Reviews for Palm Island Marina
Great Marina, 2016-12-02
Captain: , Germantown Tn (20)

Changing name to Aqua Marina. We stayed here for 3 weeks. The marina staff is very helpful and always available. They have a courtesy car and will drive you to Publix. It can get shallow when tide is low. Well protected from wind and waves tight quarters for 57 ft . Resturant on site and swimming pool. If you have a dinghy you can go to beach.

Nice Marina along our way, 2016-11-17
Captain: , Long Beach, MS (50)

This is a narrow channel for a 56 ft boat to turn around but with several attemps of going forward and backwards in the two channels my husband was able to turn it around. You know sail boats don't like to go backwards, esp. this big beast. Once we got it turned arround we pulled up to the slip to tie up and the dock hands wanted us to pull up further so they could tie up another boat behind us, but we were as far up as we were going because much further and were at the last pole. So we just tied up there. The cable boxes didn't work we had to try 3 to find one that worked. The pool and hot tub looked inviting but it was late and I never got to try them as I was waiting for our friends who arrived after dark and we still need to go to the store. We were told the stor was only a mile away so we walked and it was more like 3 miles. We were a little tired when we got there as we were rushing and it was a dark road with no lights and very busy. The internet said the store was closing but when we got there it was open for another hour and we were locky to find someone to drive us back to the marina.

Convenient stop along the ICW, 2016-11-04
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (552)

We stayed 1 night in early November. Had no problems with our 6' draft, coming at high tide and leaving at low tide. Very tight space to manouever our 53' trawler but we made it and had lots of help tying up. Used fender boards on fixed wood docks. Marina has a new owner as of Aug 2016 and name will be changed to Aquamarina Palm Harbour as soon as new signs are up. Rate is now $2.25/ft with no discounts offered. No problem with 50a power or wifi but had only 1 bar AT&T, sporadic 2 bars from flybridge. Didn't use showers, w/d or pool (nice). Onsite restaurant was closed for remodeling. Didn't take water taxi to Rum Key. Nice large grassy dog area in front of condos, a short walk from docks.

Arrived late and left early - no issues at all, 2016-08-03
Captain: , High Springs, FL (687)

Thanks to an unplanned "pause" in 3' of water while transiting a few hours earlier we found ourselves arriving around 8pm when everyone was gone.

Directions were give on where to tie up when we arrived so there were no hiccups though. We left before anyone arrived so no way to tell how the staff was in person but they were great on the phone!

The pool was a really nice break on the trip for our kids.

Edited -

We stopped by here again on our retuern trip north and made was met by two very helpful staff.

UPDATED 8/3/16 -
Still a great place to stop. We came through here on our way to the Dry Tortugas and it was another great stop. Diesel prices were the best around too!

Great Little Spot, 2016-06-21
Captain: , Forked River, NJ (114)

We came here with our boat club. The staff was friendly and helpful. The marina was clean and well mainteaned. We will certainly be back again.

Nice Marina with Great Staff, 2016-05-26
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (22)

I have been here several times with my boat club. Not much manuevering room, especially for the inside slips. However, they can normally put larger vessels on lay along docks where this problem is minimized.

The fixed docks are well maintained as are the restrooms and pool.

The onsite restaurant Leverocks and the assoicated Rum Bay Restaurant on Knight Island are very good. Water taxi to Rum Bay is half price ($3.00 round trip) if you are staying at the marina.

One of our favorites, 2016-05-22
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (70)

Spent 2 nights at Palm Island during a 2 week cruise this month. Staff and facilities are all first rate and the on site restaurant is excellent. We try to make it to Palm Island at least once or twice a season and have never been disappointed.

Comfortable, clean, convenient facility with outstanding staff and well-protected dockage., 2016-05-17
Captain: , Palmetto, FL (10)

Stayed 1 night going south on Friday 5/13/16 and another night going north the following Monday. Very convenient approach from ICW. Multiple dock staff to assist docking each time. Pool, showers and Leverock's on-site restaurant all very close to transient slips. Separate men's & ladies showers were very clean and in good repair and combination locks on the doors. Most impressive were the staff: competent and genuinely wanting to do anything they could to make your stay better. Leverock's restaurant on-site was excellent and we will go there again. The Rum Bay restaurant accessed via water taxi served un-appealing food and we won't return. Also, the bugs ate us alive while waiting for the water taxe at Rum Bay. A quality, comfortable place to spend the night when traveling the ICW.

