Reviews for Peterborough Marina
great operation and location, 2017-08-17
Captain: , Marthasville (643)

Fueled, pumpout and docked thanks to very responsive and enthusiastic staff.

All the stores (groceries, LCBO, beer store) and restaurants , including a boaters world nearby.

Would definitely stop here again.

impressive staff and facilities, 2017-07-28
Captain: , Gananoque ,Ontario Canada (430)

The staff were outstanding in both their local knowledge of current as you appproach the assigned slip or fuel dock. The bathrooms are clean and the staff go out of their way to help Big thanks to Christina and Ben. This city has the right approach free concerts in the park Wednesdays and Saturdays. More cities could benefit from this model for tourism. All ammenities arre reasonably close to the marina. There is a beautiful park to sit and watch the colourful fountain at night by the waterfront.

Great Marina and Entertainment, 2017-07-17
Captain: , Stoneledge, Cayuga Lake (130)

Not only is this an easy access, well run marina but they have free concerts with great groups. Only negatives were one washer/dryer and long walk to beer store.

Great stop for Loopers, 2017-07-15
Captain: , Newburgh,NY (110)

Behn, Kate and the rest of the crew here go out of their way to make loopers feel welcome here. A nice welcome bag of goodies, discounted dockage, free pumpout for loopers. Nice!

The town is great. Free concerts Wed & Sat right next to the marina. Resident boaters friendly and helpful. Whats not to like in Peterborough?

Wonderful marina, 2017-07-10
Captain: , Corpus Christi (150)

We came in for a little fuel and a pump out with plans to stay for two days. Christina and Kate met us at the fuel dock, managed the lines, took care of the pump out and the fuel for us while we sat and visited with them What a wonderful way to start our stay. The ladies explained the current and how to manage it at our slip and were waiting for us as we attempted to dock. We came in as they explained and everything worked great. They had us tied up quickly while explaining some of the local attractions. Clean facilities and a great welcome packet. The marina and staff really make AGLCA members feel welcome. Pump out is free for loopers, 4 ft. discount for loopers etc. etc. Friendly local folks on the docks also offered advice on dinning choices. Glad that we stopped and a special thank you to Kate and Christina. Job well Done!!!

A wonderful place to stay, 2017-07-09
Captain: , Kenosha, Wi (90)

We arrived on a perfect weekend. Ribfest in town, concert in the park next door and Friday night music nearby.

It's a very nice marina with good, well kept facilities. There was a very stiff current running next to the docks. Some docks were protected, others were not. The staff said that it was unusual for July as the current usually dies down by June, but the heavy rains this year have caused an unusual amount of water in the river system.

The dock staff are incredible. They know how the current runs and will talk you through the current. Then they will swarm over your boat to get you tied up and connected. They will stop at nothing to get you comfortable. We had several Loopers here over the weekend and the marina hosted docktails on the pier. They set up a table and brought a huge assortment of munchies. So nice.

Great Marina, great town!, 2017-07-08
Captain: , Honolulu (712)

From the moment Pat and Christina tied us up for our pumpout to the morning we left three days later, our experience at Peterborough Marina was fantastic. We arrived June 2nd just after Canada's 150th holiday, the busiest day of the year and the staff was still frindly, enthusiastic and accomadating as all get out! $1.85 a foot.l Peterborough is a great town with boat supplies, provisions and liquor stores all within a short walk. Farmers market on Wednesday and Saturday, big time entertainment in the park next to the Marina on Wednesday nights.

Captain: , Clayton, NY (655)

The marina is a municipal marina so there are not a lot of frills, but the staff is wonderful. They are very friendlay and most accomodating. We stopped here on the way up to Georgian Bay and then again on Canada Day on our way back to the 1000 islands. We called a week before Canada day to reserve a slip and they said they have had a waiting list for over a month. We stopped in on Friday just by chance they had a cancelation because the weather has been so bad. They had some cancelations and moved some boats around and got us in. The staff are always busy docking boats, pumping gas and scooping ice creeam. They always have a smile on their faces. Thank you Behn, Kate, Patrick and Mark for making our stay so pleasurable.

convenient spot, fantastic staff, excellent amenities, 2017-06-20
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (420)

stayed 2 nights on B dockhead. Marina buildings are commensurate with it's age, but clean, well maintained, excellent showers

awesome stop on the trent, 2016-08-19
Captain: , Pensacola Fl (80)

this is a great spot to layover before the peterborough lift lock, great town for bike riding and provisioning. the staff is first class and they cater to looper AGLCA members. I will for sure be back and they also have great water power and icecream. live music every week in the park right next to the marina.

