Reviews for Oriental Marina
Very nice Marina., 2016-11-16
Captain: , Wickford, RI (380)

After a very long day, we decided to pull into Oriental for the evening.
We called for reservations, due to our width we only fit on the gas dock. As stated is several reviews, they are very good at handling lines and helping you in us in. Once in they gave us a overview of the area, where the Grocery store is, and places to buy supplies. The people in Orient are the friendliest of any town we have visited.

Wonderful Marina, Great Staff, 2016-09-29
Captain: , Chapin sc (250)

Stopped here for an overnight. Great location. Easy to get in to. The dock master and his staff came out in the pouring rain to help us. They were fantastic! The showers/bathroom were extremely clean and they provide towels, bar soap, and shampoo. Cleanest showers we had seen on our trip. Also has a great tiki bar - great place to spend some time. Oriental is a wonderful area. Also check out M&M for lunch or dinner - delish!!!!!

Quiet place to stop, 2016-09-12
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

Oriental is a nice peaceful stop. No wake. Not a lot of car noise etc. It has at least 2 very good restaurants close by. Toucans and M&M both have great food and full bar. Marina has a pool and a Tiki bar also. There is a really good Marine parts store (Provision Company) within a block of the the marina. Very friendly. On our way to the store a gentleman stopped and offered us a ride. Took us to the grocery, waited for us and then brought us back to the marina. Stopped again In September, 2016. There is something special about being able to walk off your boat right into a really nice restaurant, or Tiki Bar or a nicely maintained pool.

Local's Opinion, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Oriental, NC (160)

While I am a resident of Oriental we have two boats frequently needing fuel (me too at the Tiki Bar) so I have the opportunity to be at the docks and observe how other boats are handled on the radio, docking and fueling. As we travel this is the standard we hold other marinas to and it is the way we expect to be handled. If they could all be like this, clean, polite, well maintained, reviews would not be necessary.

Great time, very convenient, 2016-06-29
Captain: , Havre De Grace MD (130)

Great overnight at this marina. Well protected and very helpful stafff. They went above and beyond to assist us. I highly recomened them again and will be back next time.

Great stay at the Inn and the Marina, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Oriental, NC (10)

We had a very pleasant stay at the inn while finishing some boat projects at a local boat yard. We enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we returned on the boat and stayed at the marina. Tom and the staff made us feel more than welcome on both occasions. For us, the process of entering a boat slip is aptly characterized as mayhem. Thanks to Tom%u2019s exceptional directions and line handling, the process was smooth as silk. In fact, we received an unsolicited compliment on our docking skills from some folks on a neighboring boat. They said %u201CIt looked like a ballet%u201D. That, my friends, is a first for us. Thanks Tom %u2013 we will be back soon for more dance lessons.

Cant beat it, 2016-05-21
Captain: , Apex, NC (85)

You cant beat the kind staff and local influence. Facility isn't best kept or cleanest but that makes it all part of the charm. Loved it

Six Star Service, 2016-05-06
Captain: , Annapolis (30)

Dockmaster Tom and his staff are exceptional. We came into Oriental thinking we had a transmission linkage problem only to find we needed a new transmission and a haul out for the work to be done. We couldn't stay on the boat while the work was being done. Tom made a suite at their inn available to us and helped us make the best of a bad situation. The Marina has sturdy docks, great line handling help to get in and out of the slip, fuel at your slip, wonderful clean showers, location right in the heart of a wonderful town. Highly recommend this Marina.

Quiet, Quaint and super clean, 2016-04-27
Captain: , Chattanooga (220)

These guys know how to run a Marina. The showers include clean towels and toiletries. They greet and assist you with expert advice when arriving. The little town is authentic coastal, making it easy to imagine days past. One of our favorite stops of the whole ICW.

Great little town, with nice little marina, 2016-04-26
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Really shouldn't miss Oriental, and this is the marina to stay at to best enjoy the town. Grocery store coming soon!

quiet in Oreintal, 2015-11-19
Captain: , annapolis, MD (120)

nice small marina, very protected and quiet. Onsite restaurant and active tiki bar. Showers are nice and they provide towels, soap and shampoo!

Very Hospitable, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Florida (50)

We arrived and the dock master was down to help us tie up. Bar and restaurant on site that had good reviews. Friendly staff and they supply towels, soap and shampoo for their showers. We stayed two nights due to the weather.

