Reviews for Oak Harbor Marina
Great marina and improving, 2016-06-25
Captain: , Slidell (10)

Harbormaster Courtney Fricke has been at the helm for a few years and her dilignet efforts are apparent. Docks are in good repair and the slips are filling up. Excellent location for a home base or transients looking to enjoy Lake Pontchartrain or heading East to the MS Sound and beyond. Gated, secure parking and dock access. Two nearby fuel choices at the Cracker Barrel and The Dock. Walk to Phil's Marina Cafe for excellent, consistent food. Above Phil's is Tammany Yacht Club, a GYA member club and welcoming to new members. A longer walk or a short ride to local hotel, Waffle House and Exxon station. Nice canal boat ride to several other restaurants in the immediate area. Oak Harbor has wifi to the docks. Bottom line - Courtney will ensure that your stay is a great one!

Quiet and calm, 2016-03-14

Been here 3 times and always pleased with our stay. Courtney the dock master has worked hard on getting it's reputation improved by being attentive and efficient with guests. Locked gates to the docks for security. Docks are old but serve ones needs just fine. Transients get a "T" dock. Marine has just a few live-a-boards who are never out. Occassionaly we have seen 1-2 people enter a boat in all our stays. Bathrooms and laundry area are clean and again empty. They too are showing their age but the convenience of hooks, benches, 2 bathroom stalls and showers make it so very pleasant that one does not need to bothered by its older look. Can walk to the very popula Phil's Marine cafe, a jumping busy place on the Friday night when we ate there. Oyster and crawfish are quite popular. We use this marina as a starting point to the Mississippi Sound. Easy entrance this way, except for the RR bridge where we always have a wait from 15 minutes to 1 hour.

home harbor, 2015-11-01
Captain: , Slidell, La (22)

I moved my Endeavour 33 from New Orleans to Oak Harbor about 3 months ago. Courtney, the barber master is all about getting you settled in. she has all the information on who and how to get everything set. when the weather permits, she is constantly on the docks making repairs and updates. costs are less than those in NOLA and the water is cleaner as well. Yes the channel coming in is a bit tricky but go slow and stay to the middle of the channel and there should be no issues. the area is well protected from wind and waves. Tidal range is usually a foot to a foot and a half. Wind driven water can build up a bit when the wind blows for an extended period from the West. this can increase the tidal range by another foot. large lagoon area affords plenty of room to move around. Phil's Marina Grill is a good place for some food and drink.

Under New Management, 2015-05-08
Captain: , Oak Harbor Marina (45)

As of June 2014, Oak Harbor Marina has been under new management with completely new staff that hope to take a great marina and help it become an even greater one here on the Northshore.

We are focused on providing an overall better experience for all who choose to moor with us and for the transients who stop in along their way. We have moved our transient slips to an isolated section at the end of one of our docks to make arriving here easier. Typcially if it is during office hours, if you call ahead, the Harbor Master will meet you at your arrival to catch a line for you. We are constantly addressing and making necessary improvements to our fixed docks.

Come see for yourself what we have to offer here at Oak Harbor Marina. We hope to provide you with an excellent stay for however long you are looking to moor here in the Grand Lagoon off of Lake Pontchartrain!
