Reviews for Panama City Marina
Great marina, friendly and helpful staff, 2017-07-03
Captain: , Titusville, FL (70)

We are staying for 12 days over the July 4th weekend in 2017. So far, very good vibes from the area and the people working at the marina. The only shortcoming involves their broken pump out. We did not find out about it until asking procedure to get it done. It is currently broken and won't be fixed for "some time"! Had I known that, I could have gotten a pump out at Port St. Joe Marina where I gassed up on a day trip. Instead, we had to take the boat over to St. Andrews Marina for a pumpout.

We are staying on the "overflow"dock, pier 4, because the transient dock is full for the holiday. For folks with dogs, this is nearly perfect. There is a field directly off the dock to walk dogs and plenty of grass space within the marina itlself to walk dogs.

Bathrooms are outstanding as has been reported. Could not ask for more accomodating situation, locking doors leave you in your own air conditioned shower, sink and toilet area. Nearly perfect!

Great Service, Excellent Facilities, 2017-06-23
Captain: , Galveston Texas (315)

Full service marina with clean, well maintatined bathhouses and laundry. There is a marina store on site with all the basics. The downtown district terminates at the marina and is a feature of the town. Lot's of tourist visitors and pier fishers, however, all the slips are fenced and locked and there is 24/7 security on site. There are several resturants within waking distance, however, they all close early. There is a very well stocked Dollar General store on the main downtow street that is well within walking distance.

Outstanding Service, 2017-06-17
Captain: , Naples (70)

After cruising from Carabelle to Panama City, we overnighted at the marina. Rick, the dockmaster, took our call in the morning and gave some excellent heads-up info for our trip to Panama City. After arriving, the service we received was outstanding. Butch, the dockhand, came out and helped us tie down. He was very helpful with the local tides and the correct fender placement. We received a great welcome package with local restaurants and shops in the area. The restroom/shower facilities were excellent and very clean. Access to the marina was very easy and protected from the waters in the bay. Overall, one of the best marinas I have overnighted in!!

Excellent staff, 2017-06-11
Captain: , Merritt Island, FL (556)

Stayed here May 12-13, 2017. Old wood docks, poor wind/wave protection, good ship's store, showers and laundry a good walk away, no restaurant.

Very frindly staff, 2017-04-10
Captain: , Rockport, tx (174)

We have stayed here often and enjoyed it every time. The staff and dock hands are very friendly and helpful. the BoatUS discount and the 10c per gallon fuel discount make it very afforadble. The little ships store is great and well stocked, The only drawback is thay havve only two floating docks and they are not always available. Tieing along the long face dock can be chalanging.

Very friendly marina!, 2017-03-24
Captain: , Baton Rouge, LA (82)

Howard and staff are so friendly and nice. We stayed for two nights. Boat/US discount. Free coffee coupons. Great place! Panama City town is pretty run down and there are few bars and restaurants available.

Welcoming Staff nice stay, 2017-03-18
Captain: , Louisville, ky (90)

We stayed here on 3/16/17. Came in at 0900 and were met at the fuel dock by two attendants. Very helpful and made docking In the strong northern wind very easy. It was cold and we all went in for coffee and to warm up. We then refuel and made our way to our assigned slip. Again the wind played a part and the dock hands were great. We were tied up with no major issues. Only issue we had was the cable on dock 6 at the last 3 pedestals did not work.

Great Place and Great Staff, 2017-03-17
Captain: , Kemah Texas (389)

Stayed here for a week while waiting for a couple of couple of cold fronts to pass (with several other transient boats as well). Only knock is the fixed docks, so 4 stars for the marina, but the staff was great! 6 stars for the staff (Thanks Rick!). So it averages out to 5 stars! :)

Laundry is $2.50 for wash, $1.25 for dryers. Great little store that you can go sit in and wait for the laundry to finish (and get a beer!).

Would definitely stop here again.

Nice Place to Hang Out, 2017-02-10
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (415)

We initially ducked in here to avoid a strong weather front and wound up staying for a month to complete some unfinished projects. The staff is great and there is a Dollar General and several resturants within walking distance. Publix, West Marine, and Home Depot are an easy bike ride of under 3 miles each way. Good shelter except from southeast winds which blow directly into the marina. Only reason for the 4 stars is the old fixed height wood docks otherwise a 5-star based on service and location.

Great place to stay, 2017-01-27
Captain: , Winthrop Harbor (130)

We came here after a redeculous price qoute at Lighthouse Marina in Grand Lagoon. We could not have been happier with our choice. The marina staff was great, friendly and helpful. The facilities were well maintained and the bathrooms were very nice. It was close to downtown which had several good resturants. Would stay here again.
We did not buy fuel but the price for docking was just over a $1 per foot. Depth in the entrance was about 13 foot and at the dock 8.