NICE MARINA, 2015-10-27
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1533)

Good help in docking. Clean showers and bathrooms. Although we didn't use it there was a pool and Tiki bar available. At $1.90, the rate seemed a bit high for the area, but they did include electric

Pleasantly surprised!, 2015-10-22
Captain: , Bay City, MI (609)

At $1.90 we were not excited to dock there, but we needed a spot. The dockmaster was great and guided us into a slip quite far down the way. He helped us back in and tie up. The $1.90 included electricity so it was about the same price as Dowry Creek the night before, but we are in town with restaurants and a West Marine nearby. The bathrooms include towels and hairdryers. Ice is free!

What more do you need! I rarely give 5 stars, but all the amenities and people put me over the top!

Great stop, 2015-10-18
Captain: , Cape May, NJ (130)

Great stop, helpful staff, nice tiki bar. Shower excellent with towels soap and blow dryers provided. Dock staff helpful , fixed wood docks.

Easy in, easy out, 2015-10-16
Captain: , Little River, SC (731)

Took the long outer wall and everything was great. Great, solid docks. Cleats would be nice, but plenty of bollards to tie to. Long walk to marina office, but great opportunity to see some of the town along the way. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Very nice town. West Marine less than a milke from the marina. Highly recommended.

Pump out would make it 5 stars, 2015-10-14
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Very convenient location and helpful dock staff. Quick to answer phone and Vhf, good with local information. Lots of help with lines when docking. If running late and marina full, they sometimes can accomodate you in the fuel dock well.

Very clean restroom/showers, towels and soap provided. Tiki Bar and nice seating are outside along the docks. Restaurant on site, others close by.

Free bike loan available at nearby Waterway Provisions. New Walmart Express on Broad St., about 1 mile from marina, light traffic getting there. You'll pass a large marine consignment shop and a West Marine Express on the way to Walmart, Note: Other local grocery store on Broad St. going out of business, 10/2015.

Good Location, 2015-10-10
Captain: , Hull, MA (700)

Marina has easy access off the ICW. The staff is very helpful in getting you tied up to your slip.(fixed docks). Nice facility that has a grass area with adirondack chairs, swimming pool, tiki bar and restaurant. Marina located right in downtown Oriental. There is also a Framers Market on Saturday year round. Diesel fuel at $ 2.15/gal and dock space at $1.90/ft

Super Location, 2015-07-11
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (618)

Nice location, great pool, restaurant and tiki bar. Staff were very courteous and professional.

Came to Repair Dinghy, Stayed because very nice, 2015-06-17
Captain: , Charleston SC (733)

We came o get our dinghy repaired by the inflatable Boat Co. The facilities are really nice and at $1.90 a foot we really appreciated using our A/C in the 95+ degrees heat. The pool was a nice feture and the Toucan restaurant serves good food and a small but tasty selection of microbrews. Docking was easy with lots of competent help... We left early so no help there but still not too bad with no currents or tides to contend.

Great Stop , 2015-06-02
Captain: , Daytona (410)

May 18th 2015

We made this a 2 night stay. Plenty of help getting in and settled. Clean facility, bath house, laundry and pool. Convenient to Tiki Bar and on site restaurant. Quaint little fishing town was awesome to walk around the neighborhoods.

No Pump out and fuel line wouldn't reach our slip so we opted to leave without either.

Only downside is that the grocery that is within walking distance is trying to be too "organic" to have basic grocery items.

Great stop for a couple nights as long as restaurant is open.

Mass Confusion, 2015-05-20
Captain: , Venice (589)

After reading reviews we selected this marina over the Oriental Harbor Marina. Called ahead by phone and made a reservation (5/15/2015) for one night. Were told they were very busy but could put us on the face dock. OK. When we arrived, they put on the face dock of Oriental Harbor Marina, not at all what we expected. Supposedly the dockmaster at The Harbor Marina can't keep up with the transient traffic so Marina & Inn handles that and unless you have a reservation well in advance don't expect to stay at the Marina & Inn. And then to top it off, as more boats came in (the last of the northern migration?) they were put in inside slips!

3 May 2015 Sunday night stay, 2015-05-05
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (640)

Marina has best VHF info when callling in. Good info to get you started and a call back point to provide more info. Excellent staff to help tie up and connect all shore services. Slips close to grass for dog, TIKI bar for drinks and restaurant to eat. Close by town and a reall community atmosphere. Bath and laundry facilities great. Yep, it's now our favorite and 5 stars.

