Reviews for North Point Marina
Very nice marina, 2017-06-19
Captain: , St Louis (320)

I stopped here for the first time. I need 7' of water and never had an issue, but you'll need to follow the buoys when entering the harbor to stay in deep water. The docks were in great shape. It's pretty obvious that the new management has is making a lot of improvements.
Our reservations were made using, but I would think that you could call the harbor and make reservations.
They have plenty of showers and bathrooms, along with laundry. I can't comment on any shopping as I didn't explore. Stop by the Winthrop Harbor Yacht Club, they're the first building you see when entering the harbor.

This place has potential. It is only about 20% full as of 5/14/17 but the new management is making the positive changes to fill it up. We had never been here but thought it would be a nice stop since it is only $1/ft! One thing to be aware of is that the channel is shallow. We draw 6' and hit the muddy bottom, quickly reversed and stayed at the fuel dock. I assume they will correct the problem but watch your depth coming in.

Great Home, 2015-08-13
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (41)

I've been keeping my 41' sailboat here for several years, place is very nice, clean, and very safe. They patrol the docks all the time, Tropics restaurant has really improved their menu, food is great, and beer selection is good too. People are very friendly, stop by anytime.

A great bargain, 2014-07-28
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (146)

The marina continues to be a great place to stop. Facilities are always clean and well maintained. The dock boards could use a little maintenance (raised nails/screws).

Transients are often placed at F dock. The location is close to the yacht club and Skipper Buds restaraunt.

Nice location if you want to park the boat and take the commuter train into Chicago for the day.

Large Marina, 2012-08-18
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Great group of friendly slip holders here. Docks are in good shape and long. THere are 1500 slips here and are about half full. Be sure to stay in the marked channel entering the marina. Security seems to be a priority with guards and security gates on each dock.

Excellent stop, 2012-07-10
Captain: , Maryland Heights, MO (314)

Excellent service - stayed two nights in July 2012. Good security, helpful staff, nice restaurant. A couple miles to town for groceries, etc.

Clean and Friendly, 2011-04-01
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

Marina staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Slips are in very good condition as well as adequate depth on approach and in the slips. Restrooms and showers are generally very clean. Slip holders and Yacht club members are very friendly and helpful.

Nice Marina and Friendly Locals, 2010-01-19
Captain: , Rockford, IL (614)

This is a nice place with very reasonable transient slips. It's big, but fairly easy to find your way around. Nice facilities and the locals all seemed friendly and helpful.

Call it home!, 2008-06-09
Captain: , Heritage Harbor (89)

Big without being complicated. Friendly people both on the water, in thier slips and the office staff is great too. Clean washrooms and showers, friendly gas dock and pump outs. Try the tropics for food and enjoy boating the way its supposed to be. Problems try skipper buds for service! I did.

Home Sweet Home, 2007-07-12
Captain: , Winthrop Harbor, IL (60)

This has been our home port since 1996 and for a state-run facility they do a very nice job. It's clean, well-maintained, and staff is responsive to needs. Tropics restaurant on site is OK, but use free shuttle trolley into Winthrop Harbor and Zion to explore others. To those coming from smaller marinas, it's big here(around 1500 slips) but has a rational layout that's not too confusing to navigate. Docks and channels well-marked. People here are very friendly and glad to give you a hand or share local knowledge.
