Reviews for Newport Yachting Center
Free coffee!, 2017-07-16
Captain: , PooleUK (1023)

Decent if clattery floating docks, solid shore power, decent wifi, great location, very attentive staff and best of all, free coffee in the marina office!
Thank you for making room for us!

Outstanding marina, 2017-05-20
Captain: , Red Brook Harbor, Ma. (216)

This is a great marina. Super location, spotlessly clean, very responsive employees in all areas. The upper deck they have with a spectacular view of the harbor is the icing on the cake.

Nice facilty in an expensive port., 2016-12-31
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (283)

Good place to hang out and do your laundry, lots of tables and chairs plus a television. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. The staff is very helpful

Fine but Institutional, 2016-10-25
Captain: , Boston (185)

The marina is one of the few Newport marinas open in late fall, so worth the 2.75$/ft for the heating alone. The location is very good, and facilities are very clean. But given the choice, I'd rather stay somewhere less sterile --- like Dutch Harbor Marina or The Newport Marina.

End of Season night in Newport, 2016-10-15
Captain: , Amagansett (30)

This was my second visit to NYC this season and once, again, NYC provided excellent facilities and service. This visit included excellent assistance at the fuel dock on arrival and then when moving to our dock. Like the last time, there was no internet service, but I added the fifth star to my review anyway, as NYC is the third Newport marina I have utilized and by far my favorite.

Late season stay, 2016-09-30
Captain: , Mystic, CT (12)

New facilities and friendly attendants created a pleasurable stay during this late season stop over. Floating docks are a plus.
Marina is in the heart of down town Newport convenient to shopping and restaurants.
Price was reasonable.

Really good spot, 2016-09-05
Captain: , Newport (41)

Central to Newport, but far enough away from the chaos to get a night sleep. The only reason for 4 stars, not 5, is the Wfi -- Unless you are tied up right next to the dock office, forget it... NYC - need to get some boosters!

Great team at Newport yachting Center, great service, great location, great facility.
Always a great marina to visit.

Nice place and freindly staff, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Warwick RI (20)

perfect place to stay. recommend to every one

Great service but how can a place like this run out of ice?, 2016-08-05
Captain: , Chesapeake YC, Shady SIde, MD (101)

Reservation process was uneventful ia Dockwa. Dockhads were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, these guys know how to work the lines to get everything from a 175' yacht to my 49' sailboat into the slip with no drama. Delightful front office staff, very helpful for everything. Except that at noon on a Sunday they ran out of ice. Gratned it's Folk Festival weekend but it's not the first time that this has been held here. Really poor planning on the part of management not to have a Sunday delivery or backup plan. OK I'll admit I'm probably one of the few boats in the marina without an icemaker, but....
The cookies offered by the office staff did help a bit :)

The center of town!, 2016-08-04
Captain: , Apponaug, RI (20)

I dock staff is as good as any I've found. The office staff are friendly and efficient and the coffee is great. it's in the middle of Newport so no long walks to any restaurants and attractions you might want to visit. My only regret is that cigars aren't allowed on the roof deck. ;-)

Excellent stay, 2016-08-03
Captain: , Norwalk (303)

We have come here regularily because we like Newport and we really like this marina. The staff are accomodating, professional and the facilty has been upgraded too. The fuel prices remain competitive. All in all an excellent choice to stay when in Newport.

Convenient central location with great staff., 2016-08-02
Captain: , Charleston, SC (20)

Staff is great. Wifi not useable. Party venue on the pier can be great or not so depending on crowd and music choices. Electrical power supply reliability seems to depend on what slip. (We were here four times in last two months.)

Best Newport marina, 2016-07-30
Captain: , Huntington NY (30)

Dock hands are #1 and the marina is in the middle of town

Excellent Facility & Staff Team, 2016-07-28
Captain: , Belfast ME (95)

Always excellent service.
First rate facility.
Dockhands/staff competent and professional.

Top notch service in Newport, 2015-08-21
Captain: , Branford ,CT (220)

These guys know customer service!the dock staff as well as the office staff could not have been more helpful .we were not sitting on a super yacht yacht yet they treat you like you are!there per foot charge @5.25 a foot is a little high but you get what you pay for .Newport is a great stop with lots too do,see and many choices for dining.Don't miss the chowder at the Black Pearl!

Great access to town, 1st class facilities , 2015-08-19
Captain: , Rochester, NY (200)

Great Marina and close to everything!! Beautiful scenery, huge mega yachts, wonderful harbor. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants, awesome docking crew too. Would definitely stay here again!!

Fuel dock good and nice staff, 2015-08-12
Captain: , Miami (168)

Good spot to refuel, prices were better than others and good discount for Towboat US and also for bulk

Fuel purchase 5/3/2015, 2015-05-03
Captain: , Newport, RI (40)

Took on fuel 5/3/2015, $3.599/gallon regular gasoline, helpful, welcoming staff on hand to assist with questions and concerns.

Great place, but......, 2014-08-24
Captain: , Long Beach Island, New Jersey (184)

This marina is perfectly located in the center of Newport's tourist district. Facility, docks, staff all extremely helpful. Beware once the sun sets.....between the live band in the wedding tent overlooking the marina and the music festival in the other tent just next door to NYC, you can forget about enjoying a nice quiet night at the dock.

