Reviews for Otter Bay Marina
great spot, 2014-09-01
Captain: , Blaine WA (101)

quiet spot, nice facilities including pool. Good restaraunt, great views and well protected.

Clean, beautiful and great for kids, 2014-08-25
Captain: , Seattle (60)

We just spent two nights in Otter Bay and will definitely be back. We originally reserved one night, but the kids didn't want to leave. They were having a great time in the pool and puttering around the bay in the dinghy. Otter Bay is small enough to be peaceful and feel remote, but the facilities are new and clean. The pools are small and well maintained . The family pool is shared with the resort, but was never crowded during a mid-week stay in August. My only complaint is the weak wifi in the marina, but that may be due to poor island connectivity.

Wonderful facilities but avoid, 2014-08-15

We will not be returning to Otter Bay after our recent, very short, rude and abrupt visit. We have enjoyed staying at Otter Bay over the years because of the beautiful setting and excellent facilities. Although we did not have a reservation we were verbally given permission by staff to tie our dinghy to the dock (in a relatively small space) for two hours, with approval from the office. I gladly paid for the temporary moorage and was welcomed to the resort by the two people behind the counter in the gift shop/store. After being welcomed I went out to the covered patio to read some email on my phone and enjoy the surroundings. I was abruptly interrupted by the owner accusing me of avoiding him and that I had to move our dinghy immediately because the space was reserved. Although I attempted to apologize (3 times) and find a remedy to the situation, I was further berated and told that I was %u201Csneaky%u201D and %u201Chad the gall to steal someone%u2019s reserved space%u201D. As demanded, we will not be returning in our boat, or any other mode of transport, to Otter Bay Marina. I am very confident that the situation could have been solved in a more civil manner to the benefit of all concerned. We will no longer recommend Otter Bay Marina to friends and associates and will suggest that they avoid the marina and resort altogether.

Nice but expensive, 2014-04-05

This marina is a nice facility with very friendly staff but it is a premium price to pay for what is available.

Otter Bay Marina, 2013-08-29

Only been here twice, discoverd this last year and it is a great spot. Not as fancy as Poet's Cove but definitely five stars. Great help in docking from shore staff. Lovely restaurant, swimming pool and nice people. Nice hiking and ferry dock nearby. Ferry dock was a great benefit to allow crew member who missed his flight from Dallas to catch up with us. Have stayed here a few more times and our opinion remains the same. Nice spot with good people running it. Pool here is very nice on a warm summer day. Is a busy place in the summer.

UPDATED August 2013 Great Marina- more friendly than some say!, 2013-08-27
Captain: , Novelty, WA (214)

Update from August 2013: Great stay- helpful folks, the rules aren't so big a deal, the laundry is good, the power solid, the docks nice, and the pool is great. The pub has cut back a little on some of the hot food items, but the short hike to "the stand" at the ferry dock was worth the walk, and the wait! Order half of what you think you need and share the burger with a friend, trust me!

Otter is a great stop, and it RAINED when we were there. And we still had a good time. We'll be back!

August 2012: Yes, there are signs everywhere, and you can't buy stuff here at anything approaching reasonable prices.

BUT- the pool is great, the food is great (try the cocunut shrimp!), and the dock is in GREAT shape. Best POWER we've ever had- very reliable, stable 120v power. With our AC units cranked! Stayed two nights, had a great time- good people, clean- really clean, clean laundry, great pool. We will be back. Signs and all.

Funny about the signs- guy has his dog relieving itself on the grass marked "no pets". About 20 feet away- grass marked "pet area".

Amazing- people don't know how to follow signs and then we wonder why the owners put them up. NUTS.

Excellent marina, 2012-06-21

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The washroom facilities is in great shape and spotless. Pender island is a nice island for wandering around after a day of sailing. The shops are not great with very limited supplies.

Beautiful Facilities, Mixed Staff, 2011-08-22
Captain: , Portland (100)

As reviewed by others, the investment in the facilities is beautiful. However, the grounds are missing a warm, friendly atmosphere. Signs everywhere that admonish one to let dogs here, not let dogs there, don't play soccer here, etc. Just seems a little to orchestrated. Some of the staff are fabulous, the manager is a bit bossy. We will come back, as I suspect the new-ish owners will settle in to more of a laid-back attitude.

Great Experience, 2011-08-16
Captain: , Seattle (690)

Very well-kept facilities with friendly, helpful staff. Two pools - lower for adults, upper for families. Great showers in the changing rooms at the family pool. Very pretty grounds. Scooter rentals available for Island exploring. We'll be back here.

Old favorite, 2011-03-12
Captain: , Sidney BC, Canada (271)

Spent many a weekend here over the last 30 years in good company. Great facilities, two pools, barbeques, store and close to the golf course with a ride to and from. New docks and power. Good managers who really want to make your stay pleasant.

Great dock master and port, 2011-01-30
Captain: , Olalla, WA (342)

We had a great time. Two pools, one for adults and the larger one for kids with adults... Restuarant has sweat rolls in the AM and you MUST order the bugers for dinner at least one time. Be sure to order at least 30 mins prior to closing. Showers were the cleanest we had on a 5 week outing. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to be. We ran into a podf of Orcas mid morning outside of the marina. Be sure to stay clear of going between the marked buoy and the docks as you approach the marina. Low tide will still not expose a good size rock but you will find it if you have anything over a 1 foot draft.

Great Rolls for breakfast

Beautifully Kept Marina, 2010-10-16
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (177)

Excellent shore facilities. Well kept grounds, swimming pool, excellent food and special dinners held periodically cooked by well known Chef.

We had problems with Anchor Dragging in bay (Sandy bottom) and they took us in as winds were rising with no reservations. Very helpful staff who help you dock and provide great support.

Great stop!, 2010-07-23
Captain: , Brownsville, WA (558)

New management is customer oriented and is a boat owner. Very helpful staff genuinely concerned that your stay is a pleasant one.

Expensive transient moorage, 2009-09-01
Captain: , Whidbey Island, WA (191)

Otter Bay is a nice marina but most Canadian BC marinas offer either free or low cost moorage for a few hours, Otter Bay charges 1/2 of the overnight moorage cost. We were ready to stop and visit their restaurant this lat weekend but the $20 cost to moor for "up to 5 hours" put us off.

A nice surprise, 2008-08-26
Captain: , Victoria BC (41)

Brand new docks, very clean facility. 2 swimming pools, one for families, the lower one for adults only. Bicycles and scooters for rent as well as kayaks, so there's lots of potential for activities. The only thing I would have liked to see that's not there is a tennis court.

Nice, family oriented marina., 2008-08-15
Captain: , Langley, BC (6)

Updated, clean facilities, but still small and intimate.General store in main building is thoughtfully stocked (not a grocery store, but enough to cover things you forgot). One of our family favourites, and as 'upscale' as I care to go. I don't golf, but it is nearby. Driftwood Mall is about an hour walk away.