One of our favorite towns, 2015-05-02
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

Stayed the night of 4/24/15. Free city docks were full, so stayed at Oriental Marina and Inn. Easy in/out and very protected. Great walking around the town. Great walking around a neat little town.

Oriental is a nice stop, 2015-04-19
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

Oriental is a nice very small town stop. However, the transient slips, for both the adjacent Oriental Harbor Village and Oriental Marina are $1.90/ft and the transient slips are book for both facilities at this Oriental Marana. There are no AGLCA or MTOA discounts, and no weekly rates afe offered.

Wonderful Marina, 2015-04-19
Captain: , Hampton, VA (361)

We stayed here two night on 13-14 Apr 2015 and its a great place to stop. Marina very efficient and had us in the slip and fueled up within 30 minutes of arriving. Easy in and out and the town is wonderful. Great coffee shop across the street and local marine stop next door allows cruisers to use bikes for free. Easy biking to local stores and great just to see the town. Marina has very nice facilities...showers and provides towels also. The Tiki Bar out back is a good watering hole and the locals and cruisers hang out there in the evenings. A great stop and one that we will visit again on our way north and south.

Great stop for diesel, 2014-12-02
Captain: , Chapin, South Carolina (410)

Tom, dock master, was very pleasant and helped us fuel up. The diesel prices were the best in the area. Oriental is a wonderful town Don't miss it!

Every stay has been great, 2014-11-19
Captain: , CapnPMF (100)

I've been here a few times and it has always been pleasant and secure. Facilities are nice and manager is exceptionally helpful.

Great Fuel Stop, 2014-10-14
Captain: , Lizella GA (1414)

I stopped here for fuel and Tom the Dock Master was the greatest. He is helpful, complementary and knowledgable and the fuel prices were lower than most. It also looks like agreat stop for a couple of days. Very interesting town.

An Inn with a marina, 2014-09-30
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

One gets the best of both worlds here. Marina is part of the front lawn of the Inn giving the marina very nice ambiance. On site restaurant and tiki bar. Relatively short fingured fixed docks but pilings between slips protect boats from their neighbors. Coffee shop across the street. The harbor is both working and pleasure and both seem to coexist nicely.

Competent and friendly staff, fuel and good power. Well worth a stop for a night or longer.

Picturesque and Friendly, 2014-08-18
Captain: , New Bern (30)

We spent 4 days aboard our Grand Banks 42 at the marina and enjored every minute. The fixed docks were solid, if narrow, with pilings to maneuver against. Tom, the dockmaster, was most helpful taking lines and shorepower. The docks front on a grassy lawn with adirondack chairs for lounging. The bathrooms were spotless and the showers offered unlimited towels, shampoo and soap. An outdoor Tiki bar by the swimming pool fills up with a friendly crowd of locals and boaters. We had four meals at the Toucan restaurant and the shrimp, fresh-off- the boat--literally--were as good as it gets. In the morning, the Bean coffee house acrtoss the street is the spot for a selection of excellent coffees, bagels, coffee cake and the like. Refills are only a $1.00. This is a commercial shrimping port and we enjoyed the sight of the big boats docking and leaving. Be warned that they dock over the weekend and keep their generators runnings to maintain the minus 30 temp of the reefers. It wasn't loud enough to bother conversation or sleep but there was an everpresent background noise. Oriental is a quaint village and a convenient jumping off port for cruisers headed to beaufort or Ockrcoke

Be warned that over the wee

nd they run their generators and keep their big halohen lights on.

Didn't work out for us..., 2014-07-28
Captain: , Hamilton, Ontario (612)

If you have a south wind and draw 7 feet or more, you will run aground and be put on a wall that keeps you up all night...

Thank you Tom, 2014-05-24
Captain: , Macatawa Michigan (1104)

We were planning on an anchorage but with tide, current and crab pots ended up making a nervous call in near dark on a windy Memorial Day weekend. Tom calmly directed us in and helped secure us for the night. We will be back and we appreciate his kindness. Marina itself was great!!

Had a problem with engine....., 2014-05-14
Captain: , Virginia Beach (10)

Was motoring to Beaufort and developed what I thought was a rope around my shaft. Pulled into Oriental. Tom could not have been morer helpful.... tieing up, power, water; called two divers, etc. I had no rope so I decided to leave and head to Bluewater. They shook my hand and said "no charge". I cannot tell you more about how nice it was to deal with such helpful people. I WILL return!!!

