Reviews for Pentwater Marina
Great marina near downtown, 2017-03-30
Captain: , Muskegon MI (265)

Great marina near downtown with a charming marine store across the street. Great access to the fuel dock and resturants.

rolly with little protection, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (320)

Was happy to get a slip at Pentwater municipal marina because Lake Michigan was rolly with 13 knot winds and 2 foot waves. The good: great town wifi at the docks, town is nice with several restaurants and a grocery within an easy walk. Nice maritime store. Easy approach and sturdy docks. The not so good: the docks are not protected at all and there is considerable roll at the dock. Noisy in the morning with fishing boats (several charters run out of the marina) leaving at 5 am and 530 am. Only single 30 amp per each slip. No 50 amp and no opportunity to use two 30s. Couldn't raise them on the radio; had to contact them by phone. Dockmaster seemed cranky - maybe we just got him on a bad morning.

Very accomodating, 2016-07-18

Answered radio calls promptly. Found the right slip with my requested port side tie. Staff (2) was there to meet me and help dock as I'm single handing a 32' trawler. The town speaks for itself-great place. The marina is right at the water tower so it's easy to find in a great location

Not the best option, 2014-09-16

You will get the surge at the mariina coming in from the lake. Depends on the lake what you will receive.
Dockhands will meet you at the dock and help with initial line catching and then walk away. Better protection at Snug Harbor.

Enjoyed this stop, 2014-08-22

Easy in and out. Steve, assistant dockmaster very friendly and welcoming. No problem with electric or water. Walked around the cute town and ate dinner at Antlers Bar.

Nice Marina, Nice Town, 2014-07-28

Came in here just before a big blow. Staff helpful, $45 for 38 ft boat not bad. Had no problem with electric or wifi as PO noted. Laundromat is close by and great little grocery store.

move on go to Snug Harbor next door, 2014-07-02
Captain: , Sandusky, OH (370)

No electric, pump out didn't work no wifi didn't reach that far, staff caught our lines, laundromat across street 2.50 load, nice little town with the proper amount of tshirt shops,Cenzanos grocery neat and very helpful across the street. Had to run gen for power but limited anchor area according to staff at marina

Great location, good stop, 2012-08-20

Marina is located right on the main street of the town. Laundromat (large one) is right across the end of the street in Snug Harbor Marina's building. Several restaurants down the main street. It was recommended to stay out of the pizza shop. Rates are relatively low at the marina. Our 41ft boat cost us $52 with electric. We stayed here because the anchorage was not sufficient to hold more than one or more boats and the wind was going to shift EASTERLY during the night. The water depth in the anchorage was 30 ft. Marina was the best choice. Had dinner in the Brown Bear bar down the street - hamburger and broasted chicken. Cost $21 for two including tip. Cant beat it with a stick.
There is a small grocery and liquor store (Cenzo's) across the street from the laundromat in the Snug Harbor building. Limited choice but at least you might be able to get some basic stuff without a lot of walking if you need it.

Pentwater Municipal Marina, 2011-12-05
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (684)

We stayed in Pentwater a 3 times in the 2011 season. We were assisted at the dock twice and got in late another time and when we called on the radio the attendant offered to stay if we needed help. Only one slip for boats over 40' and it's a ways to the electric and water. Bathroom facilities are older but well maintained. The town is right there with a convience store less than a block away. 3 blocks north of the marina is the city park with music a couple of nights a week. Restaurants close, I suggest Brown Bear and broasted chicken. The Admiral says that the Antler Bar across the street is also good. The park in front of the marina has dog bags posted in a couple of places easy for pickup. We found the locals easy to talk to and friendly with lots of advice. We docked with the stern out and had acceptional views of storms comming in off the lake and yacht club has one design races. Also watched couple of kids catch a 30" Northern from the dock 30' away. We will stay again. Price per night was $50.00 for a 46' boat.

Would not stay here again, 2011-08-17

Came in and the dock hands were minimally helpful, so much I did not tip them. Caught the lines but did not assist with electric and did not provide town information until requested to do so.

When we came in we paid for one day and asked about additional days and was told no problem. The next morning when I went to the office to pay for 2 more days due to the weather forecast, high winds and 4 - 6 foot waves, I was told they did not know if we could stay and we very well may have to leave.

Called Snug Harbor, right next store, and they made a place for us for the next 3 days.

Facilities were well kept clean, and right in town or the rating would be a 1.

Great location, in town with great restaurants and shops, good for fuel, ok but not great for bath and shower facilities.

Another nice michigan marina with reasonable rates. You are right in the small downtown with lots of shops and restaurants.