Cruise destination, 2016-05-01
Captain: , Charlotte Harbor, FL (263)

Our boat club visited for the weekend. Great accomodations, helpful dockhands. A little tight manuvering inside for a boat our size (35'), but do-able.

Did I mention free afternoon beer and morning doughnuts? What's not to like?

mechanical work, 2016-03-20
Captain: , riverview fl (20)

Brought boat to them for prop, shaft and alignment work. They Performed some of the work and declared shaft alignment was now perfect. Upon review of work before moving boat, shaft could not be turned by hand. Service manager repeated work was fine and would wear in. Removed boat to another facility and strut was found to be 3/4 inch out of position.

Loved this place, 2016-03-19
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. There's a pool, hot tub, BBQ, pavillion, showers, courtsey for grocery shopping & a ferry to Don Pedro Island! If you stay at the marina, you get passes to the beach on Don Pedro Island and it's awesome!
People were great, dock hands great...We didn't try the restaruant but judging from the parking lot - it must be good!

Great place, 2016-02-20
Captain: , Cape Haze FL (35)

We stayed there from 11/15 - 2/16 the staff are great! The Showers are kept clean. The Pool & Hot tub, free donuts on the weekends and free beer on Saturday affternoons make hard to leave.

An Old Favorite, 2016-01-14
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

We haven't stayed here in a few years, but had the occasion to need a midpoint stop on our way home to Longboat Key. I'm glad we did!

Palm Island is a very well run, full service and friendly marina. Right off the Gulf ICW, the access is quick and easy, good fixed docks, fuel, pumpout, very nice pool and head facilities.

Leverocks is a very nice restaurant located on property offering a nice variety of quality seafood and other menu items.

Good place with good people. We will be back.

Terrific marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

They've got the trifecta -- good docks and facilities, great staff, and lovely setting. We came in at the last moment -- literally calling an hour before we arrived and the general manager, Tim, could not have been nicer. Of course we will help you out was his simple reply. This is an easy in easy out from the ICW spot with wonderful facilities. Even the restaurant looks terrific (although because the wife made the worlds best beef stroganoff for dinner we didn't eat there). Great spot overall.

No regrets..., 2015-09-11
Captain: , Chicago, IL (132)

We came in under tow after an engine failure... never expected to have four deckhands waiting on us! And the marina's service staff responded in kind. On-site restaurant is very good as is their sister establishment at Rum Bay via their shuttle launch. But highly recommend a visit to the nearby Zydeco Grille if you can get someone to give you a ride. Taxi or Uber service is non-existent.

One of our very favorites, 2015-08-27
Captain: , Palm Harbor, FL (10)

We have stayed here six times over the past three years, always enroute to locations farther south or while making our way home. Without exception we have always been treated like famiily...more so than at any other marina we have ever visited. The location is ideal and well protected, the facilities are excellent and the on site restaurant as well as its competitor an (on site) water taxi or dinghy ride away across the ICW are great and very good value. There is a Publix just 10 minutes away by bike and an Ace Hardware halfway along the trip to Publix. Most importantly the marina staff and the water taxi captain are amongst the friendliest and most helpful you can ever encounter. One of the rare instances where there is nothing particularly fancy going on but it is still worthy of a five star rating time after time.

Wonderful facilities!, 2015-07-20
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

We stopped here on our way northward and were delighted. Great pool! Clean! The water taxi ride across the ICW to Rum Bay Restaurant was nice. Food great!

Really Great Place, 2015-04-23
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (675)

Nice Marina. Very clean showers and restrooms. Staff was great and the best tie up help we have had along the entire gulf coast. I got next to the dock and before I knew it was correctly tied up. Water, cable and power connected, all correctly. Really great restaurant in the Marina and a very nice pool and sun deck. Not much to see or do right around the Marina, but there is a water taxi to Palm Island Resort which has a great restaurant and beach. Marina guest are considered registered resort guest and you get a discount on water taxi fare. Great place to stop for overnight or a two day break. Can be tight maneuvering when there are a lot of boats in, but we have a 45 ft boat and had no problem, just a bit tight as the Marina was packed with a visiting boat club group. Very well protected with no current. Stop by, you will enjoy it. Would be 5 star if any shopping and things to do were in walking distance of Marina.