Check before docking, 2014-05-12
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

We pulled in yesterday after making a reservation and giving our LOA depth and beam.
The slip assignment was pretty tight I was told they were 19' wide but with a 15'5" beam we only just squeezed in. Then they said they were only 17' wide, I don't think so.
We draw 5'6" and I double checked the depth with the dock master that said they were all 6'. After docking the slips were only 5' and 3' at the front , I was told that was due to the strong winds on the sound, which is strange as it was like glass crossing over.
When I mentioned to the dock master that giving us accurate measurements was important he told me that I didn't really need the draft I was claiming, that didn't sit well.
The town is cute and we enjoyed walking around.
Other boaters there were super friendly but the marina could gave been more honest with docking information.

Pump out Service in Oriental , 2014-05-11
Captain: , Oriental, NC (88)

Deatons Yacht Service also has a good pumpout for $5. Deatons is on Whittaker Creek.

OK but a little tired, 2014-05-07
Captain: , Bristol, RI (386)

The docks are non-floating short finger piers. They are ok but not great. The pilings have nothing to hold your line out of the water. The restrooms are clean but small, old, poorly equiped (i.e. no hooks, etc.) and the provided towels are at least 15 years old. The marina part of this marina/inn needs a facelift.

Nice stop over, 2014-04-27
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (215)

I only wish that I had more time. Over night stay, very good restaurant.

Best location in Oriental, 2014-04-07
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (370)

Very friendly, nice facilties, right in town in Oriental.

Best Place to tie up in Oriental, 2013-10-25
Captain: , Swansboro (664)

Love this place.

Nothing better than sitting at the Tiki Bar, with a cool drink, listening to live music, while enjoying the beautiful view over Racoon Creek.

Great marina staff that will attend to every need.

Oriental Marina and Hotel, 2013-10-22
Captain: , Quoset Daviseville Naval Yacht Club (250)

Small marina near town docks, we were here Oct. 21, 13 and all docks were in use. When you pull in does not look like much but once tied up marina and hotel is very nice.

Fingers are short, docks are not floating but no tide either in this area. Easy entrance to harbour and marina with plenty of water for large boats. Well sheltered marina. Good access to hardware store, no shuttle to West Marine or food store and not much available in the immediate area to walk to. Great area for a bike.

Did not check fuel prices but they fuel you in the slip. Great overnight, lots of locals that come down to meet cruisers.

Bathrooms in great condition and nicely appointed. Docks in good shape, outside bar that opens at 5 PM and restaurant on premise that is moderately priced and good.

Rate 1.90 foot with 30 amp electrical cord.

Neat small town, 2013-10-20
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Well protected marina. Wi-fi, fuel, towels and soap/shampoo in restroom. Location is perfect. Town should be named the town of dogs- many dogs and dog friendly. Neat small time- very historic. Great stop. Good stop for a few days. Resturant and Tiki bar on site.

Very firendly place, 2013-08-16
Captain: , Chester, Maryland (30)

On our way back north in August 2013 we stopped here for an overnight. Really nice little place. Great people who run the marina. This is a very boating centric town and the locals welcome transients with open arms. The Tiki bar was fun. Didn't get to eat at the restaurant on site but I heard from multiple people it was great. Supposedly the seafood is the thing to order as it comes in right off the fishing boats there in the harbor. When we were there it was $1.90 per foot including electric. I would definitely stop here again.

Nice Place, 2013-06-28
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1124)

6-27-2003
A previous review said the fingers were short, but when we came in we asked and were given a 32 foot finger which allowed us to exit amidships on our 36 foot boat. Some of the fingers are short but they have different sized slips and try to put the smaller boats in those slips. Best thing to do is ask, and the dock masters are very competent at getting you in and tied properly. This is more protected than the other larger marina. Both are fixed docks so be prepared with fenderboards or what have you, but very little tide that I saw. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Very friendly place., 2013-06-16
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1520)

We often try to get the free dock in Oriental, this time it was full. We called the office for a slip and were met promptly at the dock. Dockmaster very helpful and the place is a very parklike setting. Pool, tiki bar, clean bathrooms and showers complete with soap, shampoo, and towels. Well worth the price and I might even skip the free dock next time by and go back here.

