Reviews for Pebble Isle Marina
A Must Stop Marina, 2016-10-22
Captain: , Charleston, SC (180)

Spent only one night, but wished we could stay longer. Randy and Tammy are wonderful hosts. They treated us like family. The facility is in good shape. A family owned marina, not a resort. They serve cinnamon rolls for breakfest. They will also share a fantastic french toast recipe using the rolls. A must stop.

Great stop over, 2016-10-19
Captain: , Eagle (101)

Very skinny with circuitous route to get in. Great history in near by museum and park. Very available and nice courtesy car. Very nice people, restaurant open only weekends this season. steep walk to toilets/showers. Dog friendly.

Nice Location, 2016-10-15
Captain: , Long Island, NY (204)

Good location. Transient boats generally on a long finger dock. Coffee and cinnamon buns made for a pleasant morning. Friendly staff. Long and somewhat steep ramp up to parking/ dog walk area at current (October) water levels. Very pretty area.

Good Marina, 2016-10-15
Captain: , North Point Marina (40)

Plenty of water w/ our 5' draft, good docks, good restaraunt and very helpful at the fuel dock

Get the cinnamon buns!, 2016-10-13
Captain: , Portsmouth (352)

We paid $2.19/gallon for diesel. They make fresh cinnamon buns daily except Sundays as the restaurant does breakfast Sundays. They made an exception for the Loopers this time and made a batch of buns for us. Take a walk in the National park just above the Marina, there are several markets trails to explore. Marina staff was extremely friendly.

Very Friendly, Hospitable, Accommodating and Relaxing, 2016-10-04
Captain: , Mystic, CT (180)

Super friendly owners and marina staff. Went out of their way to get their mechanic to take a look at a peculiar noise from our engine. Turns out problem was an idler pulley bearing that needed replacing. (Could have been a major problem had it failed) Diagnosed the problem, drove to Nashville to get the part and installed it all within a 30 hour period. Price for the work was competitive. Dock staff keeps you laughing %u2013 much enjoyed the cheerful nature. Complimentary coffee and fresh cinnamon buns in the morning. Courtesy car(s). Groceries and Dollar Value store nearby. State park across the street %u2013 great walking as well as historical. Marina facilities are basic and clean. Laundry. Docks in excellent condition. Strong Wi-Fi on the transient dock. Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful spot in the Tennessee Valley. Great facility for layover or stop.

Wonderful Service, 2016-10-01
Captain: , Chicago (40)

We pulled into Pebble Isle towards the end of the day 9/30/2016. We had called ahead for a reservation and needing fuel. We hold a lot of fuel and are on the larger side of the loop and they were able to accomodate. We pulled in with another boat and they put us on the high volume pump right away. The owner came out to help along with another gentleman and both were very polite, friendly and helpful. The other gentleman then met us at the dock to tie up. He offered to help with shore power as well.

We had dinner at the Grey Heron Grill with our two daughters. The staff was equally pleasant and the food was good. Prime Rib special last night and tasty margaritas.

As everyone has said the cinnamon rolls are not to be missed. We popped in early as they were coming out of the oven. They promptly brought four rolls over and offered the girls hot chocolate. Best breakfast they've had since we left home 5 weeks ago! We chatted with a few other loopers and the owner and the same gentleman who helped the night before. I talked about home schooling with him.

We did not need the bathroom or shower facilities so I can't comment on those but our experience was notch people, good food, made us feel welcome and thanked us for stopping in.

Trying to be objective (3.5 stars), 2016-09-26
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2465)

Here is our "granulated" review:
5 stars - nice owners, cinnamon buns, Billy's tales of life on the river, diesel fuel price
4 stars - courtesy van, stable 120V power
3 stars - docks and laundry
2 stars - quality, convenience, and cleanliness of showers

Nice friendly spot, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (230)

Easy dockage; met at dock by Randy, the owner. As previous reviewers have said, everyone was very friendly. Had dinner at the marina grille - nothing fancy - large portions. The cinnamon rolls lived up to the hype. Diesel price was 40 cents less than GTB (25 cents difference with the GTB looper discount).
Basic marina - not a resort but cinnamon rolls and friendliness of everyone make it worth 5 stars.

Great marina and fuel prices, 2016-09-20
Captain: , Huntington Harbour, CA (317)

Very nice and clean marina. Nice owners. And, well, the cinnamon rolls alone are worth the stop. But, they also had the lowest price on fuel that we have seen in the area. Restaurant is good. They put the transients together so many opportunites to meet fellow travelers. Enjoyed our stay.

