Reviews for Olmstead Shipyard
Transmission not going to gear, 2016-10-15
Captain: , Cedar Hill (10)

The first estamate was for over $6000. But he called a man who worked on my type of tranmission all the time and found it was only a minor problem. He got to me right away and fixed the transmission, then fixed a bad water leak on my generator, and sold me his old chart ploter. My total cost was $963.92. The people who sent me to him said he wouldn't try to hose me down, and he didn't. The work was fast and very good. I would stop in again if I need help. I was travaling the ditch to Texas at the time.

Emergency Repairs Quickly Done, 2016-08-25
Captain: , Port Isabel TX (640)

On leaving Bowtie Marina, we had a serpentine belt failure on the port engine as we crossed under the I-210 bridge. We turned back to Bowtie and they suggested we call Olmsted. Fluffy was over shortly and dived right into our problem. We had a spare belt and while he was replacing ours, I located a couple more locally. Fluffy checked our starboard engine and said we should change it also. He got on the phone and had the parts places deliver the belts to his shipyard. After lunch he replaced the other belt and all ran smooth. A first class repair to transient boaters at a very reasonable price. Bowtie Marina and Olmsted Shipyard are both first class operations. Lake Charles is lucky to have them.

A diamond of a yard, 2012-03-09
Captain: , galveston tx (10)

It's not pretty, It's not fancy, but they do have a dock with power and water and a minimalist shower.
The yard was able to handle our broken exahust within and hour of us arriving and run into town for some extra parts. Getting up the bayou was easy and scenic