Oriental Marina, 2013-06-12
Captain: , Freeport, Maine (175)

Wonderful, cozy little marina right in the center of the village of Oriental within walking distance of several restaurants, coffee shop, and marine hardware store. Only about eight slips, fixed piers, but does have gasoline and diesel pumps. Operates as part of a motel and restaurant complex. Nice facilities. Dockmaster was particularly helpful. Cinnamon Girl came in during a windy, torrential downpour and the dockmaster and a helper were out there in the middle of the storm guiding us in (we hadn't been there before) and getting us safely tied off.
Perfect location.

great place to spend a few days, 2013-06-02
Captain: , Southport NC (71)

One of the best marina's in NC. Savvy dock people, pool, great bathrooms with towels and soap. Tiki bar and restaurant and more in the area. My favorite stop!

Had a nice stay, 2013-05-21
Captain: , St Petersburg, Fl (202)

We stayed here on 5-08-13 and were very satisfied. Staff very friendly and helpful and facility was very clean. It is a quaint town with several restaurants within walking distance. A well stocked marine store withing walking distance as well.

Marina, Music, Art, Food All Good, 2013-05-12
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

Got to Oriental for the Annual Art Festival just by chance and we were lucky to get a slip. We were going to stay two nights, but had to leave after only one day to catch a good weather window. The marina has alot of charm, very professional staff, and they treated us like guests. There was live music all afternoon and evening right at the docks. The Toucan Grill had everything we needed to eat and the Tiki Bar was a fun place to sit and chat. Clean showers with complementary towels and soap. It has been a few years since we stopped here, but we will be back.

Nice place, 2013-03-29
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1063)

There's not a lot of room here, but this is the place to stay in Oriental. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are nice. There is a marine store 1 block away and several restaurants nearby.

Oasis in the heart of Oriental, 2012-12-11
Captain: , Hilton Head Island (86)

Everything you need except pump out. Friendly restaurant, Tiki bar on site where locals hangout who enjoy talking with transients. Monday night is Men's night at the Tiki Bar.. Wednesday is Ladies' night.
We needed an oil change, the office arranged for Mike Craig to come out and do the work. When he opened the engine compartment we discovered our aft sump pump also quit working and then he discovered our choke was broke on the port engine. One thing after another but they all needed fixing right away. He did all of the work very quickly and professionally. When finished we expected a much larger repair bill than we received. We would come back just to use his services again.

We also made use of the Inland Waterway Provision Company where if they don't have what you need they will get it for you. They also have loaner bikes that you can take around town to do a little shopping. If you need a lot of groceries they also have a cart that tows behind a bike. Also free of charge, they do accept donations for maintenance.

The marina showers were nice but we really didn't like having to go through the office to get to them. They were clean with free towels, bath soap and shampoo.

We would stay here again.. so damn handy!

Short Finger Peirs, 2012-12-05
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (250)

Tight harbor as some have mentioned. My complaint is the length of the finger peirs. They are probably no more than 8 feet long, so one has to climb over the lifelines near the bow to carefully exit the boat.

That said, the rest of the facility was great, with clean showers, free soap, shampoo and towels. There was a resale marine store a half block away. We went in and bought a replacement bi-color light for our non-working bow light. I mentioned that I wanted to go to the grocery store. The man behind the counter said, I'll drive you, it's too far to walk and carry groceries back. I was taken aback, and declined, but he insisted. We drove to the store, he waited while I shopped and then we drove back. How great is that?

Good food, great location, 2012-11-30
Captain: , West Palm Beach (90)

Docked at the free city dock next door, but enjoyed a very nice dinner at the Tuocan Grill. I had some great steamed clams in a spicy broth followed by tasty ribs. It was a Friday night and there a lot of locals having a good old time. The bathrooms were very clean, and they provide towels for marina guests. They also had a nice firepit in the courtyard off the outside bar. They sponsor free Wifi for boaters in the vicinity. Nice folks.

Nice Stop at a good location, 2012-11-12
Captain: , New Bern (10)

Pulled in after a long no-wind day trip from New Bern. The free docks were taken so I pulled into an open slip here and the staff was immediatly helpful, helping us tie up and get everything situated. The bathrooms were clean and nice. It was my first overnight trip and this place really made it nice.

Nice place to stop, 2012-11-11
Captain: , Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (366)

Small marina with very little turning room, but can be done with little wind. Tiki Bar is very loud, caused by music and laughing. Restaurant is good but a bit pricey. Good showers, towel included. No Pump-out.

One of my favorites, 2012-11-11
Captain: , Knoxville, TN (30)

They don't do repairs, but they know great mechanics to get urgent repairs done well and fast. They helped us in 2007, and this week they hooked us up again with a great mechanic and helped us place an order for Yanmar parts in less than 24-hr. Meantime, we enjoy the Tiki Bar to the max. Love this place.