M/V Sequel, Charleston, SC, 2014-07-17
Captain: , Charleston (80)

Excellent and efficient dock crew. Stone's throw from America's Cup Way and nice walk to shopping and restaurants. If you need or want dockside, this is it.

Very beautiful place-plenty of yachts of all kinds, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Vancouver (510)

We arrived in darkness and had instructions from US Homeland security (when we called

from Cape Cod) to stop at the Museum of Sailing across the bay. We stopped at what

looked like a ferry terminal floating dock for tourist boat. We spoke with the officer who

took our passport info and I applied for my US Cruising permit (to avoid fee at every port I

stopped at). He said it would be available in the morning. He said he had no authority to let

us stay there for the night and since there was noone around we stayed. Next morning we

left for Newport Yachting Center at 6am. When we arrived it wasn't open yet so se tied up

at fuel dock. When Kerrie arrived she was very courteous/helpful/professional. We were

allowed to take showers and walk to the town before the Cruising permit was delivered.

Great location. Could be noisy, 2013-07-09
Captain: , Annapolis, md (20)

Great location right in the heard of Newport. Transient rate of $5/ft seems like the going rate here. Great deckhands. They have a live music venue right next to the docks (I understand B. B. King was here last night.) There is a commercial fishing pier on the south side of the marina. Not great views and a little noisy. Bathrooms good. Wi-fi service didn't work when we tried it.

NYC Marina, 2013-06-24
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

It was easy to get into and the dock hands were right there to assist with dockage, always a relief in gusty wind as we experienced. No cable for the Admiral's news shows but in every other way, a fine stop over in the center of Newport. A music event was noisy until 9:30 but quiet afterwards. I highly recommend the Franklin Spa for breakfast, a short 5 minute strole.

Service & Location, 2012-07-27
Captain: , Hilton Head (130)

Staff was really helpful and the location is absolutely top notch. And a beautiful view of all that goes on along the harbor. Great stop!

Top-notch marina, 2012-06-29
Captain: , Rumsey Island (330)

Perfect location, very convenient to town. Super dockhands. One even rode on my boat with a fender to help me get through a tight fairway. Only problem-both nights we were there, they had live music events going on at their tent. No quiet time until 11pm both nights.

18-19 May 2012, 2012-06-13
Captain: , Delaware City, DE (60)

Personnel very helpful. Facilities nice - bathrooms clean. Cost $3.00/ft on 18-19 May 2012. Relatively easy to get in and out of dock. 3-day wifi pass.

Favorite Place, 2012-04-13
Captain: , Deep River, CT (251)

Newport is our favorite place to visit and Newport yachting Center is where we always stay. The dock hands are true professionals. The bath rooms are clean. The office staff are helpful. There frequently are weddings and other activities going on at NYC in addition to the normal Newport festivities.

Excellent Location and lots to do, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (274)

The marina is cose to the center of Newport. It is easy to get to any of the many stores and attractions in town. The marina is also next to the tent where they have music , well known comic acts (we saw Lewis Black) and different festivals. The marina facility is clean and well kept. The marina staff are professional and friendly. We have been to this marina 5-6 times and plan to go back in the future.

Great Service and Location with Off Season Rates, 2011-10-05
Captain: , Bridgeport, CT (559)

This was our first visit to Newport and had great directions and docking assistance. Only feet away some great restaurants (our favorite- the Mooring) and only four blocks (uphill) for groceries (Stop & Stop), laundry and hardware store (and liquor store) on Bellevue Ave. Only $2.75/ft for dockage and $10/day for 30 amp and have free wifi.

Expensive but great location, 2011-07-03
Captain: , Beach haven NJ (510)

Best location in Newport. You are located in the center of town and can walk to restaurants and nightclubs within minutes. Nice bathrooms and laundry room. The Newport Yachting Center insulated blue bag they give you is a nice touch and almost makes you forget about the high dock fees you paid once you leave Newport.

Perfect location, 2011-05-16
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Walking distance to EVERYTHING. Staff provides great service. Ray Leblanc (assist manager) was helpful by cellphone on Sunday. Plenty of slips at off season rate. Clean & well managed facility.

great staff right in the middle of it all, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Fire Island Pines (408)

great location, right in the middle of town, great views of the harbor.

Great Location, 2009-09-12
Captain: , Sag Harbor, NY (637)

You can't beat the downtown Newport location. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and the docks and facilities are in excellent shape. No pool on site, but you get full access to the pool and health club at the Marriott, which is only about 2 blocks away. You do get some noise at night due to the proximity of main street, but this is true for any of the downtown marinas. There was a mix up with the billing at checkout, which they cheerfully corrected and apologized for profusely.

Noisy..., 2009-08-31
Captain: , Miami, fl (3666)

a little noisy withe the fishing boats on one end, large parking lots and party tents on shore... staff is VERY friendly and helpful though. clean docks... shore power a little iffy though, we popped the breakers and were told to limit draw.

i prefer anchoring or a mooring but it's ok for a night since it's right in the heart of newport