Easy in and out, 2016-09-19
Captain: , Anna Maria Island (462)

We have always enjoyed our stay here. Easy well marked entry (we draw 5.5) Fuel dock and transit dock are both side tie with plenty of depth. The staff is helpful, resturant on site with really good food. The owners are there most of the time and do a wonderful job maintaining and adding things to the site.

Nice facility and cheap diesel, 2016-09-15
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

If you are going onto to Green Turtle Bay or going up river to Pickwick, fill up here. Cheapest diesel in the are by 25 cents a galloon. Marina is nice as well with restaurant has been redone and is cute. Fun is great and they have a liquor license. Be sure to split their chocolate chip desert (hugh) with your favorite other. Very nice civil war museum nearby that covers the Tennesee River. Also covers Nathan Beford Forest's raid on Johnsville. it was the only time in military history where a calvary unit defeat a navy unit. Very interesting.

Stayed two nights 10/17/15 Then left our boat here 10 days 10/22/15-11/02/15 Great Stop (10-17-15), 2015-11-04
Captain: , Southport, NC (637)

We stayed Oct 17 & 18 2015. Great Staff. Well Maintained, Good docks, Good Resturant. Easy provisioning via courtesy van. They are in the process of upgrading shower and laundry facilities. Great walking access to Old Johnsonville Park with hiking trail and Civil War History. Went home to Missouri for the birth of our grandson and staff was super helpful getting us to our rental car and out the door for home. They took great care of our boat and even watered my tomatoes and basil plants while we were away! Great cinnamon rolls every morning with coffee. Fantastic owners and staff...can't say enough about it!

This place has my vote for the friendlies marina anywhere! What people who make you feel like family. They also had exchange tanks for propane saving me a trip. We used their courtesy van to go to the nearby Walmart

Southern Hospitality at its best, 2015-10-08
Captain: , Brightlingsea UK (20)

Excellent stop between Green Turtle Bay and Pickwick Lock in beautiful, protected bay. We planned to stay here for three nights, ended up staying over a week! Nothing is too much trouble for Randy, Tammy and their staff. Free coffee and cinnamon buns for breakfast daily; we were thinking of press-ganging Billy so we could have them after we left. Discounted fuel prices - gas $3.19/gal, diesel $2.54/gal. Clean showers and toilets, washing machine and dryer $1.25 to wash, $1.00 to dry. Courtesy car for trips to Walmart and nearby attractions Johnsonville State Park Visitor Centre and Lorretta Lynn's Ranch. Plenty of open space to walk dogs. Hard to tear ourselves away.

Excellent stop, lots of loopers, 2015-10-06
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Tammy and Randy the owners run a great operation. They will do anything to help u out. Lowest fuel price so far on loop, $2.55 for diesel!
$1/ft overnight. Courtesy car, free oil disposal,Napa store 2 miles if needed. Had a great steak dinner and fried cat fish, all good. Near many interesting places. No place has been more accommodating on our loop.

most stop must stop, 2015-10-02

Tammy and Randy make you feel at home. Great cinnamon rolls in th morning. the food in the restaurant is great and priced right. The fuel price is very low. The marina is very well maintained. What a great stop.

Pebble Isle Marina (MM96), 2015-10-02
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (748)

Pebble Isle Marina (MM 96) has been a highlight of the trip for us. Tammy and Randy are the owners, Billy is an amazing dock assistant, and the whole staff made us feel at home. Hot cinnamon rolls and coffee are served as a courtesy breakfast in the mornings. The aroma, atmosphere, and strong coffee coaxed even the non-morning people out of bed and provided a quiet, relaxed environment to get to know people we had only previously known by boat names. They charge $1 per foot and also had the best diesel price in town at 2.57 gal. The Civil War historic site and museum is worth a few hours and provides an easy walking trail as well as more rugged technical trails, too. We borrowed the courtesy car and found the crash site of Patsy Cline. Others visited Loretta's Lynn's ranch. There was quite a bit to do at this intimate, family-owned and run marina. We are happy to recommend a stay there.

Great Service an to Die for Cinnamon Buns!, 2015-10-01
Captain: , Milwaukee, Wisconsin (60)

As Loopers we got the royal treatment...a Loopers Docktail party with appetizers, cinnamon buns in the morning and they opened the restaurant in the evening if there were enough people that were interested. There is a courtesy car available with access for groceries and the Loretta Lynn Museum and Ranch which is worth a visit even if you Aren't a country music fan. Only downside was wifi & cell coverage is spotty, but that could be us as we don't have any boosters. Overall very nice stay!

