Additional info:

Approach

Coming in from the bay side, the closest cut is through about 1 mile North at Angelfish Creek. It has serious current, sometimes 3-4 kts or more. The entrance to the cut from the bay and the exit on the ocean side shoal badly and at low tide can be as little as 4 1/2 feet or less. Take it slow and try to go at high tide. There is also a hard ledge on the Ocean/Hawk Channel side that has been reported at 5 feet.

Reported August 2014, depths in the Ocean Reef entrance channel are 9 to 10 feet MLW on the centerline except for a short hump to 8 feet MLW between R4 and R6.

Reviews for Ocean Reef Club
We liked it so much we bought a slip, 2016-08-02
Captain: , Duxbury, MA (15)

Honestly we had never heard of Ocean Reef before. We stopped in to visit a friend a were so struck by the perfection of this little enclave that we ended up buying a slip. We have beautiful new floating docks finished in 2015. Reliable and robust electrical service. Great tasting water. Excellent dock staff. Lots of restaurants and shopping just a golf cart ride away (you can rent a cart for your stay). Beautiful pool area with outdoor bar is a short walk from the Marina. There is an airport, 3 golf courses, tennis center, movie theater, art center, ridiculous huge new full gym and a mini gym right at the Marina, full medical center, grocery store and a dog park. But what we really love the most is that its the quietest marina we have ever been in. There is minimal boat traffic and no current for drama free docking. Channel looks terrible on the charts but is well marked. We draw 5'5" and have never had an issue. Go slow in the channel and call ahead so you don't get surprised if one of the big boys is coming out.

Beautiful upscale resort, 2015-04-04
Captain: , Fort Pierce, FL (40)

This is quite a place, and completely self-contained. We were only here one night, but experienced great service from Tony who met us on the dock when we arrived. The sushi restaurant has good food and service, but is kinda loud. It was Easter weekend so it was a madhouse at the pools, but everyone was polite and having a good time. The marina has high, fixed concrete docks and is a little tight but we had no problem with our 44 foot trawler. A lovely experience if you want to splurge.

just beautiful, 2014-04-07
Captain: , Miami (260)

Rich ,golf, restaurants and marina.but all private for members only

Top Resort in Key Largo, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (375)

It's a members only club that allows limited access for non-members. Great facility, great marina, great dining, great shopping.

Great spot, 2013-10-24
Captain: , Newtown Square, Pa. (12)

Terrific restaurants, family friendly, 2 golf courses, tennis, fitness center, huge pool and friendly staff

Highly Recommended Stop, 2013-03-01
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (970)

Fabulous marina with all the amenities offered to visiting yachtsmen as if they were members of this exclusive private residential club.

Many restaurant and shopping options are a short walk or bike ride from your immaculate slip. Uniformed dock attendants handle your lines, and everyone ashore is friendly and happy to have you as guests.

You will need a sponsoring member to reserve a slip. Check your wardrobe for the fashionably casual dress code at most venues.

Highly recommended stop between South Florida and the keys. Expensive, but worth the price.

Check your lines, fenders and hairstyle as the entry channel passes the busy outdoor restaurant where everyone can judge your seamanship!

Lovely Place, 2013-01-09
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

There is alot to do for owners and guest alike. The marina is member owned slips and has a few transient slips. For crew members ther is a little crew only club that serves dinner and drinks. We will be back soon.

Six stars or more!!!!!, 2012-10-22
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Absolutely everything you could ask for. Yeh, it is pricey at 6.50 foot but we paid over 5.00 ft in Marathon with nothing.Spectacular property, 3 golf courses, good restaurants, fantastic pool & beach area. Great activities for kids an adults. And yeah the marina was terrific too. Absolutely a great spot for a day or a month. Good deep water on approach and at docks. Was there 3 nights leaving 10-22-12.

Do it if you can, 2012-06-09
Captain: , San Francisco, CA (211)

If you can get in through a yacht club reciprocal or a member referrel it's worth the cost. Excellent. Has it all.

Absolutely Awesome!, 2012-03-03
Captain: , Guntersville,Al (20)

If you ever have a chance to stop here, by all means this is the place of all places... EVERYTHING you can imagine. Not cheap, but everything is great..

Beautiful facilities, 2012-01-19
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

However, I was not too impressed. Expensive and crowded when we were there. You must receive an invitation (sponsored) to stay, but I understand if you ask you can stay twice a year.

Spoil yourself and new floating docks are great!, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Hammock Beach, FL (233)

As other captains have noted - ORC has exceptional amenities and is a wonderful stop in the Keys. You need to be a member or be sponsored by a member to stay.
We just stayed (11/2011) at their newly rebuilt floating docks and they are an excellent enhancement. Of the 4 main docks, 2 are still fixed and 2 have converted to floating. The floating are preferred.

Worth the price of admission!, 2011-05-13
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

Sure you can stay somewhere cheaper but you get what you pay for. This is a first-class resort marina and the high price insures that it stays that way. The setting is a 'hole in the middle of a mangrove forest'" The pool and all the other amenities are what you expect a a world-class resort.

Once in here you are not nickeled and dimed - the prices are what you would pay to dine anywhere in the keys in high guality restrauants. The staff provides service that exceeds what is expected.

If you can get in - try it since it will raise your standards of what marinas can be!

Wonderful place, 2011-04-13
Captain: , CHARLEVOIX, MI (32)

ORC marina and club is for members and guests of members only. This place has everything, and contrary to one review, it is not snobish. Work with Fito. the dockmaster, to find someone who will sponser you. Prices are what you would expect for a fine resort.

One of the best, 2011-02-07
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

I guess like most things in life, you get what you pay for and at Ocean Reef, you pay a lot --- but there is nothing else quite like this place. This Marina (and the staff) are first class, wonderful amenities, terrific restaurants, golf, pools, movies, shopping, and you do it all with a rented golf cart to get around the property. You either need to be a member or be sponsored to stay here (also can be booked through MarinaLife). If you want a bargin, go somewhere else, if you want to really treat yourself, stay here. East access from Card Sound through Anglefish Creek or directly from the Hawk Channel. Easy come, easy go....

Great place to visit, 2010-09-01
Captain: , New Port, RI (134)

Ocean Reef is a Members and Guest only marina but if you know someone at Ocean Reef its a great place to visit. They have a private landing strip, hospital, golf, pools, great kids areas and wonderful restaurants and much more. It's on the expensive side, but you only live once. Deep harbor and if you draw more then 6' foot come in on a mid to high tide.

snobs only, 2007-02-12
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

Only for the stupidly rich!
