Reviews for Northwest Creek Marina At Fairfield Harbour
Great marina and staff!, 2016-11-26
Captain: , Westport CT (280)

Left our boat here for two months (9/16-11/16) as part of heading south. Marina staff was great and facilities outstanding. Felt very safe leaving the boat for this period of time while heading back to work.

Location is close to New Bern Airport and was able to get in from CT to check/prep. for Matthew and found the marina staff had done a great job of prepping all the boats! I only had to remove my canvas.

Boat came through the storm fine (as did all the others).

Would not hesitate to use NWC again as a north/south stagging marina.

Could not be more satisfied.

North West Creek Marina - A Great Place to Stay, 2016-10-29
Captain: , New Bern, NC (10)

North West Creek Marina may be the most well run marina with the most professional staff on the Eastern Seaboard. The marina has fixed wooden docks with 12 foot fingers equipped with water and power. Both gasoline and diesel are available as well as a working pumpout which is difficult to find at some marinas in the area. NWC is rated as a "Clean" marina. You will find that the environment is very important to both the staff and owners. If necessary, a pumpout at your dock can be arranged with minimum effort. The marina amenities include a clean and outstandingly maintained restroom and shower facility that is climate controlled for both summer and winter conditions. A laundry facility is also provided along with a lounge with a TV and a small library where you can trade your "finished reading books" for something you haven't yet read. Plenty of receptacles are available for trash, cans, etc and dock carts are available in generally more than adequate numbers.A restaurant under new management is on site. The menu is broad and the food is delicious.
The area is loaded with more than competent maintenance services. If you need help just ask Paul, Rob, Dawn, or Tim. They know all the service people and will get you in touch with the people you need. If you need to use your computer connect to WiFi. At NWC your boat will be in good hands. This marina has never lost a boat to a hurricane. Prior to hurricanes the staff does detailed marina prep geared to protecting your boat. During the hurricane the staff walks the docks adjusting the dock lines to make sure your boat accomodates the rise and fall of the water. It all works.
It is always the people that make the difference. Stop by and meet this marinas great staff. Thanks to Paul, Dawn, Rob, and Tim for everything that you guys do to make boating a pleasure.

Great service on the river, 2016-06-29
Captain: , New Bern, NC. (801)

Well protected from wind and waves. Fixed docks with an easy in fuel dock and pump out. A clean marina with good service and restaurent next door. Stop in and talk to Mike with Neptune yacht sales and service.

Worth the trip up the Neuse, 2015-11-06
Captain: , Seattle (80)

We have been to NWCM twice. In Nov 2014- Feb 2015 when we purchased and outfitted the boat for cruising. We are here again in Nov 2015 to do some rest/maintenance before heading south again for the season.

The staff, Paul, Dawn, and Rob, are very knowledgable and helpful - just ask and they are likely to know about any topic that's boating related. There are great service people in the local area (electricians, mechanics, etc) that come to NWCM to do repairs.

The docks are in great shape. There's good wifi most of the time at the docks. There's also a boater lounge with great wifi, TV, and good book/movie collection.

Laundry is on site, a bit expensive at $3 wash and $2 dry but the machines are large so can fit more than usual. Also have good recycling program, they come to your boat for remote pump out for $5 for transients. Bathrooms are a bit dated but very clean.

Closest grocery store is 7 miles away, Food Lion, which is pretty well stocked. If you go into downtown New Bern, there is Walmart, Harris Teeter, West Marine, etc. There are so many local boater live-aboards here that it is likely you can catch a ride from one of them if you need to get to town.

Great Marina!, 2015-08-18
Captain: , New Bern NC (47)

A great place to keep your vessel permanently, or just to visit. Very knowledgable and helpful staff, and in general, a great bunch of fellow mariners too.
Northwest Creek Marina has been my home for the past year. I'm fortunate to live on a condo on site, and I can actually see my boat from my bedroom window.
There is a resturaunt on site, although it has been closed for the past few months for refurbishment. It is slated to open in late August 2015. Talking to the owners, it sounds like it will be good. Diner type menu on one side and Italian Seafood in the other dining room.
There are also 6 or 8 guest rooms available above the resturaunt.

Great Marina, 2015-05-30
Captain: , New Bern, NC (10)

Well run, reasonable rates, really good group of boaters, very helpful at the gas/pumpout dock.

waiting list correction, 2015-01-13
Captain: , Gulfport, MS (321)

The info in the "Dockage" section is somewhat incorrect. While the big boat slips are currently full, there are still slips available for boats under 40'. Your best bet is to call and discuss your needs, as slip availability is somewhat in flux. As others have said, this is an outstanding Marina with staff that go out of their way to accommodate boater's need's.

Great Marina!, 2014-08-13
Captain: , New Bern, NC (20)

Northwest Creek Marina has been my home marina for the past eight years, and my experience has been superb. Great staff - personable, helpful, and responsive. Hurricane protection the best in this area - you can leave your boat in the marina (unlike most), and the staff goes above and beyond making sure no boat is damaged. The staff and the owners are environmentally aware and take thier responsibilities as a NC Clean Marina very seriously. There is now free wifi, the bathrooms are clean and air conditioned, and there is a small store for wine, beer, sandwiches, etc. An excellentt canvas company (Mariner Canvas) is on the premises. The restaurant next door (Fairfield Harbor Food & Spirits) is under new ownership and won the best restaurant competition at the Taste of Coastal Carolina in March. Swimming and golf available for an extra charge. Convenient fuel dock with pumpout.

