Reviews for Ocean Pursuits - Private
Arrived as clients - left as friends!, 2016-05-02

We needed to leave our 42 catamaran unattended in a safe place for three weeks and we were delighted to find that Ocean Pursuits had space for us on on one of their moorings. The moorings are strong, well set up and maintained to a very high standard. This corner of Rockland is quiet and secure from the worst of the summer weather. The owners, Bill and Jodie could not have been more helpful and accommodating . They have a wealth of maritime experience and you know that your boat is in safe hands. They are great, kind people!

It is a short easy walk from their dinghy dock to Hannafords Supermarket and the best laundromat that we have ever been into!

It may sound corny, but it's true - 'we arrived as clients and left as frriends'!

We came for three weeks and stayed for six!

Good Choice For Storage, Repair, Service, 2014-07-24
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (897)

We have stored our 36' sloop here in winter as well as having some extensive FG work done. Our experiences with this yard, compared to those in several other yards in Rockland, have always been very good. The storage yard is fenced and gated, which can matter in Rockland. Rates may not be the lowest, but they deliver good value for the money. Highly reccommended.

An addition: We took our boat to Florida and back to Rockland soon after writing this review, putting the repairs we had done to the test. At this point, I can say we were very pleased as storage customers for many seasons, have no complaints of any kind with the FG work we had done and liked dealing with all personnel. On the other hand, some mechanical work didn't work out so well. On that basis, I would tend to look elsewhere for that sort of service.

wintered here for many years with excellent results., 2014-06-04

Friendly family run business. stored frolic here for many years. owners and employees very helpful, well versed in boats and systems and all
offering help and advise without fanfare and always with a smile! accessible only at high tide but they do have moorings (i think).

Decent bare-bones moorings, 2013-11-01

Ocean Pursuits has several mooring balls -- well marked ("OP") and in good condition -- in front of their boatyard. $30 per night with a 2 night minimum. The floating dock is accessible by dinghy at all tides, and has about 7' minimum depth at high tide. We brought our 46' boat in to fill up with water without problem. They also have ample space for visitor parking at the top of the hill.

Conscientious family owned business, 2013-08-01

We enjoyed dealing with them. They were very helpful to us.

Look elsewhere, 2013-03-12

I stored my boat here for 5 years. It is not convenient for haul outs and launches due to having to time the tide carefully. Their dock is reachable only at half tide or less. I had an engine overhaul done last winter and was very unhappy with the experience. The job came in well above estimate and well behind schedule - not to mention continuing problems with the engine. I would never do business with them again.

Ocean Pursuits Marina, 2011-08-03

We were anchored out in the north bay and took the dingy to OPM as it had the closest dock for walking to Walmart and Hannafords Grocery. We met the owner, Jodie Cowan (we think that was her name), and were politely told it was a private dock. That it was not a public warf. Next time we will dingy elsewhere.

A real boatyard, but does rent moorings, 2010-06-14
Captain: , Camden, Maine (741)

I haven't used Ocean Pursuits personally, but have known the owners for decades, and would like to offer a different point of view than that of KHS in 2008. For one thing, Ocean Pursuits does rent moorings on a short term basis, and their dingy dock is accessable at all but extreme low tides.

More important really is the point that Ocean Pursuits is capable of quite technical boat work, particularly systems and electronics. In fact, they build custom electrical panels for many boatbuilders like Lyman Morse!

A small, family run operation. No fuel, no slips. Landing dock not accessed during low tide. Seasonal mooring buoys only. They have haul out facilities with semi-weekly hydraulic trailer service and their boat ramp. No Travel Lift. Winter storage available outside or indoors. Simple boat storage and winterizing is one thing, but my experiences would steer me toward other more qualified boatyards for anything more technical.