Does not get much better, true 5 stars, 2015-03-11
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

Great staff, they are always there to catch your lines or answer a question. The marina slips and grounds are super well-maintained, very competitive fuel prices. They can get you most any part in 24 hours at a fair price. Nice pool and spa over looking the intercostal. Quality restaurant on site or take the water taxi over to Palm Island for an additional food and beverage option or to explore the shelling beach. This marina makes a great transient stop or resort destination for a long stay. If you looking for someplace with lots of shopping or non-marina services with in walking distance this is not your place. But, if you want a high quality marina and resort experience this is definitely your place. Stayed six weeks beginning February 2015

Great stop, 2015-02-08
Captain: , palm harbor (160)

We were heading into 25mph wind and seas as we headed north. Our stop was venice but we were not making enough headway to be there by nightfall. We decided to navigate the inlet and headed here for the night. We were helped at the dock by three staff who were incredibly friendly and happy to have us there. It didnt hurt that they had a free keg out at the harbormasters office! Not much wind here at the marina which was nice, will definitely come again.

Very good marina, 2014-09-15
Captain: , Anna Maria, FL (165)

The dock staff was very helpful. Two men showed up when we docked and were very helpful. Check in was effortless. The marina was clean and well cared for. Our club was welcomed and we got the use of the pavillion for our low country boil. No negatives.

Welcoming Stopover or Destination Point, 2014-08-27
Captain: , Lighthouse Point Marina, St. Petersburg, FL (10)

Kevin, Mike, Phil and a nice young lady have always made our stopovers delightful. Easy access from GICW, nice slips with all services, good fuel prices and great restaurants - 1 on the property and one a short taxi boat ride to Rum Bay Key. Restrooms and showers are kept clean and pool-side services complete the package.

windy welcome, 2014-04-09
Captain: , iuka,ms (222)

we arrived with about a 20 mph wind we were greated by 3 very helpful folks who actually knew what, to do with the lines ,what a concept..clean , not crowded, good restaurant..great experience

Very nice facilities, good help getting docked.
Leverrocks Resturant on premises was just OK at our visit.

Palm Island Marina, 2013-12-24
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Not planning on stopping but extremely pleased we did. Wonderful protected marina with great amenities including complimentary laundry services. Courtesy car. Nicely appointed bath and shower area. Heated pool and hot tub. Poolside grill/kitchen. Restaurant onsite serving brunch, lunch and dinners. Water-taxi service to gulf beach. Excellent WiFi!

Fun Fun Fun, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Sarasota (195)

The marina is a tight fit but worth the trouble. Great Dockhands help you get in your slip. Pool, Group Kitchen, Grill, Great for Boat Clubs. Restaraunt on site or a short water taxi away on the island.

Great weekend place, 2013-07-29
Captain: , Indian Rocks Beach (296)

We were just passing through the area and stayed for one night, but would love to return for a longer visit. Extremely helpful staff to help tie up and for departure, gerat facilities including pool and showers, on site restaurant and water taxi to others. Fun group of cruisers staying in the marina too.

pleasant stop on ICW, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Tampa, Florida (223)

Weather turned ugly, so we ducked in from the gulf at Venice and ended up at Palm Island Marina. This is a quaint little marina with an excellant, friendly staff. Great fish restaurant on sight, right at the docks, pool and hot tub . . . free beer on Saturdays poolside! Summertime is slow and it was easy to get a spot. Easy approach off the ICW, right at the Palm Island Ferry. There is an inexpensive water taxi at the marina that will take you to the beautiful beaches there or to a fish restaurant. We will return when in the area. Oh -- AT&T is only a couple of bars, but the marina has its own free wifi, which was helpful.

It top Shelf, 2013-05-21
Captain: , East Greenwich RI (504)

I would only sau that this is our third visit here in two years. Evey time it is planned as a one night layover--we always seem to fall in love again and dtay two --or three!! That about says it all. With a bike Publics is 1.5 miles south--road a bit scary but I ride facing trafic and dive for the grass if the car or truck looks like he wqnts to play chicken!!

Great marina on the ICW, 2013-05-04
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

We have been here numerous times. Some of the friendiest staff you will ever meet. Right on the ICW, well marked . Quality always good. Fueling and pump out easy. Overnite guests or cruising groups treated very well. Great pool/hot tub/showers/BBQ grill/party area next to docks. Very secure. Johnny Leverocks Restaurant onsite--excellent. Condo rental available for extra land guests. Water taxi minimal fee to Rum Bay resort. PI dockage gives use to beach and Rum Bay Restaurant/Ice Cream. Grocery/hardware/restaurants within 1/2 mile on busy road. Transportation can be arranged-see staff.