Made our first experience great!, 2017-01-05
Captain: , Daleville, Alabama (66)

Have only great things to say about this marina. Staff was friendly, helpful, and understanding as this was our first overnight in our Hunter 23.5 with our grandson. Cold night in November but outstanding accomodations.

Great place with great staff, 2016-12-05
Captain: , Baltimore (529)

The staff at the dock and in the office were very helpful. When we were there, the fuel prices were the best for hundreds of miles. I would have rated them five star if they had floating docks.

Still a great marina, 2016-12-02
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

12-1-16 Rick was very helpful at our slip and with power arrangements. Changed oil here and they have a recycling tank for waste oil. The only downside is the concrete pilings, they chew up your lines if not protected.

So glad we stopped here, 2016-11-27
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

We stayed 11-07 and 11-08-2016. Marina has excellent staff, clean restrooms and great security. It is within walking distance to older part of town, shops and events. We rented a car and drove to Panama City Beach, which we highly recommend. Have breakfast at Andy's Flour Power Cafe and Bakery, for sure. 3123 Thomas Dr Panama City Beach 32408. Some of the best food on the loop. We enjoyed our drive on to SeaSide, the town where the movie 'Truman' was made, lined with quaint picket fenced cottages. It is a very unique community. Worth the drive. A very fun day.

Awesome Marina, 2016-10-14
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (408)

We were met at the fuel dock when we arrived, Rick was very helpful witth the re fueling and with the docking alongside afterwards. Check in was very easy and the Active Captain/ Boat US discounts were awesome. We always stay here when passing through the area.

Friendly, helpful staff, downtown location, 2016-10-03
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1453)

Staff brought us pieces of fire hose as chafe guards, told us to keep them - most appreciated for large square concrete pilings. Good security on docks. Great fuel price. Arrived Sat. afternoon, left Mon. morning and trolley doesn't run on Sunday, so we didn't get far from the marina. Police were ticketing owners of off-leash dogs, so beware. Nice grassy areas for dog, though. Not much in immediate area - a couple of restaurants and civic center (no events while we were there).

Always a Blessed stop, 2016-08-08
Captain: , New Port Richey (310)

Had engine problems came in early a.m. and went in office. got us setup and ordered overnight UPS parts next morning parts arrive installed, fueled all hands are so helpful. Goodies everywhere and the town just keeps getting better. If you need some parts are local at PC marine. Thanks Guys and Ladiesat PC Marina you are a REAL Marina. SIX STARS

Great staff, 2016-08-05
Captain: , Panama City, Fl (73)

Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice showers and laundry. Easy in and out from ICW. Grocery approx. 1 mile walk, in downtown vicinity. Or catch trolley in front of Civic center to West Marine and shopping in outer areas.

Good Marina, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Freeport (141)

People were very helpful when getting fuel and docking. Good security. Stayed several days will return.

Friendly people; great service, 2016-07-04
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (45)

Staff very accommodating and helpful. Security there all night. Very nice price on diesel. Highly recommend.

Protected basin right downtown, 2016-06-28
Captain: , United States (3192)

Easy docking on the transient dock. Welcome packet and a nice ship's store. Easy walk to town with restaurants and even a performing arts center.

Great Marina, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Niceville, Fl (195)

Definately a great marina and you should plan your trip so you need fuel at the same time. With Boat US discount combined with fuel discounts it is really a good deal. Staff is awesome and very helpful both at the fuel dock and when you get to your slip. The only thing is we only found one restaurant within walking distance. Bayou Joe's is very good though.

Fine people, very friendly, great facilities, and close to downtown, 2016-05-01
Captain: , Corpus Christi (40)

Stayed here for a couple of nights in our 90' Skipperliner and we're glad we did. Very close to downtown so we we're never bored, fantastic bathroom facilities, and fair price with BoatUS discount and others. The WiFi is bare minimum, but thats about standard for the N end of the Gulf. I definitely reccmmend this place. You even get a free keychain for staying here.

Great Customer Service, 2016-04-29
Captain: , St Petersburg, FL (115)

Customer service by the book! Great stop!

The Best Staff and the Best Marina!, 2016-04-09
Captain: , Ridgway (70)

Without question, the staff here is the best, including Sondra, Al, Diana and Rick and the manager, Stan. They are very accommodating and very friendly – they all seem to love their job! The facilities are quite nice. The bathrooms at the marina office and store are excellent – clean and well kept and modern. Others have complained about the concrete pilings for tying up however, just ask the staff for chaff guards and they will give you sections of fire hose that fixes that. The transient dock is a bit exposed to the SE so it’s best to side tie there with the bow facing the opening if SE winds are expected. Night time security is nice. We thought we’d be there for 2 weeks but since we were so happy, we stayed for 6 weeks!