Outstanding!, 2015-09-16
Captain: , Illinois (2422)

We love this Marina!
Thanks Randy, Tammy and Billy!
You all helped us so much and made us feel like old friends.
Their restaurant had a great menu and the food was simply outstanding.
Our good experience started right from the tie up. Billy assisted and checked us in.
He told us about the coffee and cinnamon rolls in the morning.
Our night was quiet and restful.
Our great experience continued with meeting Randy and Tammy the next morning. They helped us locate a new phone battery and loaned us the courtesy van.
We hope to return soon.

Billy Is the Man Great Stop, 2014-11-02
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

Interesting entrance but well marked. Stay in their channel. Billy
received our lines. Placed us alongside and back in anticipation of a Forecasted Cold Front with 30 mph winds, which he bought to our immediate attention on arrival. He was right! Two days of a weather layover with 28-30 MPh Winds from the NNW. Had his delicious cinnamon rolls. Had a good weather layover and attended 150th Anniversary Re-enactment of the Battle of Johnsonville at the state park next door. Billy offered to Fuel us up at 5 A.M. so we could get an early start to Clifton. We enjoyed our stay the staff goes the extra mile to make you feel right at home.

The very best of marinas, 2014-10-18
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (626)

What can you say to best describe this marina. It is the little things that make this marina stand out. The owners Tammy and Randy will do anything to make your stay the best possible. They are 'gems'! If want to hear a funny story just get Billy talking. As for the cinnom rolls .....we shouldn't have but we did.......

Special morning treat, 2014-10-11
Captain: , Russellville, AR (133)

OK - Mr. Billy prepares free cinnamon rolls every morning. Gotta try some. On site restaurant was very good, but a bit pricey. Would go back though! Interesting civil war stuff nearby. Would recommend a stay.

Fantastic service, 2014-10-10
Captain: , Belleville, Ontario (400)

We can%u2019t say enough about how owners Randy and Tammy have catered to our stay.
By opening the restaurant one night to accommodate the loopers to a 5 o%u2019clock happy hour appetizer spread the next when the restaurant was closed. The food was fantastic, catfish being the meal of choice for a many.
Courtesy van available with a Walmart not too far away or an IGA with a reasonable meat selection in the other direction.
The facility is clean and very well run with a great staff.
Don%u2019t leave without getting a free cup of coffee and a straight out of the oven cinnamon roll from Billy.
Depths are adequate for up to 5 foot draft as an 85 footer stopped in for a night.

Great place to make a regular stop, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Very accomodating. Owners did everything they could to help with anything that was needed.
Had a little problem with the generator and the mechanic was at the boat a bout an hour after we arrived.
Owners called in cook and staff for the diner hour and when we stayed an extra day due to weather offered free snacks at 5:30PM
Snacks included, veggies, best hush puppies I'ver eaten, catfish bites, deep fried chicken nuggets, mushrooms, pickels, and more.
and in the mornings cinnamon rolls and coffee.
Best gas prices I've seen in a long time.
Will make it a regular stop when we travel by again.

Pebble Isle is so accomodating!, 2014-10-06
Captain: , Bay Point Marina, Marblehead, OH (180)

We stopped at Pebble Isle today which in our opinion is a great marina. With the Boat US discount diesel fuel was $3.87/gal so we filled it up! The manager decided that since there were so many Loopers that he would either offer to open up the restaurant (usually closed on Sunday) or have horderves for everyone at happy hour on the dock! My wife, Paula, assumed the duties of social director and took a poll of all the Loopers and it was decided to have the restaurant open. They did that and we were treated royally! They even gave us a side bowl of bean soup in additon to our ordered meal along with extra hush puppies! The staff is great! First class act this Pebble Isle. Glad we stopped!

Family-owned, great hospitality, 2014-10-05
Captain: , Ludington (100)

Patriot - Ludington, Michigan
Owners and employees are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Some boating supplies available, service department, small boutique and an excellent restaurant. Fuel and slip fees were the most reasonable we have seen. Courtesy car and laundry available. WalMart about 8 miles away. Coffee and cinnamon rolls provided for boaters each morning, at no cost. Definitely recommend this welcoming family-owned marina!

Great service, 2014-10-02

Very nice setting, 2014-09-29

Great stop, 2014-09-19
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

Very clean facility with a freindly staff. Lowest fuel price in the area. Restaurant is very good. Courtesy car available. Protected from all directions. We will be back.