Oh my, the restaurant, Toucan!, 2012-11-04
Captain: , Roseville, MN (362)

Tired. Encountered some laughing behavior from other sailors as we tried to dock in a very small space. Bad feelings here. Dockmaster was trying to moderate the process. Near by boaters had too much to drink. Feelings hurt, we were really annoyed. Bathrooms very nice. Best was the Toucan Restarant. Great and quirky waitresses. Easily accepted our different dinner decisions. On restrooms I have encountered with reading material in the bathrooms. And all kinds of amenities. Verizon was yucky in slip #2. Wandered town trying to find a connection. At the Bean, there were really loud MEN. M & M Cafe does not open until 11. Found the marine supply store. Young woman at desk shared the name of their unlocked internet connection Figured out the plan and bought a number of things. She saved our impression of this town.

the only marina that had an opening, 2012-11-01
Captain: , Roseville MN (398)

It seems that many marinas in the southeast are competing for the worst marina prize, and I'd like to nominate this one. They compete for short finger piers and putting the docks as close together as possible so it is impossible to turn into a slip. And don't even get me started on pelican poles. Next time we won't come in so cold and tired, and early enough to anchor out.

Don't tell me I'm not aground!!, 2012-09-29
Captain: , Sydney (313)

Dock master was trying to tell me I was not aground and move forward 8 feet.
Please dont tell me there is water at the dock when there isn't!
Apart from that the marina was excellent, location terrific, restaurant was great.
If you are under 6 foot draft then it's a recommend, if 6 or more then cross question them and expect to sit in the mud.

For the marina: please dredge the slips.

Small, but comfortable, 2012-09-03
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Very warm hospitable staff, helpful in docking and local knowledge. Clean bathrooms with showers, small older laundry, but pricey at $2 per load. Pool and Tiki BAr make for a pleaseant afternoon on a hot day. Toucan's is probably the best restaurant in town with decent food and great desserts. No pump out.

Nice Place, 2012-06-12
Captain: , Between Boats, USA (623)

We took our trawler down to Oriental for their annual boat show, and after three attempts to make reservations, the stars finally aligned correctly for us to get there for the night.

First let me tell you what the office staff explained to me about the way things work at the two downtown marinas there. There is the Oriental Harbor Marina and the Oriental Marina and they are UNRELATED to each other. The Oriental Marina is the small marina that has about a dozen slips near the town dock. The Orientail Harbor is the big one by the bridge.

Be aware that the Oriental Marina controls their own slips, plus the outside face dock at the Oriental Harbor Marina, PLUS only four slips inside the Oriental Harbor. Basically, all the transient slips in Oriental are run by them. The Oriental Harbor is a private marina that doesn't have transient slips. It's a tad confusing, especially when you know you booked with the Oriental Marina, know you're staying in the slips at the Oriental Harbor, and call them on VHF. They both will answer.

The marina was pretty nice. The office was a LONG!!! walk from the slip for us, the bathrooms were good with new laundry machines, the docks were fixed but nice anyway. Where we were didn't use cleats on the dock (we only had one), so be prepared for pylon tie.

The only downside was the exposure to the southwest. And right on cue, a strong southwest blow came in that day. Figures, huh? So we spent the night checking lines and a fair bit of Vasoline to keep them quite through the chocks.

$1.90/ft. seems fair and downtown Oriental is a GREAT place to visit. And TBH, had we been in the slips in downtown, we would have been kept awake all night by the party and band that played until 11pm. And gosh, had we been on the ouside face dock in that SW blow, we probably would have had a horrible time. But we didn't and we'll be back in the future.

**Stayed there again this past weekend (6/10/2012), but were inside at the motel slips. Very different experience. Also a nice place to be, especially on a Sunday night. Tiki Bar closed early, but the Tucan Restaurant bar stayed open until we stopped spending money ;-)

I will return, 2012-05-20
Captain: , Wake Forest (31)

Great friendly little place. Very nice shower facility with towels, shampoo and soap provided. Many shops within walking distance. The Bean across the street was nice, didn't have to make coffee on the boat. I will return, often.

Friendly Place, 2012-05-09
Captain: , Saint Simons Island, GA (115)

Called ahead. Out of diesel but put us at the fuel dock. Most friendly and helpful getting in. Showers clean. Food good at restaurant.

A nice small marina, 2012-04-08
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (998)

Small but very friendly. Toucan restaurant on site, Bean coffee house across the street. Tiki bar on site. Generally like a private club with friendly boater managers. Dog friendly.