It's about a 20 minute drive to New Bern - no courtesy car is available, though.

Superb marina if it has what you're looking for!

Good, but not as good as 2011, 2013-10-14
Captain: , New Bern, NC (30)

Remote location with great views. Not close to New Bern or stores for supplies. No WIFI or marina transportation. Restaurant fair, but just opened. Pool and rec center fee only. Previous dockmaster retired.

Wonderful Weekend, 2012-05-19
Captain: , Raleigh (10)

Spent the weekend of 5/12/12 here. Staff was wonderful, friendly, they always had a smile on their face. Nice bath facilities. Small store on site, wine, soft drinks, etc. Hurricane Restaurant served good meals at a reasonable price. Saturday night music was a bit loud at times but otherwise a peaceful relaxing stay. I'll be back.

Great Marina, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Deltaville, Va. (210)

We lived aboard here for 6 months and enjoyed it. Nice staff, nice community, good amenities and fair prices. A few of the other reviews were accurate in that the marina is a great hurricane hole, due a lot to the efforts of the staff, but it is far from town and the restaurant plays very loud music sometimes late at night.

best staff, best hurricane protection, 2011-10-17
Captain: , New Orleans (651)

We rode Hurricane Irene at this marina on our boat. We were very impressed with the staff. They were out in high water during the hurricane adjusting lines and checking on boats. They have a written hurricane policy and a great record of taking care of boats in the marina. Quite a professional team and they truly care for their customers. Laundry is not climate controlled and is a little pricey or they would rate 5 stars.

Good place to be, 2011-10-03
Captain: , Between Boats, USA (623)

We moored at NWCM for 18 months. The marina and its staff are good. The marina has a great culture with a fair amount of live-aboards. It's a warm and inviting place to stay for a while. Fixed docks and good facilities (including a small wine and sundries store) add to the pleasant atmosphere. What kept it from being a 5-star was two things: During the warm months, the restaurant that overlooks the marina, blasts bad (really bad) musicians and Karaoke over the entire marina until 11pm on weekends. The other issue is that any connection to civilization is a fairly lengthy drive (nothing is biking distance). So it's not a good place for transients. Fuel is high quality and they always have a functional pump-out station. It's also a hurricane hole and the dock masters have never lost a boat in a storm. Depths are 8' thru the entry channel, but days of N or NE wind will empty the river of water, so be aware. NWCM a great place to stay for a while.

NW Creek Marina, 2011-09-23
Captain: , New Bern, NC (128)

Excellent marina of the Nuese River. Limited services available without transportation into New Bern. Pump out, Diesel, Gas available during hours of operation (8:00 - 5:00). Call on Channel 16 and switch to 68.

Spent 2 nights here, 2011-03-02
Captain: , Oriental, NC (265)

Nice facility, friendly, clean showers.

Best marina on the east coast!, 2011-01-26
Captain: , new bern (317)

Others have pretty much said it all about this marina. I have kept my boat here since 2003. We have been up and down the intra coastal and have not been to a better marina. Capable staff and spotless facilities. It is out of the way but friendly people to help you get around.

Stopped for Fuel Only, 2010-10-15
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Good helpful staff for pumpout and fuel which is usually the cheapest on the Neuse we are told. MArina looks like a great place to stop.

Glad we stopped, 2009-11-23
Captain: , Newville (488)

Stopped for fuel & pump out. Service was fast, professional, & very friendly. Decided to stay for the night, possibly longer if prior arrangments did not work out in another place. No problem. Great rate, great facility, nice people. Will stay stay there again any time we can.

Great place, 2008-04-15
Captain: , Old Saybrook, CT (1021)

Bud and Dawn, the dockmasters, are tremendously helpful as are many of the slipholders. We got (free) rides to and from the airport and were offered other rides and help which we didn't need at the time. Good boaters' lounge with tv and an excellent book exchange. It's a real community which welcomes the few transients that can get in. ALL slips are sold out and there is a waiting list so that you can only get in if someone is away. Call or email way in advance if you can, No supplies, groceries, etc. within walking distance.

Excellent Marina, 2008-03-19
Captain: , New Bern, NC (76)

Dock master Bud is top notch. A dockmaster is always available 7 days a week till about 5pm all days. They have gas, deisel and pumpout. 6 ft slip depths in most areas

NW Creek Marina, 2007-09-01
Captain: , New Bern, NC (46)

This is the best marina in the area. Although it is somewhat remote (you'll need a car), it is well protected and Bud, the dockmaster, really takes care of the boats in the marina.

Best Run Marina, 2007-01-19
Captain: , New Bern, NC (102)

This is a superbly run maina with a long waiting list. The only amenity it does not have is cable TV at the slip. Wi-Fi is provided by a vendor who charges. Fuel is at gas station prices and includes tax. This is because they get it from the Mallard chain. NB: It is 8 miles to the nearest supermarket or anything else. No courtesy car, but lots of bicyles and friendly people. Very clean with package and mail service. I lived there for 18 months up until December 31st, 2006. Bud Ellis is the Dockmaster and a superb one.
