekly. Over all it was still on the high side but there are only a few marina%u2019s in Philadelphia. The laundry and shower facilities are in outstanding shape. All docks are protected by a keycard, and we felt safe. We had a lot of logs and other debris in the water that collected on the south side of the docks. That just happens to be where the transient slips are. We were backed right up to the warehouse with the bridge looming above us. You can hear the subway as it passes by. The location is great if you want to visit the historic sites, and you%u2019re only a few blocks from the Phlash. Over all a really good marina and I am giving it a 4 starts, but would give it a 3.5 if possible. Being that close to the bridge will leave your boat coated from all the traffic on the bridge, I believe it is a mixture of oil, rubber, and exhaust.

Location Location, 2011-07-04

Excellent location. A short walk or bike ride to the center of Historic Philadelphia. Several corner markets close by as well as the famous Reading Terminal, a must stop for fresh fruit and meat.

Expensive but available convenient to Site, 2011-07-03

They were kind enough to get me in after a miscommunication with Piers Marina. The folks are very nice but the train noise, dirt from the overhead bridge and wakes made the location less pleasant. Secure with electric key fob($50 deposit if not returned) gate entry. Interestingly they said if I left when the office was closed to put the key fob in the mail box on the office door. However the office is outside the secured pier/slips so you need a fob to get back to the boat??? I propped the gate open so we could leave early. Lot's of current so best to arrive at or near slack tide.

I kept my boat here until i could take it no longer., 2011-07-03

This marina was top notch after it opened for a few years until a new manager arrived and suggested boaters should take their trash home in their vehicles and should pay for parking by the hour in an adjacent parking lot that was formally included in the sliip fees. Note to marina owners - accountants make very bad marina managers. The location couldn't be more perfect as you can walk to many local restaurants in the city. Dave and Busters is in the marina as well as a local bar on the deck. All of the great attributes of this marina were overshadowed by the worst mangement I have seen in my 30 years of cruising. Left a while ago- maybe its better if they have changed the managemnt since I left.

Excellent Value, 2010-07-18
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (456)

Transient slips are up against pier 12 which is very close to the Ben Franklin Bridge. We stayed for a week and accumulated a ton of black streaks in our fibreglass. We think this is from a slight oil mist coming off vehicles and trains on the bridge.

All floating slps in good repair. Spotless showers, heads, and laundry. Electric and cable TV included in dockage rate. They will pro-rate the monthly fee if your staying for a week. Good deal! Excellent security - comforting since this a downtown Philly location. If you are here over a weekend, be aware that a loud outdoor nightclub (Octo) plays until 2:00 AM Sunday and 11:00 PM Friday. If your slip is close in, you won't be happy.

Walking distance to historical attractions. Phlash bus will take you all over the tourist attractions for $5/day. Free for seniors!! We also took the ferry (walking distance) to NJ to tour the battleship New Jersey. Awesome!

Barb, the manager was very helpful. Anything you need, she can/will help. Considering all of the above, we think this marina is excellent value.

Nice location but, 2010-06-02
Captain: , baltimore, md (106)

Great location and within walking distance of all Phila has to offer. Tricky entrance when current is running - observe current before attempting to enter marina. if your boat is over 40 feet the view is of a wall. Good service attendants and fuel is $3.09 diesel
