Reviews for Peggy's On the Bayou
Great Little Place, 2017-02-02

Wonderful people run this place! We were unable to dock in the marina as our catamarn wouldn't fit (18.5ft beam) with no maneuvering room. However, Peggy's husband (Bill?) had us tie up next to a house barge at the entrance. We talked with the owner and he was happy to have us there. Food at Peggy's is great and they will bend over backwards to help you any way the can. They treat you like family from the moment you show up!!!

if you are a yacht club snob this may not be the place for you. As for the rest of us, if you want to meet some of the nicest folks around making the best food on the icw this is the place. call ahead and ask Peggy to make some Cajun nachos. you won't regret it. gas and ice are available. diesel requires fuel jugs and a trip to town about 2 miles (Richard frequently gives cruisers a ride ) free wifi. no laundry facilities. Overall a great place to stop. We liked it so much we stayed an extra day.

A quiet dock on the back of a bustling restaurant. Very accommodating, and good food to boot. We stayed on a couple extra days, fished from the boat ramp dock (caught shrimp with a net but no fish with the pole), managed the 30A plug with a 35' cord, and otherwise made our selves at home. If you're heading West, there is no better introduction to Texas!

As of August 2013, the swing bridge is due for some maintenance and the road will be closed. Call ahead to make sure they're open. They have another restaurant 6 miles up the road to manage too.

Peggy, Richard and Dotie put down probably the finest Cajun cooking we have ever had. They are warm hearted genuine folks. We came in Monday afternoon on a very slow day. They stayed open for us to have dinner. The cafe is BYOB but if your not stocked, Richard will drive you in to the local Walmart if you need. The approach is 9' to 13' all the way up cow bayou. Don't cut the corner coming in to the marina. They were standing on the dock waiting to help us tie up. It's a small dock and power is provided through your adapter to a regular 110 wall outlet. It's not fancy but the people make it just fantastic. We will be back, if you pass it, you will really be missing out.

Yes a must stop., 2012-04-10

A must Stop, 2011-12-20

Arrived Dec. 20-2011. This place was not on any of the charts or waterway Guides....A charm of a place and was suggested by the CG. We had a electrical problem that caused the complete lose of our running lights and batteries were getting very low after having to anchor out last night. We called and Richard went out of his way to assist us in getting in. The main channel of Cow Bayou is 15 ft and approch to Peggy's can be shallow after a Northernier blows through. This place was destroyed after being hit both by Rita and Ike but is making a come back. Richard and his sister and his wife went out of his way to get us to Wall Mart anf to get fuel.
30 amp is all they have right now so be sure to have a pigtail for 30 to 110.

The food at Peggy's was some of the best Cajun food I have had in a long time. The Hamburgers were to die for. So for a sail boa that was in a bind...Peggys on the Bayou was a life saver.
