good location, nice facilities, 2016-08-05
Captain: , Chesapeake YC, Shady SIde, MD (101)

Visited twice via Dockwa reservation system, pretty uneventful booking process. Very friendly staff, nice little bar upstairs (we did have reciprocal priveleges), close to the visitors center and the popular wharfs. Special recognition to Club Steward Rudy Borgueta, one of the best I've run across in 30 years of boating.
Fairways are a little narrow, but typical of what you'll find in Newport. Dockhands were prettygood but be sure to direct them rather than assuming they know how you want to tie up. They do take directions well.

Unpretentious yacht club, 2015-07-22
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (420)

If you have yacht club receprocity this is a great place to stay in Newport. Not quite as expensive as alternatives yet an easy walk to the city center action. Given its location we expected an elegant, old money feel, but instead found a down home, friendly atmosphere with competent staff and welcoming members.

Quiet enclave in the bustle of Newport Harbor, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Wickford RI (70)

The Newport Yacht Club is nestled in along Long Wharf, just to the west of Perotti Park and the ferry landing. It's very quiet, the staff is helpful, and the place has the feel of a yacht club rather than a marina. It's a little further from the center of action than Newport Yachting Center, which is nice if you're looking for a little peace and quiet. No loud bands and few tourists will bother you. They have ice, laundry, and well-maintained showers. They're about a 10 minute walk from Bowen's Wharf and the center of downtown Newport.

When entering or leaving the marina, keep a watchful eye on the ferry landing. There's regular ferry service to Block Island and giving them lots of room is a good idea.

The Club takes reservations from non-members only a couple of days in advance, which makes planning somewhat difficult. On the other hand, I have never been turned away, even in the height of the season.