Great price on diesel! , 2016-01-11
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Fuel dock is very convenient. Transient long wall has some poorly-designed concrete posts intermingled with the wood piles, just waiting to get your hull--fender carefully, taking the tidal swing into account. Several restaurants and bars within walking distance, but we visited on Veteran's Day and most were closed. Well-stocked ships store. Showers and baths at the office are kept cleaner than the ones in the remote building closer to the slips. Nice welcome packet is a bonus. Direct access to the Class A inlet to the Gulf.

Very enjoyable stay, 2015-12-11
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (728)

We spent Thanksgiving week here waiting for the gulf to calm down enough to cross. This is a very nice marina with a very helpful staff. As others have said there are far worse places to be stuck.
At first glance the downtown seems kind of dead but a bit of exploring revealed some nice hidden gems. Take the dinghy to Bayou Joe's or over to Shell Island for a very nice afternoon.

One of the finest places I stopped, 2015-12-02
Captain: , Kalamazoo, MI (20)

Clean, newly constructed, near buy to everything. Friendly, helpful staff.

Great Place to Stop and Stay, 2015-12-01
Captain: , Prattville, AL (300)

We planned to just stay one night, but decided to stay longer because of storms blowing through. This is a great place to be "stuck"!

The marina staff members were very helpful and friendly, and they were patient as our plans changed.

If you decide to stay at Panama City Marina, note that it is a challenge to tie up without putting your lines in danger of chaffing. They need more cleats on their docks (they just replaced the dock surfaces, so it might be that cleats just haven't been installed yet), so you end up tying to concrete pillars that are pretty prabrasive. I added salvaged lengths of fire hose to my wish list after seeing them used by some of our neighbors to protect their lines.

We'll be back!

Great Marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Little River, SC (2037)

Very friendly staff, nice ship's store and clean facilities. Left our boat here for 2 weeks while visiting family. They gave us a nice slip with good protection. Boat/US discount.

Awesome is the only word!!!, 2015-10-11
Captain: , Saint Petersburg, Fl (227)

Panama City Marina is fantastic!!! We sailed in after a 12 hour sail from Pensacola. We were mid channel and call them at straight up 7am. They were so accommodating, assigned us a side tie on the long transit pier and had someone meet us to tie up. We were exhausted and tired from a 24 hour day. Told us to get some rest and come up to the office when we were ready.

We were greeted with hello's and welcome to PCM! Presented us with a gift pack and coffee.

The only thing I wish they had were bicycles to borrow or rent. Some things are quite the hike.

Other than that this place is awesome!!

great rates. plenty of conveniences, 2015-08-01
Captain: , Kitty Hawk, NC (290)

caution coming in from the west. breakwall out front creates confused waters. 28' sailboat 5' draft tied to floating dock first slip by fuel dock. Not the best protection from incoming swells. glad I was on that dock vs. fixed. Nice store with anything you really need. discount grocery not too far away. laundry and restrooms great. well worth a week's stay while changing crew. easy in and out for both icw and gulf.

Worth the Stop, 2015-07-01
Captain: , KENTUCKY (60)

The experience was nice with friendly workers. They got us a nicer slip when we reserved and help pull us to dock. We even recieved a welcome gift for staying the night. We got nice showers and paid a little more for laundry than I would like.

Downtown doesn't have much, but its not a far walk. Many places to eat. Dollar general is near.

However, be advised on their pricing in the store. Everytime we bought a canned beverage, the price was different. We paid 1.09, 1.00, & 1.06 for canned drinks which are sold for 0.93 with 7% tax. Why were the prices different each time?

Excellent facility, 2015-06-01
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

Easy access and very well protected. Dockmaster was very helpful and the "welcome" package was a nice touch. It made it a lot easier to find things in towm. Rest rooms were very clean and the security was very good

Clean and Friendly, 2015-05-20
Captain: , santa barbara (771)

Easy entry, very helpful staff, slips are wide, power was good. Fingers are a bit narrow and spring lines need to be secured on concrete posts - good to use chafing gear.
Area is secure and there is a security guard there most of the night who regularly walks the docks. Had a great italian meal at Ferrucci's - about three blocks away on Harrison Avenue.

Exceeded Expectations !! - 10 Stars!, 2015-05-12
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1148)

This marina should be the example for all marinas to follow at welcoming guests. A huge welcome packet was given to us upon checking in and the ship store was cute with good prices. Extremely friendly and pet friendly! Cute town to walk around within a short distance and lots of restaurants close by and stores were pet friendly too!

