Reviews for Niantic Bay Yacht Club
Not what I expected, 2015-09-14
Captain: , Hingham, MA (1079)

Due to a small craft advisory, we tucked into Niantic to get out of the wind. This is a very small marina with no protection from anything but a West wind (which is why we came here) - even then the mooring field is still rolly. Also, you get wake from the fishermen going out in the early am (from further down the river). The club is not what I was think of when I think of a yacht club - this place is more geared toward a kids sailing camp. The facilities are dated and with no ammenities; facilities are only available when the club is staffed. However, the staff was very nice and helpful. Note: the dinghy dock is very tight - requires staff assistance to find a spot - people leave engines up and painters short.

Welcoming and friendly, 2012-08-03
Captain: , Niantic, CT (327)

I keep my 19' sailboat on the Niantic River, and every once in a while I sail over to the Niantic Bay Yacht Club to stretch my legs. Some yacht clubs have a habit of chasing off those who aren't renting slips or moorings, but they have always been quite welcoming and friendly to me. (I am asked to leave if a boat comes in and needs the dock space, but that's certainly understandable.) Their "Slippershell Galley" provides typical summer galley food (cheeseburgers, hot dogs, BLTs - even peanut butter and jelly sandwiches), and their prices aren't outrageous. It's a great spot to grab a bite to eat for lunch and walk around for a short while. On a typical summer's day, the Club is bustling with activity, and people of all ages - especially kids - seem to have a great time. It's worth a visit, whether only for an hour or for overnight.

Super friendly, 2011-07-04

Stayed here in the summer of 2009 for a night. Everyone was really friendly (invited us to race with their Wed. night beercans). The only issue was the teenage launch driver was not used to transients, leaving some confusion. As I recall, the moorings we very reasonably priced.