Good prices...but, 2014-09-18
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2153)

We stopped for the excellent fuel prices and reasonable dock rates. Had lunch at their grill - great food and very nice folks. Took the courtesy van to Walmart. But, we also had a couple loads of laundry to do - it's a 200 yard walk (no exageration) to the one washer & one dryer. The dryer will take a minimum of two cycles to get a regular load dry. When informed of the problem the management acknowledged that it's been a problem for a while but apparantly didn't warrant getting it fixed. So....if you need laundry, think twice - other than that it's got everything you want.

Super People!!, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Paducah KY (183)

Have stopped here many times as they are extremely nice and go the extra mile. Food at the resturant is excellent. Called ahead on one trip because we were going to be arriving about 8:30 and they stayed so we could get fuel and leave at day light the next morning.
They reallly do go the extra mile.

very friendly/cheapest non-ethanol fuel for miles, 2014-08-17

Good place to stay when traveling. Courtesy car was available to go to eat, Civil War Museum or Battlefield. Unfortunately the deli was closed when we were there which was on a Tuesday. Discount on fuel for BoatUS members.

Comments below are all true - Randy, Tammy & Billy make you feel welcome and will do whatever they can to assist you. Called ahead as we entered the channel and Randy & Billy were there to catch our lines, we would stay here again.

Excellent place to stay, 2013-10-19
Captain: , Fort Smith Arkansas (131)

Entry is very narow in some places but well marked. Be alert and take no short cuts as some areas are extremely shallow on the way in docks. Friendly folks, 50 amp service available. Cell service weak but by changing position of phone can be improved. Diesel with supplement at reasonable price. Courtesy van. Have been here several times and would stay again.

Great Service and Marina, 2013-10-14
Captain: , Grand Rivers, KY (45)

We stopped there on 10-11-13 and they met us at the dock and were very friendly. We had an excellant dinner at the restaurant and they only charged me based on my 36 foot length, even though I had my mast down and was 50 feet. They had hot, home made cinamon rolls as a complimentary breakfast before we left. Real down home service! We'll stop here again on our way back North.

Pebble Isle, 2013-09-30
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Stayed at end of Sept 2013. Great couple of days. Everyone helpful, depths as noted.
The new visitor center nearby is great. It explains the Battle of Johnsonville. It includes a video and explanation about the Civil War tactics during the capture of Tennessee by the Union.

GREAT PLACE!, 2013-09-28
Captain: , Burnt Store Marina (70)

Well-marked channel into protected cove off the main river. Very friendly staff and restaurant with out door seating. Boat US discount and a loaner car. We had to make an emergency trip to the local hospital while there due to a head wound that needed stitches. Marina had their young chef drive us to and from the hospital. They couldn't have been
more helpful.

Great marina, 2013-09-09
Captain: , Port Sheldon (411)

Very clean and welll protected marina. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was great. From getting us cinnamon rolls before "looper season" to calling around and finding a new hose for our propane grill.

Well protected, 2013-03-24
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

A nice marina although we were only there less than 12 hours. Watch your depths and hug the upon entering there are a couple of shallow spots so hug the greens.
Will stop by again staff were very nice on the phone we never did meet.

Nice marina and On Site Technician, 2012-11-17
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1696)

Very nice marina with loaner car and nice facilities.
The reason for the five star rating is that they have an on site technician at the marina rather than having to call one in. On this occasion this was important in that we had a small repair to the sea water pump that needed to be done. They also had parts, but I think this was just a useful happenstance. Randy and Tammy were terrific and Barrett, the technician, was on the ball and did the job right.
Waverly TN is not much of a stop but there is a Walmart and a few sundry stores.
Don't sweat the channel coming in. Its a bit narrow but deep. We saw 8 feet of water under our keel.
Its a good stop.

Home away from home!, 2012-10-13
Captain: , Kuttawa Kentucky (410)

Bob & Sally Thompson was right. This is one great place to stay. Randy & Tammy sure make you feel you are at home. Food is excellent, staff are friendly and are eager to assist in anyway.
Thanks Jacob for driving me to Rental Car, great conversation on the way. Will stay here again coming back home.. Oh I forgot when you are here you are at home.. :O)

Southern Hospitality at its finest, 2012-10-12
Captain: , New Zealand (1087)

Stayed here 3 days and were very sorry to leave. Tammy and Randy are super people and made us feel like guests in their house rather than transient Loopers. I needed some parts for my engines and Randy organised them for overnight delivery and at a price that was the same as the best I could get online. The loaned satteliite TV instead of cable is a great extra for those that don't have sattelite. Excellent food at the restaurant....courtesy car....brilliant service....what more could you want. A must stop for Loopers

Great helpful people and services, 2012-10-05
Captain: , Spring Lake, MI (379)

We enjoyed the marina, nearby Johnson Battlefield Visitors Center and State Park, loaner car to Walmart and hot rolls and coffee. Tammy is just as nice and helpful and you can ask for, offering river travel advice, a DVD and brochures. My only minor complaint is that the WiFi is weak at the transcient dock.