Value and Quality, 2013-05-02
Captain: , Sarasota (110)

Our 2nd stay over 2 years and the positives remain high. Helpful, knowledgable staff. Great facilities. Both of our overnight visits were in April (2011 and 2013) and we had an excellend experience both times, so the service is consistently good. Tim Lynch is the manager. Dane assisted. Easy access off the ICW. Excellent dock rate.

very helpful staff, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (80)

We stopped here for some diesel repairs and were impressed with the helpfulness and expertise of all the staff. Enjoyed Leverocks restaurant on-site, free beer poolside on Saturday, and the discounted water taxi ride to the resort on the barrier island. It's a long way from shopping, but a staff member drove us to Publix for groceries.
Also, Wayne at Certified Diesel (941-475-7270) correctly diagnosed and quickly fixed our engine problem.

Great Place, 2013-03-30
Captain: , Gulfport, MS (321)

Ducked in here after finding our planned anchorages untenable due to extremely high winds for an extended period. A bit tight to turn a 48.5' single screw sailboat (no bow thruster) in a roaring north wind, but we finally managed. The same north wind had unfortunately lowered water levels about a foot below normal, so reported depths were not found - ran aground on south corner of E dock, so if you draw 6' as we do, be careful in this area. In spite of these problems and in a large part due to the helpfulness of the staff, we finally managed to get alongside and spend 2 great nights waiting for the winds to abate. Great amenities as mentioned in other reviews, plus the laundry facilities are free, which is a plus. The amenities and the staff more than made up for the somewhat pricey slip fee. Would definitely stay again in the future.

Very relaxing, 2013-03-27
Captain: , Deltaville, Va. (50)

Slips are a bit narrow, but adequate for our Albin 28. Larger vessels accomodated on the ends easily. Absolutely love the pool and hot tub. Clean showers and rest rooms. We stayed here several times and will continue doing so

Nice Place, 2013-03-07
Captain: , Doylestown, Pa. 18902 (414)

Fixed docks, pilings, nice facilities, hot tub, pool, gas dock, gas and diesel a little high. Pleny of parking for trucks and trailers if you trailer here. There is an area next to the pool deck where there is a grill microwave and a refrigerator with ice. You can prepare a meal there and use the existing tables which was really great. It saves the clean up of cooking on board. There was one bossy female dock person who rubbed a few people the wrong way but other than Ms.Snipit the place is A#1. Decent restaurant on site. D.D.

One of the all around best, 2013-03-02
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

We stayed here for 5 weeks. Very nice and clean facilities. We had a vehicle so going to the stores and travel to things was not an issue. Publix, Post Office and restaurant are all within 2 miles. Be careful if you intend to bike this route, there is no accommodation for bikes. There is a restaurant on site and also on the island across the ICW. Staff are all very helpful, friendly and accommodating. They could spruce up the meeting area a bit and keep up with some daily maintenance of the walkway and landscape, so that would be my only helpful suggestion to them . A definite return next year for us.

Great facility, but not much within walking distance, 2013-02-27
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1659)

Nice place, fairways a little narrow. Facilities excellent.

Nice stop-ok resteraunt if not busy, 2013-02-21

Becoming a regular stop for us, 2013-02-06
Captain: , Racine (121)

This is the second year we have stayed at Palm Island Marina. The facilities are very good.

We trailer a small boat (21ft Ranger Tug). There is a public ramp south of the marina that is convenient for us. Palm Island and their boating customers have always made us feel welcome.

Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (168)

Friendly, nice pool w/spa, great restaurant on-site, clean showers/baths. Easy access to beautiful Stump Pass and a nice run south to Gasparilla. We primarily anchor out but this is one we really enjoy for a low key stay with all the convieniences.

Good place to spend the night., 2012-11-21

Albin Owner's Group 2013 Rendezvous, 2012-11-17
Captain: , Whitfield Estates, Sarasota, FL (963)

By: Chuck Waygood on Wed Nov 14, 2012 9:54 pm
Thanks to the currently anonymous ladies committee, the 2013 Florida Albin Owners rendezvous was set for the Palm Island Marina arriving on Tuesday April 9 and departing on Friday April 12. In reserving that time with the marina, the "Committee" also designated Chuck Waygood as the "Cruise Leader" with the obligation to collect names, boat length (by model), etc and advise the marina to avoid individual contacts. (Thanks, guys) The charge will be $1.90 a foot per night.

