Reviews for Norfolk Yacht and Country Club
Very High Class Yacht and Country Club, 2014-10-14
Captain: , Lizella GA (1414)

I did not belong to a reciprocal yacht club but I was still able to stay here. The dock master was off the day I arrived so I had to dock by myself but it was very easy on the facedock. There is so much to offer here including resturants, bar, snack bar, fitness Center, pool tennis courts and fuel. There is a dress code here, both casual and formal. Most guests here were wearing suit and tie which is required for the main restaurant. Everything looks new and is in great shape. It was well worth the $1.50/ft to stay here. Fitness Center has steam rooms, gym and really nice showers with towels furnished. This is a top of the line accomodation.

First Class Private Club, 2014-09-29

If you fortunate enough to be a member of a club with trade agreements, here, go. Concrete docks, two resturants, pools, tennis, etc. Dock Master Dino is great.

Needs staff, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (185)

A great yacht club, of the Yawt Culub sort and a good reason for reciprocity. Didn't have staff for the docks though, and it was the Dock Master's day off when I arrived.

Singing Dockmaster, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Annapolis MD (191)

This is a favorite stop for us as we have reciprocity. The facilities are top notch. Dino has been dockmaster for 19 years. He is a great personality as he is an artist and singer.

One of America's Great Yacht Clubs - with Southern Hospitality, 2013-09-28
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1288)

We are back at NYCC and enjoying it every bit as much this time around. A wonderful yacht club experience with heaps of Southern hospitality.

The club offers reciprocal privileges to members of other accredited yacht clubs. Expect more water than the latest NOAA charts show: we sounded it all the way in on 9-26-2013 from 150 yards N of G "21" on the Craney Island Reach to the marked channel (starting with R "2LR") leading right up to the club: nothing less than 12.8 feet MLW, with deeper water in the guest slips.

NYCC (AKA "Norfolk Yacht") is one of America's great yacht clubs, with a fine 50,000 square foot clubhouse, a separate to-die-for fitness center, three restaurants offering some of the best food in the Tidewater area, excellent concrete floating docks with spacious slips, friendly staff and members, good electric (about 208 volts), good water, knowledgeable dockmaster and dockhands. The giant fitness center at the club is one of the best you'll find anywhere.

While NYCC is NOT within easy walking distance of supermarkets or other shopping, an Enterprise car rental office is 10 minutes away (on W. Little Creek Road) and will pick you up. With a car, Norfolk is an excellent provisioning stop--and a great place for repairs.

Full disclosure: Might I be a little prejudiced? I hung out here as a kid in grammar school, learned to sail here, and started my first overnight cruise as a highschooler from a pier nearby. When Judy and I were married 50 years ago our wedding reception was at this club, and we've been coming back ever since.

Norfolk Yacht Club, 2012-08-25
Captain: , Lottsburg, Va (264)

We stayed here for a week during the OP Sail event in early June. I have not stayed at a nicer facility. The on-site resturant was 1st class and reasonable and the dockmaster was quite helpful. The only negative is the rather modest bath facility afforded the marina. But with the pool and workout locker room available this was really not an issue. The docks are a little exposed to a strong SW wind and the western most slips could get a little bumpy even with the floating docks and breakwater. Access was easy just off the Elizabeth River. The fuel price was competitive.

Great Y C and interesting dock master Dino, 2012-08-01
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (555)

This Y C has it all - beautiful floating docks, great facility with tennis courts, indoor outdoor pools, and several restaurants. Dino the Dockmaster has been there 17 years and is both a painter and a musician. We had a great time there.

NYCC is a Gem in the Perfect Location, 2012-06-07
Captain: , Virginia Beach, VA (67)

The Norfolk Yacht & Country Club is a great place to visit and in the perfect location to access the amenities in and around the Hampton Roads. Very nice people and a nice sheltered location just off Hampton Blvd. Currently we are participating in the OpSail 2012 events in and arround the Norfolk Waterside area (adjacent to Bouy 1 of the ICW), and the NYCC is the perfect location for our excursions to the events. Having a wonderful time, and highly recommend the NYCC for their location, amenities, and location.

Excellent Restaurant., 2012-05-17
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Welcomes members of other recognized yacht clubs. Good floating docks. Excellent restaurant. A bit isolated.

First Class and Friendly Too!, 2011-10-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (944)

While most of the Yacht Clubs along the ICW are very nice and have wonderful facilities, Norfolk Yacht Club also offers first class treatment of its guests. The dockmaster was terrific, and even came to check on us a following a nasty squal that passed through. Excellent dining facilties and great view over the water. Only suggestion is to make sure you ask to be on the "inside" of the floating docks and not on the outside T. It can get pretty rough out there.

nice club to visit, 2010-06-07
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

We stopped for several days on our trip north. Beautiful facility, friendly people, helpful and friendly dock staff. The dockmaster personally delivered the Sunday paper. Floating concrete docks would be the envy of any marina. T heads exposed to long WSW fetch. Power is solid 220. Huge main club house is nicely appointed with several dining options and good food at reasonable prices. Need a car for shopping.

NYCC, 2009-07-14
Captain: , Daytona Beach,FL (172)

We have been members to this yacht club for many years and we look forward to staying there every summer. They have concrete floating docks, three swimming pools, three restaurants and sailing activities. The rate is good for visiting yacht club members. They also have fuel for a reasonable rate.

Great place to visit, 2009-07-05
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

This is a real nice place to visit. Nice pool and fitness area and the food was great. Recommend not leaving your name on comment cards, we did when a bartender began repremanding the staff in front of everyone and the following night was hit up with 3 additional drinks from the prior nights bill....pretty tacky.
Ask for Joe as a waiter, he was outstanding.....

Exceptional, 2008-01-28
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach, NC (464)

This is a first-rate yacht club that maintains reciprocal agreements with Yachting Club of America members
