Reviews for Ocean Springs Small Craft Harbor
Nice Quiet Marina, 2015-06-04
Captain: , New Orleans (20)

For the second summer in a row we are keeping our boat at this marina for 2-3 months. We like the easy access to the barrier islands, especially Horn Island, and also the sleepy little downtown of Ocean Springs. New harbormaster seems to be proactive, and the post-Katrina rebuild here seems very robust. Bathrooms/showers/coin-op laundry are available behind the harbormaster's office. We have also met some great people here that truly makes it feel like our summer home. Tide swing here is 1.5' - 2' but have seen over 3' depending on wind direction etc. We are a shallow draft vessel so depths are not a problem, haven't seen less than 6' or so anywhere in harbor. They are currently doing some dredging so depths will likely increase.

Very Nice Stop, 2015-05-20

New price is $20 per night and the harbormaster is Danny. Docks are in good shape and the showers are clean and nice. A local gave us a ride to town.

A pleasnt suprise, 2013-09-20

We actually stayed here because the Mildamar which came through before us liked it and it was a good price. Once the we found downtown Ocen Springs to be delightful. A short pleasant walk, nicde selection of eateries.

The other side of the tracks, 2013-09-04

Came in slow. Short finger pier required stern first tie up. Put the rudder in the mud with two hours to go till low tide, but moved out a couple feet and had plenty of water. Harbor is small, quiet, and friendly. It has a good head, shower, and laundry in the back of the Harbor Office, and water and power on the bulkhead.
Fishing piers, beaches, parks, restaurants, bars, public library, and various stores, are a short walk away. Public transportation is available going east to WalMart or west into Biloxi for $1.00 for kids and $1.25 for adults. Bus runs every 1.5 hours. Last one is at 7pm. Taxis are cheap for odd hours and provisioning trips.
Expect to see a lot of Army off duty in town on weekends.
One of our favorite stops.

Shallow draft, high fixed piers, staff not helpful, 2013-04-23
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fla (112)

Had a reservation and tried to stay early March 2013 after a 30 hour passage. Very inexpensive, and close to where our family lives. We draw 4'9" and only had a few inches under the keel in the entry channel, and it was not low tide. No warning from the staff on the shallow entrance. We had been told the open slip numbers we could use, but could not find the slips and the numbering was very strange. Called the marina on cell, were told the numbers are on the power pedestals. When I said I see the numbers gut they make no sense, I was told to wait a minute, then they hung up. Turns out the numbers read vertically instead of horizontally (even though the numbers horizontally were much closer together), my wife finally figured that out. Slips offered were very narrow, between shrimp boats, and the very short finger piers (fixed docks) were so high we'd need a ladder to get off, despite having a decent size trawler. There is another section which had smaller recreational boats, which looked nice but not available. The facilities looked nearly new, but no security.
We left and found Boardwalk Marina, could not be happier.

great out of the way marina, 2012-06-06

This is where I picked up my boat, I was there for nearly a week provisioning. Not much in the way of amenities on site but you are just a few blocks from a very quaint little historic downtown area. Relatively cheap slip rental, great wind/tide protection. I would not recommend this as a hurricane hole due to its "coastal" location.

No resturant now, new marina office facility being built. The slips are dusty due to the unrepaired road along the harbor frontage. The rest of the services are Ok. There are small finger piers that run out about 10'. You can bow are stern in and get off on the finger. I would stay here again.

We arrived on a Saturday at 1830., 2010-11-06
Captain: , Panama City, FL (389)

We arrived on a Saturday at 1830. A call to the posted number resulted in a recording which directed us to the county maintenance manager who said there is no current harbor master. They are looking for one. He told me he or Bill Robertson, the interim HM would meet us. Bill called me at about 1600 while we were still en route and said he would come to the pier to greet us, and he did. We were placed in a vacant "shrimp boat" slip which suited us just fine, and we hooked up to the twin 30-Amp power plugs. The charge for the night was an astounding 10 bucks! The restaurant was open, but we did not go there. I rate this place in the middle because it cannot compare for "fit and finish" with the Ritzy places I have seen, but I'd prefer this place over most of them. I hope their permanent HM is a good guy too. We came in on a pretty low tide after a day of heavy north winds; so the seven to ten feet depths we saw should be about minimums. We used the chartplotter to stay in the channel after it teed off from the main channel because there is only one red marker near the harbor itself after leaving the main channel.

Great place but no showers or heads until new office is built. Don't miss the Walter Anderson museum! Trolley is $1.25 a leg (ie Ocean Springs to Walmart, or Walmart to Biloxi) and runs every 90 minutes.

The friendliest on the MS Gulf Coast, 2009-06-16
Captain: , MS Sound (284)

The friendliest stop on the MS Gulf Coast. The harbor master is wonderful, offered to drive us to town to pick up fuel and supplies. The restaurant and other business on site are just as friendly and acomodating. As stated in previous reviews it is a no frils but a very quiet and quaint stop.

One stay, 2009-04-20
Captain: , New Iberia, LA (357)

Stopped here Feb 09 and found it to be a nice stop over. Very inexpensive, 10/night including water and power. Slips are VERY narrow, dockmaster is a nice young lady who owns a boat in the marina. Well protected. Deli/restaurant was closed when I stopped which was a Monday. They do have free wi-fi at the deli even when closed and while it was not open the owner was around and offered a cold beer and good place to sit. Will certainly stop here again. As mentioned not much to do in the marina per say, but still a good stop.

This is , absolutely, one our favorite stops on the Miss Gulf Coast. When I say no frills, I mean it.!!!!! The slips are old and narrow but the elec outlets are new. Put your bike ashore and have a great time within a mile or so. The Sherwater Pottery and Museum is right in town as are numerious restaurants. The Greek restaurant is without equal and very reasonable. dont miss the hamburgers at the Mobil station, that is the gas station. NO CASINOS but there are plenty in Biloxi next door.
OK ,I give it two stars but for ambiance , quiet and quaint, not to mention freindly it gets FIVE STARS in my book!!!!
Don't even think of passing this place without an overnight stop.