Conveniently there was even an oil disposal station at the marina.

Great Stop and Friendly Staff, 2015-04-25
Captain: , Kemah, TX (306)

We are repeat customers and will stop here again.

This marina meets has all amenities. The marina is just off the ICW and is located a short walk to the down town shops and eateries.

Panama City has a West Marina. It is not within walking/biking distance; however, there is a trolly that stops at the marina and makes a stop at/near the West Marina. Ask the marina staff about the trolly for details of the trolly schedule and stops.

Fine Time in the Panhandle, 2015-04-18
Captain: , Bay Springs, MS (120)

We spent a week here. Easy in and out. It has a seawall. We were lucky enough to get a slip with at floating dock adjacent to the ships store, showers, etc. They have two of these slips. We walked, used the local bus system on several occasions, and rented a car for one day. For $4, you can ride all day with as many transfers as you want. In two days you could see everything there is to see usiing the bus system.
Folks at the marina are super nice. They signed for some medicines that I had shipped in. Everything is clean (shower stalls being the exception).
I would definitely stay here again.

Arrived around 0130 and even though it was very late the security guard was there to help guide us in and help tie up. We draft 6 feet and had no trouble getting in. Aiming for the tallest bldg helps in finding the marina store. Very nice marina.

Great Marina and staff, 2015-03-17
Captain: , Benton (20)

Stopped in marina going and coming. Staff were very helpful both times with fueling and docking, answering questions about local area. Restrooms and shower facilities are clean and well maintained. Marina complex has nice tables to set around and relax inside and outside. We will definitely make it a stopping point next time.

Since we our vessel has a deep draft we are always concerned about depth, approach and dockside provided a lot of clearance (8.5' was the miniinum that I saw) even at low tide.

FANTASTIC!, 2015-03-01
Captain: , Verona WI (292)

We stayed one night Feb 28-2015. What a great bunch of people. Help getting tied up at the floating dock, great welcome packet with map of the area, coffee coupons, popcorn and a nice souvenir key chain. Can't imagine there being a friendlier Marina. We will definitely return.

All that and a bag of popcorn, 2015-02-27
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

Easy in and out from the ICW. Great help getting tied up. Everthing in great condition. Hard to image a better location, easy walk into town with lots of restaurant options and enough shopping for esentials. The welcome packet with city information and popcorn was a nice surprise. Good fuel price and excellent Wi-Fi. Stay January 2015

We stayed here june 10 2014 going to New Orleans from Tampa, they greeted with a welcome packet. The marina is very clean and secure, the marina store has a small mix of products.

Excellent place, 2014-12-27
Captain: , Louisville, KY (347)

Spent Christmas here with 4 other loopers waiting for better weather Clean restrooms/showers, 2 washers and driers. The face dock is good, but the finger piers are very narrow and have concrete piles right in the center (both lengthwise and crosswise). It takes a contortionist to get around them, and dependiing on your length and boarding location, it can be challenging. Only one short floating dock, max length about 35 feet. Town is right at the end of the marina, grocery about 6 blocks away. I would stay here again

Spent 2 nights and as the previous reviewers have stated a great stop. The welcome / information package was very helpful. Downtown very quiant with lots of shopping. Tom's Hot Dogs was a hit with us.
Bathrooms and showers very clean.

Came in short notice due to severe fog - Very good transient dock - floating - staff very helpful and nice - close to a number of restaurants - excellent Wi-Fi - very good fuel prices and a fantastic fresh shrimp sales shack in the south east corner, fresh off the boats - only down side is no courtesy car and it%u2019s a fair distance to a Publix type grocery store - cab was available make sure to get the price up front.

Best Wi Fi so far, 2014-12-03

A very clean well kept marina. Staff is very helpful in getting you situated into your slip. Town is a little too far for us to walk. This is the best Wi Fi we have found so far.

Excellent fuel prices particularly for BoatUS/Loopers. Easy walk to decent downtown with shops and good variety of restaurants (try Bayou Joes for funky but good). Very pleasant staff and good wooden docks. WiFi did not work. Nice welcome package. Very nice views. Would definitely stop here again

Stayed here on 10/21/14. Dock help was excellent not only fueling but also tying up for the night-thanks Don. Also, a big thank you to Mary for the needed help you gave us, and the apples were delicious. Nice town with many shops and restaurants close by. Great rate and fuel prices. Highly recommend this stop.