Professional staff and great harbor hosts, 2016-08-16
Captain: , Charleston, SC (210)

excellent marina. everything within walkong distance. dock hands actually knew how tomtie a vessel and knew the difference between a springmlinemandma breast line. big difference when compared to the typical college kid you get at most marinas. looper discount. don't miss this stop.

Harbor hosts Don Bennett and Freya Petersen are fantastic. they personally prepared a welcome bag of brochures and maps of numerous TSW stops and locks. Also included was home made jam. Marina also included some items. What a pleasant surprise. Thanks.

Great place, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

We stayed one night, August 7th. Staff was great. So many things within walking distance. Previous reviews with more details are accurate. Hobarts Steakhouse was great. We walked from the marina and it took longer than we had planned. We arrived 5 minutes after they stopped serving but the chef said no problem. We had the restaurant to ourselves and they couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely stay here again.

great staff, great location, nice town, 2016-07-13
Captain: , Hallowell, Maine (240)

Excellent professional staff, internet variable. Great location for first class free open air concerts twice a week . Nice biking paths too.

Great marina, great town, 2016-07-11
Captain: , warm waters (828)

Date of visit: 7/8 thru 7/12/16
It is no understatement to say that every member of the staff is exceptional. The marina is clean, well kept, with decent wifi. Peterborough has much to offer. We reprovisioned with all of summer's bounty at the farmers' market, ate our fill at Ribfest, and walked miles of walking/biking trails along the river. There are restaurants for every cuisine; Hobart's Steakhouse on Hunter St. was a lovely place to celebrate two birthdays with friends. Also within walking distance: hardware, office supply, pharmacies, boutiques, thrift shops, grocery stores, etc.
We can't review this marina without mentioning Don and Freya. In addition to hosting docktails, they gifted each Looper with a goody bag full of delightful treats and helpful information. Don arranged for a tour of the Peterborough Lift Lock, which was a highlight of our stay. Freya made a grocery run and delivered Peameal bacon and fresh cherries to all interested parties.
Marina discounts for Loopers include free P/O, being charged 4' less than boat length, and a discount for power.

Fabulous staff and a great stop!, 2016-06-26
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

You can't say enough good things about the staff here. The docks are great as is the setting in the park. If you are a Great Looper, you will get a special discount and you 'must' check in with Harbor Hosts, Don and Freya, who are delightful people.

It was a Sat nght and there was a large concert in the park. Overall, it was a wonderful stop.

Excellent experience, 2016-06-11
Captain: , Au Gres, MI (42)

We have had a really great stay at Peterborough Marina. Couldn't have asked for more friendly and accomodating staff. Had three staff at the dock when we arrived to assist with lines. They volunteered to drive us to a store to get more engine oil. Once we were docked, we had a few more questions about the marina about five minutes one of the staff was as the boat with keys and information. Highly recommend Peterborough Marina!

Another great place on the Trent-Severn, 2015-08-23
Captain: , Wicomico Church (610)

What else can I say.. woth the stop and so that you are fresh for the "big lock"

Loved the open air concerts yards from our boat. Beautiful parks, farmer's market, vibe. Busy place so you may want to reserve ahead.

Fantastic!, 2015-07-26
Captain: , Honey Harbour, Ontario (170)

Enthusiastic and helpful staff.

AGLCA discount.

Great Stop for Loopers, 2015-07-16
Captain: , Fort Monroe, VA (949)

Have not experienced as much hustlefrom a marina staff as from Behn and his crew. Three were on the dock to assist in tieing us in a nasty cross current and high winds. Previous comments are spot on so I won't duplicate. Great two or three day layover and crew/guest change location.

Great town with great Harbor Hosts, 2015-07-16
Captain: , Winter Park (491)

Everything everyone said before is true; this is a great place and Freya & Don are the best! The staff at the marina are top notch! A special thank you to Bhen for assisting me in a special favor; your customer service is second to none. This Marina gets very busy all at once when the locks open, so have patience with the excellent staff. Don oversees it all and you won't be disappointed. A few more washers would make it easier when there are lots of loopers, but this should not discourage you from staying here one bit! You must visit the lift lock, even if you have no intention of going through it - there is nothing like it. The concert on Wed night was an extra special bonus of fun!

Great little town, 2015-07-15
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Everything about Peterborough is nice. The marina was clean and offered all one could want. And the town is terrific with nice restaurants, a good marine store and plenty of provisioning options. And the walk over to the Peterborough lift lock was fun and the lock AMAZING. Well worth the stay. And go to the visitor center. It's the only place on the entire Trent Severn to buy a souvenir!

Great Marina & Great People, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Most of the previous reviews are very accurate so I won't repeat them. Ben, Kate and the other staff are excellent and the facility is first rate. Free pump outs and reduced power fees for loopers. Fantastic Canada Day activities surround the marina. Only minor complaint is there's only one washer and dryer, tho a nearby laundromat is a 10 min walk.