Great town, service is questionable, 2012-01-23
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

We've been to Oriental Marina 3 times and received unhelpful and sarcastic service each time. No floating docks and short fingers but easy to dock w/ no current and good shelter. There aren't many options here so despite that the town is still worth a return visit.

You'll want to come back too!, 2011-11-22
Captain: , Newport, R.I. (644)

My 3rd time here as this is one of my fav. stops. Bought fresh shrimp newly off the fleet that runs from out of this little harbour and several pounds of fish from "Buddy" whos little fish market is across the street within veiwing from the marina. He's open only 2 days a week.. I lucked out! Easy enterance and flat as can be water. West Marine, True Value and Grocery market all within short walk/bikeride. Little coffee shop across street next to the local Oriental Dragon.. you'll see :D

Great place to duck foul weather, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (768)

We were literally pinned to the dock for 2 days. Good wind & sea protection

A nice place to stay, 2011-11-15
Captain: , Mullica Hill, NJ (688)

This was our second time here and we still lament the lack of a nearby pumpout. However the town has lots to offer and the facility is top drawer.

Party Central, 2011-11-05
Captain: , Marathon (275)

We arrived for the first time on Halloween weekend 2011 not knowing what we were getting into. It was blowing 15 to 20 MPH out of the SE; on our beam when trying to turn into the slip. With the harbormaster's help we made it without mishap. Tom tied us up snugly and we were home for three nights. Thursday night was quiet. Fiday night there was a band at the tiki bar and Saturday night it was party time. The band started at 8 and quit at 12:30. Half the town was there in costume, it was quite a scene considering the wind was howling and it was cold. A local adopted us and took the Admiral shopping. All in all Oriental is a wonderful stop.

Tied up at the Toucan, 2011-10-31
Captain: , Kings Creek Marina (746)

We have stayed at the hotel many times, but this is the first time we%u2019ve come here by boat.
The staff here is very good, and will tie you up with very little fuss. Great people in the yard, all friendly and playful.
Looking forward to martinis and dinner tonight at the Toucan. No more %u201CDark and Stormies%u201D for me. Today on the Pamlico was Stormy enough

Low key and friendly but shalow with tight slips, 2011-10-28
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1288)

With only a dozen transient slips, this marina/hotel arrangement is popular and fills up quickly so be sure to make reservations ahead. Tom is the go-to guy and understands how to gets boats into and out of the very tight slips--listen to what he says and you'll be just fine. Excellent 240+ volt power. Lots of flies and mosquitos when we visited. The shoreward end of the slip was just too shallow for our 6-foot draft backed in--we were nestled deep in the mud and needed to apply lots of power to dig out on departure.

Nice Marina, 2011-10-26
Captain: , Boston (232)

The marina suffered some significant huricane damage. We stayed on a dock still without power at a discounted price of $1.25/ft. Nice area but watch out for mosquitoes!

No complaints, 2011-10-25
Captain: , Chicago (30)

Call ahead, they can get full quickly. Only one laundry machine. Lots of dogs, very pet friendly. They provide the towels for the showers too. Neat little town with marine provisions store just down the street and west marine a bike ride away.

Second visit, 2011-05-22
Captain: , Bagdad, Florida (286)

Sheltered marina with great dining on site. Tom is an experienced and helpful dockmaster.

May be our new favorite place!!, 2011-05-14
Captain: , Isle of Palms, SC (219)

5-14-11. We will be here for our 2nd night tonight. Quaint town--no, village-- with the friendliest people. Tom- dock master- expert with lines and good advice. No current or tide. At 4pm the Tiki bar opens and a lot of the locals gather. Sat night- live music. At the grill last night I had the scallops and shrimp pasta special and Jackie had stuffed fllounder-- both great. Tom also runs the grill. Rode bikes all over today-- West MArine, grocery and Deatons shipyard are all within a short ride away-- none more than a mile. Several other restaurants within walking- M&M's and the Bean are a must. If run AC, do not be suprized if it quits-- jellyfish by the 1000's are everywhere this time of year. So just clean strainer. Never had a marina furnish towels and soap!! We could even make this a destination!!

Easy Access, 2011-05-03
Captain: , PENSACOLA BEACH (172)

We only fueled here. Easy to get into and out of. Fuel dock is a breeze and VERY friendly service. They let us stay tied to the dock for over two hours while we walked around town and had a great breakfast at the M&M Cafe ... just around the corner. A very inviting Mom and Pop type marina ... I would definitely stay here when I come back down south.