Great Place, 2012-11-02
Captain: , Palmetto (412)

We have been traveling to Palm Island Marina for 10 plus years and it is a great location to spend a couple of days enjoying the pool, the beach, or a meal at Johnny Leverocks restaurant. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We always look forward to stopping here on our travels.

Great If You Want Quiet, 2012-08-14
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (130)

A nice marina with great staff. Nothing to do in the area. The two restaurants have decent but not great food. Great price on diesel fuel when we were there.

Terrific Dock Staff, 2012-04-01
Captain: , walpole, me (101)

We stayed 2 nights on our way up the Intercoastal and liked it so well we stayed 3 more nights on the way back and invited friends to join us. Wonderful, helpful, staff. Good restaurant on site and another on the island a short ferry ride away. Beautiful pool and clean restrooms and showers.

Good Facility.....Overpriced, 2012-01-16
Captain: , Edenton, NC (887)

Protected marina, nice staff, good restaurant. But seemed overpriced in general. They advertise pumpout at every slip. But charge $20 to wheel the pumpout cart to you. No thanks.

Great Stopover, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Flagler Beach, Florida 32136 (305)

Visited Palm Island in April 2011. Hot weather, but a great marina. Friendly dockmaster and stall. Great resturant on site. A very plesant stay over night. Ferry is dangerous, So watch out for Ferry.

Great Destination, 2011-09-05
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

We visit Palm Island Marina several times each year. The dock hands are well trained and very helpful. The pool and hot-tub are terrific. There is also a boater's pavilion under cover with tables and chairs and a small kitchen. There is a gas grill also. Leverocks Restaurant is on site and quite good. A shuttle boat runs out to Palm Island and Rum Bay restaurant. This is definitely worth a stopover.

Great Stop, 2011-02-17
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

Well protected spot... we waited out a northern blow for a day here. Nice facilities, restaurant on premisis and helpful staff. There is a boat yard near by that is beginning to stock some parts. They can order in parts and have them the next day. Well protected harbor, if you are north bound, make sure you follow the channel markers as you actually have to pass the entrance to Palm Island to make the approach. Otherwise the water gets skinny quickly. We bumped going in, but plenty of water inside.

First Class All The way, 2011-01-25
Captain: , Dockside Boat Slips (261)

We will not pass Palm Island without spending at least one night. This place surley has to rate in one of the top 10 Marina's. The staff are so friendly, nothing is to much trouble, heated pool, protected basin, spotless showers, even a gas grill and kitchen for transients to use. Lever Rocks, If you are traveling the ICW on the West Coast of Florida, this marina needs to be on your list.

Our favorite spot in SW FL, 2010-05-19
Captain: , MA and Southwest FL (538)

This facility has the friendliest and most helpful staff anywhere. Add to that a great sheltered location, pool, clean and modern restrooms/showers, food and you have one of the regions best destinations for a night, week or monthlong stay.

The restaurant on site is hit or miss (not owned by marina), but be sure to visit Rum Bay Restaurant on Palm Island by your own boat, tender or take the taxi. They have the best ribs around!!!

We stayed here in April 2008 and the place is great. The transient rate was $2/ft/nt. The staff is very friendly and the place is outstanding. Free laundry. If wifi was free this place would be perfect, but wifi is $10/nt or $30/mn.

Friendly staff and they go out of their way to work with boat clubs. Agree that the local restaurants are just so-so but otherwise and excellent experience.

agree dock staff, pool, pool area and docks are top notch. from there it was down hill -- restaraunt on site was blah and poor service, we took ferry to restaraunt on island for a better meal. Ferry was fun, good service, poor food. Again maybe we hit it on a bad weekend, but three stars due to restaraunts otherwise 4 or 5 star.

The best marina in the area for clubs. They bend over backwards to make groups feel wanted.

Have visited several time with boating clubs. Pool and meeting areas available. Ferry available to go to Don Pedro State Park which has an attractive restaurant. Good restaurant on site.

We visit here several times a year and Palm Island has the friendliest and most helpful staff around. The pool is located right at the docks. There is a covered area for groups to get together next to the pool. There is one good restaurant on site and another a 20 min. water taxi ride away at Palm Island Resort.

Very Friendly Palm Island Marina, 2007-01-29

Very friendly dock staff, nice pool and rest. (Liverrocks) near the docks with an up-scale rest. and beach resort connected by ferry. Limited dockage for boats 40 ft. and over. Normally best fuel prices in the area