Looper must stop, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

Bhen & Kate on top of it--Thanks
For you loopers you can't beat the harbor host Freya and Don.
Great resturants in walking distance.

Canada Day, 2015-07-02
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (80)

We have had a wonderful stay here for the last 6 days. The Marina staff and our great Harbor Host from the AGLCA Freya & Don couldn't have provided more fun and hospitality. Great Marina, park and music going on very often. Would highly recommend this marina be one of your stops. Minutes from downtown with very good resturants as well.

Great convenient stop, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

Ben & Kate are great!
Freda the harbor host is awesome.
We were trying to decide whether to lock thru 20 & 21 and stay on the wall or stay at the marina. We are glad we took the 1/8 mile detour!
The stores are close. The restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk.

Great Marina, Sights and Worthwhile, 2014-08-18
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

We left the boat here for 14 days while we had to fly home in late July to mid-August. The staff was first class and said they would check on the boat regularly. Liked the gate security and the AGLCA harbor host who provided information and was down the dock from us. Easy bike around town, Enterprise rental car is available and good wi-fi.

It Takes Two takes a stop at Peterborough Marina, 2014-08-13

Great marina, 2014-07-16
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Great marina with all the amenities, next to a park with free concerts on Wed. & Sat. Dock staff very friendly & helpful. Town is close by with many restaurants. Lot's of bike trails. Fun to go see the lift lock. Lot's of loopers stop here & the AGLCA Harbor Hosts are great.

Great stop., 2014-07-05
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

Nice marina with excellant facilities. Individual bathrooms with showers. A laundry room with 1 washer and dryer. Many restaurants within walking distance. Moderate current coming down river from railroad bridge.

Great stop before the Peterborough Lift Lock, 2014-06-23
Captain: , Pensacola, Fl (70)

Brandon was a very professional and informative dock master. He gave us lots of good information and great directions. The rest of the staff was great and Don the manager is a good ambassador for the City and the area. Very convenient to stock up.

A Great Marina to Visit Peterborough, 2014-06-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

Staff is excellent, very pleasant and helpful. Marina is next to a public park but each dock has security gate. They sell Kawartha ice cream at the marina office;it's great! Peterborough is a nice walkable city. Grocery, pharmacy, banks, restaurants all nearby. An excellent stop.

Perfect location in Peterborough, 2014-06-08
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

We are on the T-Head, super easy docking, deep water. Dock crew is first rate. This is the first place that has braided the line rather than leaving it in a heap on the dock! Marina is very clean, no trash, seaweed, etc. even with people walking the main wall. Each pier has a lock for great security.

Laundry is good, one of each. Showers are nice, cleaned daily!!! Ice cream and a bar/bar food on the marina property.

Marina esidents are very nice and friendly. 8 block walk covered a hardware store, food, beverages, etc. Lots of places to eat from super nice, to sandwich shops.

High point for food was Gerti's on Hunter Street. Next is Jacks Chicken for breakfast.

Worth going to the Peterborough Lock to watch in action before/after you ride it. Lock master was very nice, we got a quick tour of the control room. It's an amazing chunk of 100 year old machinery.

Fish off the dock, main wall that wraps around the park or go up river along the walking trail.

If you have a few days, this is a good place to spend them.

Very nice and accomidating, 2013-10-09
Captain: , Barrie (103)

Had some mechanical difficaulties with my shift linkage at lock 19. Therefore had to come in late. Staff went out of thier way to accomidate me. Nice clean facilities close to everything.

Nicely Run Marina, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Sturgeon Bay, WI (287)

The staff is very good. We had three dockhands meet us at our slip and handled the boat expertly. It is located very close to all the needs a boater might have within easy walking distance.

We listened to an outdoor jazz concert at the Holiday Inn on Friday night and watched a community concert in the park on Saturday evening. Great visit.

The Place to Stay when in the Peterborough Area, 2013-08-01
Captain: , Prescott, Ontario (141)

Washrooms are well kept, cleaned and maintained. Shops and stores within walking distance. Tim Hortons for your morning coffee and a fish and chip store for your supper both just across the road.

What a fun place, 2013-07-27
Captain: , Everett WA (424)

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon in July. Live music playing on the patio above the marina office. Concert tonight just steps from the boat. Very popular place for local boaters. Plus all the nice things others have said.

Great Stop for Virtually All Needs, 2013-06-29
Captain: , Charleston, SC (422)

LCBO (wine/liquor), groceries, hardware and plenty of restaurants. Staff very helpful, restrooms clean and plenty of space for your pet to wander. Music at the neighboring outdoor stage starting in July and an easy walk to Peterborough liftlock to take some pics. A little current may push you in towards the fuel dock...just keep in mind

Nice place to stay and restock your Galley, 2012-09-05

Captain: , Mystic (909)

Nice clean marina. Everything you need to re-supply is close by.
Free concerts on wed and sat nights during the summer. Saw the John Denver tribute last week there and it was excellent.

