Reviews for Oak Harbor Marina
Friendly, helpful staff!, 2015-09-09
Captain: , Newport News, VA (107)

I bought my boat on the hard at Oak Harbor Marina and cannot say enough about how well Chris and his crew took care of Luna Blu to make her ready for the trip down the Bay to her new homeport. A sea trial was conducted which included lifting her to check out the centerboard trunk, then launching her for the trial and putting her back on the hard for maintenance. Bottom paint, hull compund and some other minor maintenance was required before she was ready which was hurried due to my schedule. They got the job done and done correctly. I was very pleased with the service and would definitely bring the boat back to Oak Harbor for hauling and any maintenance required.

Helpful, friendly people; full services available, 2015-07-08

Oak Harbor is not primarily a transient marina, but accommodates transients on a slip available basis. The facility is 2-3 miles out-of-town, and a car is needed for access to retaurants and other local shopping. The owners and staff are very customer oriented. Full services are available in the on-site boat yard operation, from short hauls to major overhauls. DIY work is permitted, including bottom painting. Prices are competitive for the area. There is a modest ship's store on site, and the staff will go out of their way to fulfill chandlery needs overnight. Docks are fixed, wood; showers and restrooms are available. Faciltiy is well used. An independent mechanical business is located on-site (Andeson Marine Svcs) which provides excellent engine and mechanical services.

Ken was outstanding and the facilities were clean and well kept. I highly recomend this spot for a weather stop. Unfortunatly there is no shopping close at hand nor resturants. It is protected, pretty and very friendly!

Oak Harbor Marina, Rock Creek, # 7, off, 2014-10-04
Captain: , Montreal Qc., Canada (100)

Bought my boat (2001, 4788 Bayliner pilot house motoryacht ) in the Annapolis area in 2007, before traveling home to Montreal Canada.
Oak Harbor Marina was recomended as a safe secure honest place to haul out and have work done, by actual workers with a small town attitude. I was extreamly happy with the fiberglass work of Mike Mullen of C&M Custom Boat Services and Nelson the on site Mechanic. ( I had a bow thruster and a stern thruster installed, and small mechanical issuses cleaned up)They work together on different projects requiring different trades, in conjunction with the full service yard at Oak Harbor. They did such a great job I recomended them to other friends who purched Boats in the Annapolis or Chessapeake area to bring home to Canada and each one of them was satisfied with the quality of work, the honest commitment , and the small town pricing reflected in their project costs.
Fast forward 7 years to now, Oct 2014 and I'm back here to get the bottom redone with blasting and interprotect as well as a hull extension adding 3 feet to my waterline. A major mod to a boat like mine.

All this time goes by and I am recieved by the same helpful, joking, warm hearted yard Manager, J.B. as I pulled into Oak Harbor marina and one of the crew who helped me tie off. They were ready with their new looking 40 ton travel lift to haul me out first thing Friday am. After requesting they are allowing me to stay in their travel lift bay till haulmout Monday am, giving us a few more days of full comfort.
I traveled over 750 miles to get here and the calm, secure, reasonably priced, quiet working yard, with a full , i would say 95% sail boat, Marina was a welcome site to some of the crazy priced, noisey , rocking, windy, tidal affected expensive overrated marinas I stayed at on the way here.
I give the owner , his crew, and the men closely connected to this marina a full 5 stars, due to their attitude and honest rates, and their quiet site.
J.B. recomended Enterprise Car rental here in Pasedena and for 9.99 a day for a 3 day weekend rate on a compact WITH pick up and delivery service to the marina you can't go wrong.

Hope this helps others seeking a quiet spot to refit , relax and continue south or north at a place located on the west side of the Cheesapeake, about 1/2 way between Annapolis and Baltimore, some 54 statute miles south of North Summit in the C & D canal.

ken and his wife are very helpful and this is a well protected marina, 2014-03-24

Totally positive Experience, 2013-10-22

I trucked my boat from the closed Erie Canal to Oak Harbor on the advice of a friend who slips there - and I'm now a fan. After stopping at areound 90 marinas over the last few mojnths, I can objectively say that Oak Harbor is one of the best working boat yards and welcoming marinas that I've seen. The location is that you'll need a car to shop, but you find all the expertise and help you need for repairs and rigging right there. Kind people, both owners and customers.

Nice people and facility, 2013-05-31

We are using Oak Harbor to redo our rigging. Ken is super nice and very accommodating.

This is a family-owned full-service marina. There's nothing within walking distance, but if you're not in need of such, it's a great place for service or protection in a storm. Their on-site service is run by Nelson Anderson who has one of the best reputations in the area and is known as an excellent diesel mechanic.
