Reviews for Penn's Beach Marina
Worst Marina Ever, 2015-07-14
Captain: , Bodkin Creek Md. (207)

Stayed at this Marina 6/29/15 to 7/2/15. They have the worst bathrooms and showers I have ever seen anywhere. No radio or dock hands. Marina office not manned regular hours. People in the condos are VERY unfriendly and DO NOT want you there. Dockage gives you use of the pool but condo owners make it quite clear you are VERY unwelcome. Marina basin is dirty with floating trash and dead marine life. If it were not for the Beautiful town of Harve de Grace and the nice people there the Five Boats we went with would have been a waste of their money. I only give it a 1 star because there is not a lower option.

We were with our friends on a 9 boat cruse on the upper Chesapeake and stayed at heron harbor for three nights. We love Havre de Grace and it's park and shops. The marina has gone down hill to say the least. The manager Wayne has no interaction with the marina guest and does not seem to care about the condition of the facility. The bathrooms look as though they have never been cleaned this season. The area under the office was a mess. We will not be back any time soon

This marina has a beautiful location (view), with floating docks and easy access to town HOWEVER..... it is one of the most poorly run marinas I've ever been too. When we first approached and there was no answer on the VHF, I attempted to call them on the phone with no success. We came into the basin and asked a couple of folks on the docks (who were all quite friendly) if they knew where the dockmaster was -- their response ranged from a shrug, a laugh, and a "good luck with that" reponse. So we took an open slip near the entrance and began our search by foot. When we finally located someone (Wayne), we were informed that they didn't have any slips available with 50 amp service left (and we had made a reservation one week earlier), but if we wanted to wait, they "thought" a couple of boats should be leaving later today. Without any other choice, we waited until a slip opened up. What should have taken us 10 minutes took almost three hours!

Finally, if you come here on a weekend, be preapred to "rock and roll" from the wakes of other boats pasing the marina. Despite a 6 mph speed marker, the locals just ignore it and go full speed past the marina. It was most unpleasant and at times, unsafe.

If you still decide to come to Havre deGrace (but stay at another marina), don't miss the Duck Decoy Museum, the Maritime Museum, and the Concord Point Lighthouse Keepers Home. All very worthy of your time and enjoyment!

OK for a night, 2013-08-13

They were kind enough to find us a space with deep water (5').. but managment only there part time.. There appears to be no facilities for groceries in the area (6 miles) and the rest of the town is dead...but they do have a small pool and a couple of showeres

this place is okay, 2013-07-23

I'm not as high as some of the other reviewers. Pool definitely has a great view and the people are friendly but the bathrooms are just okay and there is not a lot of help. Town is close but on a summer weekend it was really a crap shoot as to what stores where open and which were closed. Best reason to stay here is that it is 5 minutes away from one of the top 100 public golf courses in the US - Bulle Rock.

Great Views & clean pool, 2012-08-04
Captain: , Sue Island, Maryland (131)

A nice clean marina with great views of the topography of the upper Bay. Great floating docks and close walk to town. Wonderful small pool with views. Safe as part of the Condo project. I took away the 5th star because of the following: Missing safety items on piers; no life rings, no fire extinguishers and no ladders to get out of the water, if needed. Also, only part time management. There were 2 strong WiFi sites but NOBODY knew the passwords, not even permanent slip holders. Will still return next season for a mid week visit.

We spent October and November at Penn's Beach Marina while travelling south. My Wife stayed on board while I went overseas. Great location. Short walk to downtown. Marina store nearby. Clean, friendly and great neighbours.

I kept my boat here during the 2009 summer season. Great views, it's attached to condoniniums, the pumpout was down for the entire season I was there, but overall a nice place.