Very helpful staff, 2012-07-15
Captain: , prospect, ky (415)

I left my boat here for 3 weeks while I came home to tend to business. When I returned, every thing was fine with my boat. The weekly dockage price is very reasonable, and supplies are very close by. The staff is great!

Would stay again, 2012-07-09
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Nice marina with friendly boaters and clean facilities. Plenty to do in Peterbough with in walking distance. Staff was "johnnie on the spot" helping to dock. It was windy and they even stationed someong on the ajoining boat just in case. Didn't need him but it was comforting to know he was there and that they were so concerned about all the boats they have in marina.

Easy access and great stay, 2012-07-08
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

Easy to get pump out and fuel on your way to a slip. Very convenient and staff very efficient. Nice restrooms, showers and laundry. Try for a Wed or Sat stay as concerts at marina during the summer.

Well Managed Marina, 2012-06-27
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

Bought fuel, pumped out, and stayed overnight. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Walked a bit to Hot Belly Mamas and it was worth the walk for louisiana Cajun food adjacent to a small brew pub. Boaters world has good selection of marine items. Supermarket nearby. Liquor store nearby. Small but good washer/dryer facility at marina. Nice rest rooms/showers.

Peterborough City Marina, 2011-11-24
Captain: , Margaritaville (355)

A well run municipal marina at fair dockage rates.
Close walk to downtown stores and restaurants.
Parks nearby, lots to do.

Great place to stay, 2011-08-02
Captain: , Calgary, Alberta, Canada (854)

All around nice marina, well situated with respect to shopping and green park areas. Only one washer and dryer means that doing laundry might take awhile. Plenty of showers available, and all were clean when we were there.

Don and his staff were some of the most helpful and accommodating people we've run into on the water. The town of Peterborough has excellent restaurants, including Hot Belly Mama's, located only a short walking distance away. This marina should definitely be on the list of must stays on the Trent-Severn.

Good Marina great docks., 2011-08-02
Captain: , Penetanguishene ON (219)

`The Marina is very nice but the washrooms can be a problem after a weekend, especially a long one. During the week they are kept clean but their condition deteriorates on Sunday afternoon.

Winds and currents can make getting into the marina or off the fuel dock tricky. Paya attention to them.

good for a few days, 2011-07-22
Captain: , Westport,Ma (710)

Great steff but filthy bathrooms and the resturant up on the deck leaves much to be desired, the weekly concert was GREAT!!!! Good ice cream right at the dock masters office so all was good!!

Great place to stay, 2011-07-11
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

Don and his staff go out of their way to make your experience enjoyable. The staff have obviously been well trained on how to assist in docking and providing information about the surrounding area.

The docks and facilities are kept in very good shape. This is a good place to stop.

Be cautious of the water depth is the bay coming in and stay in the channel and away from the fountain.

I would stay here again when in the area.

The restaurant at the marina is good with live music on weekends. The food is pub food and has good quality. The owner Randy Elliott was a very gracious host.

There are additional restaurants within a 15 minute walk.

There is a marine store and supermarket within a 10 minute walk. If you need your marine store purchases delivered the staff will bring them to the marina if you request, they did for us.

Almost Perfect Marina, 2011-07-05
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Great location for all a transient boater could want. Small city has friendly citizens & excellent restaurants. Marina staff are helpful. New docks! The city bike paths are incredible. Get maps from Marina office. Ride to lift lock museum for the history.

Saturday night concerts, 2010-08-21
Captain: , Elizabeth City, NC (241)

Saturday night there is a concert put on by the local chamber of comerce(?). It is pretty good and there is a good turn out for it. The concert is directly behind the marina. Friday night there is a jazz band playing at the Holiday Inn.

Great place to provision. There is also a boats unlimited store... real pricey (!!!!)

You can anchoir out in the basin if you wish and use the dinghy docks next to the Holiday Inn.

Very Helpful, 2010-08-04
Captain: , CHICAGO (278)

Great staff, all very helpful an accomodating. Facilities are above average and close to shopping and etc.

Good marina in a good location, 2010-06-30
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

An excellent facility with a knowledgable and friendly staff. Six dock hands assisted large boats docking in very fast current. Seasonal slip renters fill most of the marina but they make visitors very welcome.

Ideal location for enjoying everything in Peterborough. If you need anything from a marine store, visit Boaters World only two blocks away. If they don't have it, they will get it within days and deliver it even if you move along the TSW.

Nice stop, 2009-07-17