Stopped for a while...Stayed two years., 2012-10-03
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (11)

We had stopped there in 2004 while heading south from Lake MI. We continued to stop there in subsequent years on our annual trips back and forth. We got to know the owners very well and have been there for two years now while getting things in order. Great food in the restaurant. Free coffe and cinnamon rolls in the morning for loopers and all-round great hospitality. We will be heading south in mid October 2012 and will miss owners Randy and Tammy.

Great Kentucky Lake stop cheap fuel, 2012-05-18
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

These folks are generous and warm hearted as they come. They'll help you in anyway possible. The nice floating docks and the restaurant serves very good food albeit a limited menu. Fuel was the cheapest we could find on the river so far. This is a good reach from GTB for a trawler. Just wish the Wifi could reach the boats. Seems to be in spot inside the office that is shielding signal to the transient docks. Next tor or inside the restaurant very strong.

Good Stop on The Tennessee, 2011-11-14
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

Agree with other posts on staff and facilities, except:
A negative - one, old washer/dryer, behind the men's room door, a quarter mile up a hill from the docks. If you have multiple loads of clothes, you will spend most of the day and get more excercise than you need.
Two Positives -- 1) a very nice courtesy car 2) the small local grocery has great meats at the most reasonbale prices. We are glad we stocked the freezer when we stopped.

A great stop, 2011-11-04
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

Stayed here in 2011 and it was very very good. The staff and owners go out of their way to please. They put on a great dinner for ten of us with lots of very good food. Facilities are very good and well maintained. Good courtesy car and Walmart in Waverly. Will stop here again.

Great staff, quiet night, 2011-10-16
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

We were greeted by several staff as we came off the channel to the fuel dock, someone also there to help tie off at our slip. Bathrooms/showers a little far from the docks but that was no issue. Everyone from the manager/owner to wait staff at the restaurant very friendly and helpful. Docks in great shape, didn't see a single loose cleat. Ask them about the steel twin keel sailboat at the drive up entrance.

Very nice, 2011-10-08
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

Well protected harbor from all winds. Great and friendly staff. The cheapest fuel we have seen on the Tennessee, so we topped off. The restaurant on the dock is great with free coffe and rolls in the morning. The desserts prepared each day fresh and sinful. You should not miss this marina.

We glad we picked this marina stop, 2011-09-27
Captain: , Marthas Vineyard (506)

You won't find nicer people anywhere -- easy access to this marina on well marked channel in a beautiful little harbor, easy-access transient pier --the owners Randy and Tammy have obviously put a lot of effort into this marina, they have a good stock of various supplies at the central pier as well as a small restaurant. We were able to take a hike in the abutting state park, getting some much needed exercise; they have a courtesy car for doing errands if you need it. You won't be sorry you stopped here.

The example for other marinas, 2011-08-09
Captain: , Harrison, TN (71)

We have stayed at Peeble Isle on six occasions, multiple nights each time. Randy & Tammy always go out of their way to make us feel at home. Neat, clean resturant/store - food always delicious. This is a "Favorite Stop" as we run that portion of the TN River.

Good stop for a night or good place to store boat., 2011-06-15
Captain: , Memphis TN (977)

June 2011, third stop, always satisfied with service.

The owners Mrs. & Mr. Ashworth are curteous and you can rest asured that they will do the utmost to serve you. We left our boat Trusty III for 5 weeks there and also had some mechanical work done and the bill was quite reasonable. The use of there courtesy van saved us a lot of headaches to go and return our rented cars in Clarksville. It is a must stop for any loopers or people travelling South, not to forget to try out their restaurant.

Pretty pricey for the area. But they have a courtesy car, cheap fuel and pretty good food at the restaurant. much of the transient dock is exposed to the prevailing west wind. Showers are only fair and a quarter mile from the dock.

Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Nice marina, helpful staff and a courtesy car.

Only down side is the well marked long and winding channel in. The channel is fine, but the bass boats that want to fish in the channel as you are bearing down on them get a little stressful.
