Reviews for Pelican Harbor Marina
Great Stop off ICW / Tommy is the BEST, 2016-11-06
Captain: , Forked River NJ (50)

this review is based more about Harbormaster Tommy who is amazing. He is very professional and helpful. A great stop off the ICW to relax and wait for weather. Services are within walking distance, but buses are also available.

Price is right at $1.38 per foot., 2016-01-29
Captain: , Point Edward (459)

Transients are on a dock in an ungated area but no concerns about security. WiFi only available in "lounge" area which is their conference room which is not always available to boaters. Showers were acceptable after painter was finished and some cleaning done.
Tommy and some staff very helpful and they handled a miscommunication problem very nicely for us.
Nice extras are the opportunity to visit the seabird station and attending the regular Wed Food Truck party across the intersection.

Good stop to visit South Beach, 2016-01-17
Captain: , Galena, MD (1856)

Stayed here 1/12/16-1/13/16. Stopped for pumpout and dock hands we there to help catch lines and perform pumpout. Slip assignment was on D dock, on the back side of the marina. Well protected. Short piers require aft in. Need to watch ladders on pier as they extend into slip. 50amp service was all that was available at our slip, so will need a splitter. Docks are gated and trash containers available at each gate. Recycle is also available.
Dockmaster was helpful with info on the area and bus pickup accross the street, right down to South Beach area.
For this area this is a great bargin. Provisioning would be a little more difficult.

Great location, 2015-03-11
Captain: , Dillon (163)

This state facility is fairly new, but is getting tired already. Loose pilings, nice concrete docks. Showers are good configuration is strange. Bathrooms are kinda of sketchy on cleanliness. Laundry is 2 washers 2/ dryers $2 for each! No folding table, no coin machine and office has no change. The water here is full of garbage. The people that work here are not boaters, gas pumps are broke. Tommy the dockmaster is awesome!! Try and ask for him when you call because trying to talk to others is extremely hard!
For getting to airport, busses etc, is is great also!

A good place to stopover, 2015-02-19
Captain: , Johns Creek, GA (228)

We spent 4 nights here to escape the blow, equalize my batteries, and to take a generator break. Great price, easy bus access to Miami Beach/Lincoln Rd. Had good pizza delivered (Pizza Delight). Showers and bathrooms in decent shape. Laundry was good with newer machines@$2 ea. Recent upgrades include new power pedestals. Plenty of parking. Downside is: you must go to the fuel dock for a pumpout; don't expect any help docking.

Bus tip 1: Do not ride back from Miami Beach at rush hour. Tip 2: There is usually a following bus that is much less crowded.

Good marina and staff 2015 Jan13-14, 2015-01-23
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1054)

There are six Miami-Dade Park Marinas like this one which are nice, friendly, a good stay, affordable, and working to improve their offering. Pump-out systems have been a problem. However, in 2015 all six marinas are scheduled with funding for new pump-out systems to be installed that will also tell the boater how much waste is removed.

Improvements nearing completion, 2014-12-24
Captain: , Havre de Grace, MD (244)

We selected this for the good price for a one month stay in a slip. New offices, laundry, heads and showers, but with sketchy maintanence. New power pedestals complete at transient slips, but not yet finished on the last B dock, which makes space tight as the regulars are moved around. Those docks have card access gates, but not at transient slips. 24 hr security, and home to a Miami Dade fire station with fire boat. Helpful staff, especially Dockmaster Tommy.

Best Value in Miami, 2013-11-12
Captain: , Melbourne, FL (124)

Stopped for three days to wait out weather. 7' approach at two hours after low tide. Slips are OK up to 13 ft. beam, only 30A power available in transient slips. Ask for C dock or north wall-some have 50A. Marina has nbew facilities, showers, laundry, fuel dock. No wifi yet but good ATT signal. Bus stops in front, 15 min. to north Miami beach with groceries, restaurants, etc.

