Reviews for Pelican's Perch Marina and Boatyard
might want to keep moving away from this one!!, 2017-07-31
Captain: , Pensacola (20)

first off..the people working this boatyard/marina are doing the best with what little they are given to work with..thus the 2 stars..on the othe hand the owner might want to consider terminating the so called management company..while the boatyard has a fairly new lift the electricity and air are not very relieable..the marina docks are beyond repair to the point of being a liability, dock water is fouled with algea, electricity is words if you want a 3rd world experience before you head South this one is for you..otherwise keep moving!!

Recent Haul Out and Maintenance, 2017-04-06
Captain: , Perdidio Key, FL (10)

Everyone at the yard is friendly, helpful and professional. I hauled out and had a bottom job, new cutlass bearings, repacked shaft logs and wax hull by the yard. New transducers were self installed along with a new swim ladder. The entire staff is welcoming and you feel no pressure to use or not use their services. This will definitely be my new hometown boat yard of choice at a distance of 18NM even though I have several other yards within 5NM of my house.

Fantastic Staff!, 2015-11-25

Update, 11/24/15: once again had the boat hauled, this time for an engine repair. As we have come to expect, the stafee was first-rate. They take customer service to a whole new level. I would recommend this to anyone needing their services.

Spent a long weekend here having the boat hauled for routine maintenance. The staff was hands down the most helpful and friendly I have ever encountered. Facilities were adequate. Plenty of depth all the way in (Late June), even at low tide. We didnt get to experience the docks, but the yard and staff were very very good. Will definitely be back.

great place to repair your boat, 2015-04-20

Great Boatyard!, 2015-02-07
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (20)

We had our boat at Pelican Perch Marina for 1 1/2 years after purchase. Had the boat rewired, bottom job done, and engine work done. The office and yard staff are great, and very knowledgable! We were complete novices, and everyone was so helpful. The yard supervisor, David, was great to keep eye on our boat when we had to leave town for a month due to a death in the family. And he knows just about everything about boats that you could need. Also one of the marina's on site contractors, Chip of Mariner Marine, is a wizard with diesel engines...saved our bacon several times! Had a new bimini top made by Island Canvas (great job), on site. And a new bowrail made and installed by the shop on site! If you need ANY kind of work done, this is the place in Pensacola! All of this at very reasonable rates!
But this is not a resort style marina, it is a working boatyard, so don't expect swimming pools or clubhouses. The neighboorhood is a bit sketchy, but we never had any trouble. The restrooms/showers need remodel, but are useable. The docks are rough, but are being slowly replaced.
Overall, we had a great experience here, and made some fantastic friends!

Great Boatyard, 2015-02-04

We have been in a lot of boatyards in our 30+ years on the water and I have to say that my experience here at Pelican's Perch ranks up at the top. It is small enough to be able to have that personal family-like atmosphere while still providing the professional services needed. Prices are excellent. The yard has a basic ships store with items you might need at reasonable prices and Bill is eager to add wanted items to their stock. Patsy Stokes, the office manager made me feel as though we were long time customers from the first time I spoke with her on the phone. Bill Guttmann, sales and marketing specialist was professional and there to help in any way possible whether it was helping us find contractors that could provide services that we needed to finding a laundry close by. David Hairelson, the yard supervisor, has a wealth of experience and was always available, helpful and did a superb job with the yard's NEW 50 ton travel lift. (This might have been the first time I wasn't nervous when having a boat hauled out.) Danny was a big help and a life saver. There are many onsite licensed and insured contractors and contractors that serve the yard with services such as fiberglass work, electronics and systems troubleshooting, fabricating, painting, detailing, canvas work, mechanical and general maintenance, rigging, and sail repair. Chip McFeron, one of the yards contractors, was fast, professional, and reasonably priced when he replaced a cutlass bearing and switched out our prop. Keith Swank, ships carpenter, helped us to procure some teak...I only regret that we weren't here longer for him to do some wood repairs for us. DJ with Zern Rigging, another contractor, was promp and efficient. We would highly recommend this yard and intend on returning whenever it is possible and we are in the states.

Lift is down for maintenance, 2013-09-28
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (408)

I needed a lift to change a seacock attached to a through hull and was told their lift is down. I was also told that they are getting a new 'state of the art' lift in December, 2013. The old lift cannot lift my 46 Beneteau high enough to clear the seawall due to interference with the forestay or backstays.

Great people, cheap prices, bad neighborhood, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Pensacola at Pelicans Perch Marina (70)

Had to haul out for repair and bottom job. 200 for haul out and return and 3 days on the hard. 15 bucks a day if you went past 3. The staff there knows everything or knows someone that does. Well worth the savings.

Friendly people., 2013-01-09
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (1178)

The price is the cheapest in town though and the people are very friendly. They have a 50 ton travel-lift and a great working yard for repairs.

Haul out Services, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Pensacola (142)

I had a haul out here for an urgent Thru Hull replacement. Used Patriot Yacht Services. Tom is one of the yard Contractors. Did a fantastic job and got me back in the water. Haul out cost me 315.00 and you get 5 days free. The haul out crew know what they are doing. Haul out slip is a little tricky to get into at low tide.

Great DIY Yard, 2012-06-28
Captain: , Reedville, VA (689)

This isn't your yacht club but if you need a haul out, this is a great DIY yard. As previously stated, the staff couldn't be more accommodating. There is a mechanic who works on site and comes highly recommended. We left the boat on the hard while we went home to take care of business. Got a good deal on bottom paint and painting.

DYI Yard and Lift, 2012-02-01
Captain: , Poteau, OK (289)

I used this facility in 2009 and they were just finishing up a re-vamp of the DYI yard. They splashed my boat and did a great job and were friendly and courteous.

Panhandle Bottom Cleaners, 2012-01-21
Captain: , Eagle Harbor, WA (471)

We needed to have our rudder and keel inspected due to running aground in the ICW. The Panhandle Bottom cleaners were referred to us by the Palafax Marina Harbor Master as the most reliable in the area. A crew of three showed up at the appointed time at our slip in Palafax harbor. They included a video of the entire keel and rudder to assist in the inspection. They were professional and reasonable. $100 for the inspection/survey and $15 to put on a new zinc. Jeff & Cathy Noble @ 850-380-9321

Very nice staff but lacking in dockage, 2010-04-12
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (998)

The folks running this marina are world class. Most of the floating docks do not have power or water. Some piling slips need repair and/or replacement otherwise this is a very reasonably priced stop.

Pretty darn good, 2008-01-20
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (3)

I had my boat put into the water at this marina and docked there for a few months. From the moment I got there to the moment I left, I was treated nicely. Price was good compared to other local prices. They were in the process of rebuilding at the time. some of their facilities were out due to hurricane Ivan and remodeling and a change in management, however, just in the few months I was there I saw major changes including the switch from simple porta-potties to a trailer with real bathrooms. It's not the yacht club, but everyone is nice.