Orential Maina (April 2011), 2011-04-26
Captain: , Richmond VA (281)

Only stayed here for one night, but the rates are reasonable and they had a great spot. Very easy to dock, well protected. There is a nice bar and sitting area and a game where there is a hook on a tree and a ring hanging on a string attached to a branch (very fun but very very hard). The location is good as you can walk to the entire city, there is a great marina consignment shop located on the main drag.

Overnight 2-6-11, 2011-02-15
Captain: , Tybee Island, GA (90)

Overnight stop on our way from Norfolk to Fernandina. Got there right at dark in the rain. Owner was out on dock to assist with tie up and refueling. Very helpful and would definitely make this a stop over if passing this way again. Several good and reasonable resturants within walking distance.

Effective Boat Fixin', 2010-11-23
Captain: , Cobbs creek va (193)

Not connected with marina but recommended by them and based on our experience and that of a neighboring boat, Mr Asa Gatlin does meticulus, effective and affordable mechanical work

Accomodating and helpful, 2010-11-08
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (369)

Stopped by Oct.30 and even though they were full, managed to fit us in for the night. Very friendly and helpful during docking. Facilties were clean and close to the docks. Will definitely stop ther again.

Small Marina with great perks, 2010-08-22
Captain: , Everglades City, FL (230)

This tiny marina seems to primarily serve transent vessels. the docks are fixed with fingers extending off a bulkhead. Power and water are avaliable at no additional fee. There is a fuel dock with both desiel and petrol. The onsite Tiki Bar and pool with complimentary towels are a real treat. The marina offers easy access to the Beaufort waterfront. Located directly across the street, the local coffee shop, The Bean, rents bikes that make trips to the grocery, hardware store, and local marine consignment shop much easier. Both the marina and The Bean have free Wifi.

Oriental Marina, 2010-07-21
Captain: , Oriental, NC (130)

We rented a slip at this marina for the 4th of July, 2010. We enjoyed our stay. The crew at the marina were very helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone passing through.

Great town, everything except groceries close, 2010-06-22
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

Oriental is a must see. There is a motel/condo as part of the marina. Rock concert Sat night, but it ended before midnight. The free dock is next door, but there is no electricity on the free dock

Competent Dockmaster, 2010-06-12
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

When windy, the dockmaster is certainly your friend. Great restaurant on site. Coffee & ice cream across the street. For women: Marsha's across street is a wonderful boutique.

We love this place, 2010-04-23
Captain: , Old Saybrook, CT (1021)

We were here during a spring storm which produced flooding for a couple of days. Speeding pickup trucks waked us as they flew by on the main street next to our slip. Across the street from The Bean, the local coffee house, a block to a hardware store/chandlery, about a mile to groceries and booze. A number of restaurants, including a good one on site. Tiki bar (beer and wine only) and pool on site. Friendly and helpful dock folks who went out of their way to help the folks who were marooned here for a few days because of weather. Nice showers and the marina supplies the soap, shampoo, and towels!

Great pool, 2010-02-16

Well protected marina,, 2009-06-01
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

$1.75 a foot, all inclusive, wifi, etc. No long term rates ,or monthly rates.
Town now has a Marine consignment store at 708 broad st. a few blocks walk.
You can walk the entire town (pennensula) in about an hour. Shopping for food a long mile walk

1st and last stop!, 2009-05-26
Captain: , Belhaven, NC (363)

Not what you think! We love this place, because it's the first place we stop when heading south, and the last place we stop before we get back home. Oriental means we're finally started and (mariners' dilemma) almost done!

Quaint retreat, 2009-04-27
Captain: , Memphis TN (977)

Small hometown marina, Good hamburgers restaurant and tiki bar on site. Located in the center of town. Clean showers, towels provided. Plenty of room for our 49' trawler.

An absolutely wonderful marina, 2007-05-12
Captain: , Nashville, TN (21)

When we arrived we were greeted by the crew and did all that they could to make us feel welcome. We were in for storms and heavy
winds 40 MPH to 60 MPH docks are not floating as on Nuesce River, but water kept on rising. Owner arranged for all the 12 boats there to get provisions at grocery store, farms where we picked up fresh lettuce, strawberries, etc. Would not let us pay him for fuel or any thing else. Had showers with towels, soap and even shampoo for tose that wanted to use the facilities. Just great and well protected