Value - if you have to stay longer, 2013-02-19
Captain: , Bear DE (694)

Transinient Slips are located on A Dock, the price is right if you have to stay a longer time. We stayed here for 5 days waiting for better weather. This marina is not monitoring Ch 16 right now because they have a new Office and no Radio. Bathrooms are nice and clean - but there is no WiFi available. We could not get one unsecured Network with our 7 mile System. The fixed slips are a bit tight for a 14ft beam. The Bus Stop is right in front of the Marina - but after using the bus once - we deceided for a cab. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Pelican Harbor Marina, 2012-12-31
Captain: , Hurricane, WV (252)

There is a 50 amp service on a few slips. Most are 30 amp. C-14 has 50 amp in the adjacent side that is unused by the livaboard boat that occupies the slip.
This is a nice marina with nice facilities. Dock master is helpful. He talked us through the entrance and met us at the slip.
Heading South, pass green 25 and line up with the house with green awning on the west and the big yellow marina building on the east. Leave e fuel dock to starboard or you will be in skinny water. W came at low low tide and had no problems with 5 ft of draft.

matter of amperage, 2012-04-23
Captain: , miami river (10)

Nice place, nice people, nice rates, but max 30 amp on april 23 rd 2012.

Decided to try, 2012-01-22
Captain: , Reedville, VA (689)

Based on the reviews we decided to try it. Just North of the 79th Causeway Bridge is a house with green awnings. Turn East keeping the house on your stern. Six feet at low tide to marina. Staff helpful in docking. Found the slip to be a little short for our 43 ft. but springs took care of it. New facilities. Bath/Showers and laundry. Boat US discount no longer available but the electric is included. As previously stated, the place is a gem. The buss stops at the marina.

Pellican Harbor Marina, 2012-01-04
Captain: , Oriental, NC (10)

This marina is appropriately named--I have never seen so many pellicans in my life--they flew in continuously, in big flocks-a joy to watch.

Fuel prices are fair, docking is super cheap but nothing fancy., 2012-01-04
Captain: , St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (404)

The fuel prices are nothing special, just a little bit better than nearby Haulover Marina prices but still higher than nearby Keystone marina prices. $5 for pump out. Staff are friendly considering they are government employees, but you can tell they know they will get paid and have a job regardless of if business is good or not, and they can't get fired.

The docking is nothing fancy, but cute and quaint and to me that makes it special. There is a pelican sanctuary for injured pelicans there and when they are healed and released to the wild, they tend to still hang around looking for a free meal, lol... So there is lots of pelican poop, but the birds make it interesting and are all part of its quaint charm. If you want "fancy" go spend $3 per foot at Bayside, but if you want something different and very cheap, then give this a try.

good stop- good price, 2011-12-24
Captain: , jackson, TN (884)

Friendly staff that talks you in the unmarked channel on the VHF. Docks have short finger piers, but staff helps you dock. Pulblic buses to beach and other attractions. No more Boat US. $1.25 per foot is cheap compared to most marinas at 2 and 3 dollars. Diesel usually competitive for area marinas. Very protected. Quiet. Security guard at night. Seabird rescue station sometimes creates a little smell.

Hidden Gem, 2011-03-15
Captain: , Pelican Harbor (33)

Stopped here after a long trip from the Keys. Fuel Prices were really competative. Staff was very attentive and sold us to stay the night. Yes, there was expresso in the morning; thanks Tommy, what a surpise. Didn' know about the place but I know I'll be back.

Pelican Harbor Marina, 2011-03-10
Captain: , Private Dock (30)

Stayed here on 25, 26 and 27 Feb. A weekend and help was short.
This is a County / City run marina and is currently being updated andimproved. Slips are just O K and power and water are available.
Buses run on thhe 79th street causeway and you can get to
all the beaches and shopping. Seniors ride for $1.00.
The slip fees are reasonable and for Boat U. S. members it's
$1.00'. Once we finally got settled in our slip things got better
and we enjoyed our stay. Call ahead for reservations and give
them a heads up befor you arrive. I would stay here again.

OK Fuel Stop, 2011-01-02
Captain: , Oriental, NC (136)

Only stopped for fuel but staff was most courteous & helpful with vhf directions to fuel dock and assistance tying up / fueling. Even gave us free expresso.

Not so Good, 2010-03-06
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

First off, NO ONE will help you dock, 2nd, there are no markers, 3rd the bird center it there, and it stinks, 4th, I don't think I have ever felt so in secure, and 5th, the docks suck, and 6th,I would rather anchor out.

nuff said??
