It is recommended that you approach on the east side due to shoaling on the west entrance.

As of 10/2013, the western approach carried 5 feet in a narrow approach. the eastern approach carries 7.5 feet and is wider. Beware of new fishing reefs one mile south and 0.8 miles east of the harbor entrance. Broken concrete reefs are built on existing shoals and extend just above the high water mark. Also note there are many poles marking the oyster reefs south of the western approach to the harbor in eight-foot depths.

Reviews for Pass Christian Harbor
Not really for pleasure craft, 2015-11-26
Captain: , Beaver Island, MI (291)

First to clear up some confusion and some error in a previous review. Both entrances are Pass Christian Harbor, it's just that they built a new harbor to the east so they have now the West and the East Harbors. When you call by phone (they don't respond to VHF) they will assighn you to which harbor depending on availablity.

The roll and surge is horrible, so bad in fact we left the boat for a hotel. Now mind you we have sailed around the world and only Ocean World in the DR is worse. This is true with any wind over about 10kts from anything but due north. Also at least one of the "security" guys was a real jerk. Bottom line go to Gulfport or Bay St Louis instead

First in the West basin there are very few docks with finger piers. If you do not have easy access off the stern of your boat you may have significant problems getting off the boat. With south or SE wind the surge is bad. East Basin a bit better
Do not expect any help with lines etc. No one will show, in fact there are no dock hand employees. From West Basin it is a 20-30 min round trip walk to the office to register.
Water depth good from approach from east or west. Never saw less than 9ft at near low tide either direction. Both Navionics and Garmin e-charts are spot on.

Good Rates But Minimal Services, 2015-04-02

First thing to note well is entrance is identical to a second harbor to east. Pass Christian Marina is western-most with Red-4 marker on end of breakwater entry. The path from the south-east has shallows to be aware of and I expect the same is true for the south-west.
Interior is rolly with small craft not observing no-wake courtesies inside and apparent wind action. Plenty of room to enter slips but tying up is a challenge with no finger piers, no cleats, wide spacing on pilings and no dock hands, at least when I pulled in.
Price is great and we were not charged extra for electric. Office is in far north-east corner, we think. Our slip is near breakwater entrance almost furthest walk and security guard checked us in from his truck and brought our receipt back once he got to the office.
It is a day's easy cruise from NOLA and Gulfport/Biloxi and is a welcome addition to a cruising itinerary. If enough boaters use this place showers and wifi may well follow.
Now that I know entrance is on the west side... We will spend a couple of days here while I repair my failed upper helm steering (which made changing harbors a windy/wavy challenge) and enjoy Pass Christian.

Good marina, has an entire new section to the east that doesn't show up on sat photos yet., 2015-03-13

Good rates, good security. Restaurant (Shagg's on site). There are now bathrooms in the new harbor as well as a pump out that is much easier and more convienent to use. The new harbor has a separate entrance from the old harbor and the piers are much more modern and accessible. Still several restaurants and a hardware store withing very short walking distance.

Not great but not many options, 2014-03-11
Captain: , Annapolis (795)

Stayed overnight only to escape the cold. No facilites except water and electric. It is gated and there is 24 staff/security. That is the plus side. Negatives include: no bathouse, silly slip layouts (very hard to get on/off the boat). I'd not go out of my way to stay here, but it is adequate if you need a place to tie up.

Inexpensive Stopover, 2013-12-11
Captain: , Port Aransas (992)

We stayed two nights here to wait for the passing of a cold front. We called as we entered the channel into the harbor and Jennifer was very nice in giving us our choice of slips. However, the slips along the outer wall are probably better for a sport-fisher backing in. With our dinghy on the davits, we needed to nose in and literally had to climb over the bow pulpit to reach the dock. There are no finger piers in most slips, only those built by slip tennants.

Once we were tied up, things were fine. We rode our bikes to Walmart for provisions and there is also a Keith's Superstore convenience store just up the way.

The beaches are nice for a stroll and we had a delicious and warm dinner at Shaggy's. Great sunrises and sunsets from here!