This is a nice gem of a marina. Well kept up, friendly staff, reasonably close to restaurants and the view is beautiful. And you can't beat their rate of $1.15/ft for BoatUS members. Definitely on our repeat visit list.

great stay, 2014-10-01
Captain: , kemah tx (130)

everything here is very good except the water .... the water in the heads seemed a bit nasty tasting ... no handicap access to the trans dock ...

the staff is great and the location is great .... try the restaurant called "The Place" about three blocks up Harrison for drinks and decent food ...

Wow, mixed reviews here. Called and was warmly welcomed. Was told that they'd be closed by the time that we arrived, BUT, security would meet us at the dock with keys and such. We arrived 30 minutes after closing, no one was there, so we parked ourselves. 2 1/2 hours later, I was able to track down the security guard. She had the keys, but didn't come on until right before I found her, so we didn't get out of the compound until 8pm. Showers are a bit of a hike...not the cleanest, but 2 of them. Cable didn't work, docks are a bit rickety and there are no services once the staff leaves. They waived the fee after I explained the issues. Fuel was WELL-UNDER previous prices, so gotta give this a 3+

Its like being home, 2014-09-14

If your looking for a quiet place to spend a few days this is it. The staff is very friendly and hellpful. The Marina store has a good selection of supplies (bait and fuel), and a small snack bar area. When your in a transit slip you have an access key to the bath and shower facilities. After a day of boating there are plenty of restaurants and cozy sit outdoor bars, all within walking distance of the marina. Safe Boating, Pat Malone

Easy to get in. Very helpful staff. Great discount on dockage. Transient dock was wide enough that they suggested we tie our center console up to our trawler so they didn't have to charge footage for that. Outstanding overall! We will be back.

Friendly people that don't mind taking the time to answer your questions. Great little welcome package with lots of useful info on restaurants and other places in town. Walking distance to most. Marina was secure and easy to get in and out of. Fuel dock right there and $0.10/gallon discount to Active Captain members.

We stayed here about three weeks on Pier 2 - not the transient dock. The facilities are very nice as are the office staff. The downtown area is good - lots of entertainment and restaurants, but no grocery within walking distance - maybe a long bike ride. Good fuel prices, we will return.

The marina has a friendly staff with good security at a fair price. Close to several good restaurants. About a 1 1/2 mile walk to the nearest grocery store. Pleanty of depth and well protected from wave action. We will return.

We only stopped for fuel since the marina was full on a holiday weekend. Upon arrival, the marina anger and dock master caught our lines, pumped out the holding tank while I was fueling the off side, then offered a way to accommodate us if we still wanted a slip. Now, that's nice.

The marina is excellent and well protected. Prices are resaonable but the most important thing is the people who operate the marina. They were very warm and friendly to us. I had some medical problems and wound up in Bay Medical Center and while we were there they very helpful to my wife. Can't say enough about those good folks. Thanks.

Well located marina with very friendly staff and a great little marine store, take your cup and get free cofee, laundry room, fuel, cable TV and wifi. Go fishing off the pier, enjoy the Friday Fest and try some of the fantastic restaurants in the area. Only the shower facilities are not quite as good as I hoped.

Captain: , Asheville, NC (20)

We needed a place to do laundry and regroup after crossing the Gulf two days before, so stopped at Panama City Marina on March 21, 2014. A nice lady helped us tie up to their new floating dock which is just a few steps from the store/office and the showers and laundry. This is an older marina but everything was clean and in good repair. The staff was helpful with directions etc. They give transients a nice packet of information and little gifts. And the price was the lowest we have paid in Florida ($1.12/ft with a Boat US discount). There is also a $0.10 BoatUS discount on fuel which is already competively priced. Town is an easy walk away. There isn't a great deal to do after hours unless something is happening at the nearby Civic Center, but we had a nice Cafe supper and found ice cream at a mexican restaurant. The marina is right on the waterway so very convenient. We will certainly stop there again when in the area.

Could use some work: My call inquiring about a transit slip for the night was handles in a very business like manner, if a little quick and abrupt. The security guard that met us was very pleasant but forgot to give me the password for the wifi. I didn't like the guard having write down all my credit card info because we arrived after closing. My crew decided to shower on board after finding out there was no way to lock the bathroom door while inside. And lastly I am not sure what I will be charged for gas or slip as I will mention Active Captain and the guard also wrote down my Boat US membership number. I think I had to give out less info when I bought my last house.

This a.m. things were much better at the fuel dock: everybody had their act pretty much together in a true unrehearsed customer service kind of way.......well except for the lady that just tried to charge me slip rent for a 400 footer! Gotta love this boating life.

Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

On Jan 17 we entered the City Marina with low expectations based on 8 months on the "Loop", including a goood number of municipal marinas. What a pleasant surprise Panama City Marina was! Beautiful facility, clean and well maintained docks, competitive fuel pricing, walking distance of shops and restaurants, etc. We had never experienced municipal staffing like this - attentive, professional, interested. A far cry from, for example, the Chicago environment. Stan Jones runs a terriffic facility and his service was impeccable. Unfortunately, the Captain fell on the second night, fracturing my ankle and ending our Loop adventure. Stan and his staff stepped up to help the Admiral when she and the sea pooches were left alone with me in the hospital. What a great operation! Highly recommend this stop!

Great Stay over Christmas '13, 2014-01-11
Captain: , Fairhope, AL (10)

Starting with a "welcomiing attitude" phone conversation from Dockmaster, Stan Jones, we thoroughly enjoyed a 4 day layover to wait out a passing front. Clean showers and rest rooms and well stocked marina store for necessities. Did not meet anyone on the staff that was not cheerful and ready to offer help. Panama City is great place to stop. Small downtown area has restaurants within a few blocks walking and other interesting shops...first rate sporting goods store and great antique shops. Excellent bookstore. If you want to take an adventure try the PC trolley system. Primary "station" is very close to the marina. $4.00 day pass. Routes a little confusing at first but you will quickly become expert. Drivers very helpful in getting you where you want to go and back. Transient dock is under lock and key; good security.
Hope to return to this place on our summer cruise. Nearby anchorage at Shell Island is a must for transients wanting to enjoy beautiful PC waters and beach.
Dockmaster took time to introduce me to Active Captain and am now "hooked."

Update (1/10/14):
This remains our first choice marina in the area. The new harbormaster (Steve) and assistant (Don) are very professional and boater-friendly. We are always met at the dock and receive assistance with lines. The facilities are great (and clean), and we enjoy the area. There is a lot within walking distance, but the local bus system is close by and very good.
We have stayed at this marina numerous times over the years and most recently stayed a month (Oct 2011). We felt comfortable leaving the boat for a couple of weeks since the security is good. The location is great and the facilities are very nice - and always clean. The staff members are all very nice and helpful -- and Bill Lloyd (the marina director) goes above and beyond, and always seems to be available. Although we had a car this time, the public transportation is good. Within walking distance, there are a number of restaurants and a great seafood market.

Great staff, nice marina, 2014-01-06
Captain: , San Marcos, TX (865)

Stayed here 3 nights in Dec 2013. Well maintained marina, bath facilities and laundry. Staff was very friendly and helpful and provided useful information about the surrounding area. Buses run close by for a trip to WalMart if needed. Bayou Joe's is good and just a short walk.

A Wonderful Place to Linger, 2014-01-03
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

A Wonderful Place to Linger

The boat spent about 3 weeks at Panama City, a week of which we were off visiting family for the holidays. The staff is very friendly and professional and will help in any way they can. The docks are a bit dated but fine and there is gated security which is nice especially when leaving the boat for a while. There is also a webcam you can manipulate from the Internet so we were able to look at the boat every day we were gone - cool!

Panama City is nice with a variety of shops and restaurants - don't miss Bayou Joe's. Get the grouper sandwich. Being there near Christmas meant the town was decorated with a huge tree in the square. Friday nights had a Dickens Christmas with shops opening late and carriage rides, etc. We enjoyed that.

There is a serviceable grocery walking distance, Grocery Outlet, and an interesting Middle Eastern market that had just opened on Harrison Street. The trolley stops right at the marina and can take you to Publix and Walmart (across the street from each other) for more selection. The trolley also goes to the Panama City Mall.

St Andrews Marina about 3 miles away is also part of the city marina system and is definitely worth visiting. There is a bike trial or you can take the trolley over. A charming town with several interesting restaurants and shops.

Marina Manager, Stan, showed us plans for renovating both marinas that will make them even better for transient boaters. We think next time we'd like to try staying at St Andrews. We thank the staff for providing us a wonderful stay and look forward to coming back and seeing the improvements.

Mistake about fuel discount , 2013-12-15
Captain: , Panama City, FL (10)

This is the closest marina to my home dock. Was there last week. I discussed Active Captain with them. They indicated there was a mistake about the fuel discount for mentioning Active Captain. They do offer a ten cent per gallon discount with transient stay. Since close to home I use them for fuel, sand at times bait and ice. They usually have great live bait. The bathrooms were spotless. Marina store well stocked.

nice marina, try Bayou Joe's nearby, 2013-12-08
Captain: , New England (60)

Nice marina, be mindful in high winds take it real slow coming in. A few blocks away Bayou Joes has great seafood, service, and scenery. I had trouble getting on the WiFi network, but it's (slowly) loading pages now.

