Reviews for Old Point Comfort Yacht Club
Friendly Active Yacht Club, 2016-04-13
Captain: , Rudee Inlet, VA Beach, VA (10)

Great yacht club in the Southern Bay area. Racing program, Education program, Waterfront Clubhouse and member of USSA and CBYRA Yachting Clubs of America.

Excellent Affordable Yacht Club, 2014-08-23
Captain: , Hampton, VA (314)

The yacht club is open to everyone and with dues of only $40/year (Note: First year dues are a little more to cover the burgee) it is very affordable. There are endless activities from cruising, racing, education, and social activities.

Blooming in Transition, 2012-02-14
Captain: , Norfolk Virginia (469)

Disclosure: Am not a member but strongly considering due to the following.

Received email through another net about courses taught at Pointers Maritime University (part of the club) which is a series of sailing focused courses. These range from "iPad Navigation: what you need to know" "Racing for Cruisers" "Winch Maintenance" "Sail Trim" etc. Very focused and very well taught, suitable for every level of sailor and maintainer.

Walking off the street, the group was open, welcoming and positive to both my wife and myself.

OPYC was former substantial military when the facility was base (and getting on Fort Monroe was difficult for those without proper documents). Now that has changed and so have they: welcoming those who are interested in racing, cruising, both and doing it better in a positive social environment.

We plan to join as payment to the excellent information we have benefited from over the last several weeks and to thank them in some manner for their genuine hospitality.

Website is OPCYC.org and contains wealth (truly) of information.