There are no services other than 30 amp electricity and water, with no showers or restrooms, but if you have a wi-fi booster, you can get the password from Shaggy's if you buy something there. The signal was passable from the entrance to the harbor.

We did find cheap fuel ($3.86) across the harbor. Enter the harbor and turn to the right and head for the tall skinny yellowish building. Tie alongside the finger pier. High pressure but they can put it on gravity fill which was just great.

Overall, we were happy with our choice as it was only $21.40 per night. There was no problem with depth getting in, we draw 5.3. the tide was maybe 1-2 ft. current not a problem and good protection from the wind.

Good Marina with Minimal Services, 2013-10-14

Still no restrooms or showers, but also still $21.50. Assistant manager Taco helps with tie-up and drive to temporary office trailer. Good security. Nearby restaurants, groceries, and library in rebuilding town. 30 amp service included. We enjoyed our stay here.

Shagg in to Pass Christian, 2013-08-28
Captain: , Galveston, TX (599)

New Harbor construction going on to the East. Two possible approaches. Both seem usable. We came in from the West. Channel was a constant 8-9 feet of water. We'll leave by the East, which is charted deeper, with fewer hazards along the way.

WiFi available at Shaggy's, the Library across the street behind City Hall, or thru the Yacht Club (if they'll give up the password). Water and power (30A), good fishing at the dock, beaches and playground nearby for the kids. Cat Island is visible from the beach, making it an easy daysail.

Excellent come back story after getting wiped out by Katrina.

We spent one night here at a cost of $21.50.
Food at Shaggys was excellent. Tuna bits appetizer and Fried Fish Bits hit the spot. Local boaters are working to improve the Marina. We felt it was a great value and had a nice stay.

Cheap but nasty, 2011-06-08
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (390)

This has to be one of the nastiest marinas I have ever stayed at. The commercial shrimp boats are constantly pumping sludge from their bilge. There was fecal matter floating in the harbor, I'm assuming again off one of the old commercial boats. While I was docked there my boat developed a dark smudge line all around it. Cheap yes, but to nasty for me unless I need an emergency stop.

Cheap slips $ 21.50 per night but no showers or toilets. Wide slips. Shaggy's Restaurant in harbor is happening place. Quick Mart east corner of marina just that. Walmart closest grocery store 4 miles past Quick Mart at next light. Across road from Quick Mart is Pirate's Cove Restaurant great Po-boy sandwiches. Locals recommend shrimp. Fuel dock by tall beige building. Big fill hoses but cheap diesel when we fueled ($3.10/gal). Go downtown to hardware store, Subway, Liquor store, Pizza place and Mexican Restaurant. Trying hard to rebuild from Katrina.

Captain: , Kemah, TX (188)

We spent 6 days here waiting for two strong cold fronts and a snow storm to pass. Best thing about this marina is the price. Must be around $20.00 a night. There are no restrooms or showers. The water was turned off because of freezing temperatures. They have a pump out but could not find anyone who knew how to turn it on. The harbor is managed by city policeman and all gates are locked so you will end up "locked in". The piers are new but have very short finger piers. There is a Quick Mart a long walk away.

OK, 2009-07-16
Captain: , New Iberia, LA (357)

Tied up for the night recently. Transit slips are very wide and can be tough in a wind to tie up. Odd finger pier, would rather none vs what they have. Quick Mart is a hike from the transit slips, hard to keep ice from melting during the summer on that walk.

On the good side, nice folks and for only $21.50 it was fine. Came if from the east without a problem, headed out west which is ok but you have to watch for shallow areas until you meet the GIWW.

In good shape, 2009-06-26
Captain: , Kentucky (190)

They have rebuit the majority of the harbor - new docks and power poles. Our cost was $21.40. Quickie mart and nice restaurant close by.

Good Stop Over Spot, 2009-03-30
Captain: , Madisonville (87)

Harbor is cleaned up and they have reasonably prices transient slips and fuel.