Panama City Marina is a great stop. We were put on the wall with other transients but we had water, electricity, cable TV at the dock. Nice restroom and laundry facilities at the Marina store which was a fairly long walk from the dock. Gas, Diesel, and pumpout. Very good ships store for snacks and some groceries.
Helpful staff. No courtesy car but near historic downtown area.
And....a bag of microwave popcorn and free coffee coupons in their welcome packet.

Great Stay, 2013-07-23
Captain: , Cromartie Beach, Albany.Ga. (115)

Had short stay here in my 26 foot trailor sailor. Helpful and friendly staff, great ship store. Fixed wooden dockage may be a concern to some, but no problem for me. Short drive by car or dinghy to Bayou Joes restaurant. The adjacent boat ramp is pretty steep and has a drop off at the end (although there is a sign warning you of this). Will definitely stay again. Look on the website to get access to a fun web-cam.

Good, clean marian with friendly and helpful staff. Easy walk to downtown. Discount grocery store about ten blocks away, cab ride back to marina for four people and provisions - $6. Would definitely would stop here again. Would be five stars with floating docks.

I had my Watkins 29 slipped here for 3-4 years (2007-2010), the whole time I owned her. The marina is nice and clean and the dockhands and dockmaster are both really nice, I was good friends with them by the end of my time here and we knew each other by name. That have transeit slips although I'm not sure of their rates. If you can get one near the ships store you can probably get free wifi. Decent places to eat within walking distance. Nice ships store too.

Nice staff, but...., 2012-12-20
Captain: , Kemah, Tx. (145)

Overall, pretty average. The problem was that the transient dock is unprotected to the east/southeast. Very rolly at times. If there is traffic on the ICW, the wakes will really rock your boat. Our boat is a 36' Hunter sailboat. There were some large trawlers on the tie-along, and think they did ok, so maybe better if you are on a largish M/V.

nice place for a city dock, 2012-12-12
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Nothing special, as it is just a city ran marina, with a lot of rules which they will give you in your welcome aboard package. The marina staff was courteous, old town was a disappointment. Dinner at Bayou Joe's Grill was the highlight and a pleasant surprise of our stay.

Could have been a bit more service oriented, 2012-08-27
Captain: , Kemah, TX (395)

We were anchored across the bay and went over in the dinghy to do laundry and connect for emails before buying diesel and ice. We were told that we had to leave our computer bags and computers outside (as if we might use them to shoplift). Personnel would not allow us to use wi-fi. I proposed that if they would allow us to use the wi-fi I would buy my fuel from them. They did not agree to my proposal but countered with a $5.00 fee to access the wi-fi. I paid the $5.00 and took care of my emails. We did our laundry...washing machines are $2.50 per load, which I thought a bit steep. Fuel was competitivel priced.

Super City Marina, 2012-07-29
Captain: , charleston (831)

We arrived at this marina 5 minutes before a huge storm. The dock hand was waiting at the dock to tie us up securely before the storm hit. Everyone couldn't have been nicer. Very secure with security gate. Even the showers were securely locked. Also very clean for a city marina. Only drawback was no courtesy car since it was a city marina.

Never saw a self serve facility before, 2012-06-25
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (164)

We motored our 34 foot sailboat into this facility to take on fuel. Maybe we're just spoiled, but this is the first time we've ever approached and tied up to a fuel dock, and not had a single person come out to help take our lines, even though we called ahead to tell them we were five minutes out. After finally getting the boat tied up, it took a few more minutes to figure out that the fuel pumps were self serve as well - the place operates like a waterfront 7-11. After someone turned on the pumps from inside the marina store, we filled our tank, and then went inside to pay. Interestingly enough, when we were leaving, the attendant actually followed us out and held one of our lines while we back onboard - I seriously think he was expecting a tip. We gave him a hearty wave goodbye as we pulled away.

A nice facility, conveniently located, but be sure you're self sufficient in case you have a similar experience.

As muni marina go, this is a very nice one. Helpful staff, secure, at the end of main street. Downtown is coming back with many parades, car festival and bike week. Marina Manager is a cruiser so knows what we need. Wind protection is good. Wake protection is ok. Only reason for three stars was fixed dicks with cement pilings. use your bumpers. Fuel is Valtec and most resasonsable in the area. Lots of good restaurants in the area.

Again, one of our favorite stops, ended up staying 4 nites instead of the 2 that we planned. the staff here are just the best, since I run a marina in the summer I notice this stuff. A good store also!!
Cyndi's addendum:
During our stay in 2012 we again enjoyed the cable tv, wireless internet access and gift shop with a great selection of everything from cards and fishing tackle to cold beer and local wine. The closest store for provisioning is the very local Grocery Outlet, mere blocks away, with a limited selection of some thngs but an awesome meat counter. I'd also like to recommend the nearby Simply Computers at 433 Harrison Street, a short walk from the marina or owner-technician Dale will come to you. He ordered the new keyboard I needed ahead of time and was super about keeping in touch and being understanding of a sometimes unpredictable traveling schedule. Very conscientious work for a fair price. Website is Also repairs iPhones and Smart Phones.

Very good marina for our layover while traveling south. Marina staff is excellent, offered to help get into the slip and provided chaffing protection to lines due to the square concrete pilings used in the marina. Most slips are behind locked gates and adjacent to the city offices where there is near constant police patrol. Good grassy area for our two dogs to run and do their business.

Great Place to stay!, 2011-06-12
Captain: , Atlanta (314)

We came in to the marina after having to anchor and ride out a nasty storm. Staff was attentive and sensitive to our somewhat confused and battered state.

Great (and clean) facilities, good store with a nice stock of items, both useful and "tourist" stuff.

VERY well protected!

We spent several days and the staff was always attentive and helpful.

Restrooms, laundry facility, etc always clean!

Nearby restaurants, food store, local chandlery (a GOOD one). Trolley system for good city transportation.

Trailersailors Note: The double ramp is neither steep nor deep enough for many sailboats. I was able to pull out near low tide with some difficulty. Two friends with somewhat deeper boats went to St Andrews Marina to pull out. (I'd suggest just waiting for higher tides.)

I received a "Captain's Package" when checking in with a map of the area, a key ring, microwave popcorn and coupons for free coffee! There are some good restaurants within walking distance...Trigo for pizza, Cassandra's for breakfast, Bayou Joes for seafood dinner. Stayed two nights at this marina. We arrived in the dark and after hours. Called ahead for a reservation and already knew what slip we were assigned before we got there. The security gaurd met us as we came in and even caught a dock line. The slip has a small finger pier and concrete pilings middle and aft. Water and electric at the dock. Well stocked store, clean showers and restrooms and a laundry. Very easy to get in and out of the marina with plenty of deep water. We will definitely be staying agian.

Second time here., 2011-01-28

This is our second stop at this marina and would stay again. The transient pier is a long stationery pier with easy access. The marina is gated and security guards walk the pier 24 hours a day. The restrooms are good but a walk from the pier. They have a well stocked ships store and sell diesel at a reasonable price. They present you with a welcome package upon arrival with street maps, coupons and a bag of microwaveable popcorn. Local knowledge is available from the dockmasters. Town is a short distance away with resturants and stores. Good place to wait for weather. Check out the 9-11 memorial at the end of the street. Awesome.

Captain: , Captiva (173)

We stayed two nights in a catamaranm with no extra charge. The smell is from a local paper mill. The marina is easy to find. Just look for a yellow A-Frame building. We received a "welcome" package from the security person with a Orange Beach to Panama City chart, popcorn, free coffee coupons, and key chain. The trolley is close, but doesn't really stay on a schedule. We were able to get to a Sam's, Pulbix, Starbucks, and Walmart, but it took us most of the day waiting for transfers. Get a trolley map at the office if you plan on using it for transportation. The marina itself is clean and the dockmaster is very helpful. The current in the channel coming in is very strong. it was going out at 5 pm when we arrived. You can walk into the town where there are stores and restaurants. .

Friendly, safe, fabulous marina - great location, 2009-03-26
Captain: , Knoxville, TN (1788)

We stayed here in Feburary & March '09 on our 46' yacht with our 2 young kids and dog. We were very pleased with the facilities. The docks are well maintained and clean. The security is very good - locked gates, well-lit, and nightime security on premises. Restrooms are clean (2 private bathrooms with showers at Dock 1, and 2 more each in marina store). Good laundry and well-stocked ships store (including bait). Nice large grassy areas to walk the dog (even bags to pick up after them!).
The Panama City Trolley stops 1 block from the marina and can take you all over the city (St Andrews area, mall, Wal-Mart, etc.). Otherwise, in walking distance are a P.O., dry cleaners, many restaurants, Dollar General, Grocery Outlet, book store, hair salon, Marina Civic Center, Tarpon Dock Seafood Market, etc. We definitely did not feel like we were missing anything.
We recommend Bayou Joe's Seafood Restaurant and Tarpon Dock Seafood Market - both within a few blocks walk.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The Marina staff made us feel very welcome and were very helpful - even received mail for us. We would definitely recommend the marina and would stay here again.
